Daily Prompt 3 July Wednesday

What’s your definition of romantic?

Romantic is respect given and received from the other person. You have their back and they have yours, when there’s a problem you talk it out respectfully. Romantic is not making those tik tok videos insulting your partner for likes and follows that’s disrespectful. Romantic is chivalry , chivalry is not dead. Demand better for yourself ladies. Show him you deserve the best. My husband opens doors for me when we enter a building and he also opens my car door when I get in and out of the car. I’ve never asked him to he just does it. Do little things for each other , bring him a snack in the evening, snuggle up to him on the couch. It’s a two way street all relationships are give and take.

Happy publication day and Blog tour for Blue Skies Over Wildflower Lock by Hannah Lynn

ABOUT THE BOOK

Blue Skies Over Wildflower Lock

There may be trouble ahead…

Just when Daisy thought she had canal life understood, Theo, her primary go-to for all of her boating questions has left Wildflower Lock, not to mention the budding romance that has been steadily growing.

Not one to sit and wallow, Daisy takes matters into her own hands. Who said long-distance relationships can’t work?

With the help of trusted friend Yvonne, Daisy takes the September Rose on a round trip to surprise her new boyfriend. The best thing about a home on the water? You can go anywhere!

But perhaps leaving the serenity of Wildflower Lock wasn’t the best idea. Daisy hates keeping secrets from Theo, and she’s not the only one…

Full of fun, friendship, laughter and sweet romance, Blue Skies over Wildflower Lock will delight readers who love Cressida McLaughlin, Heidi Swain and Holly Martin.

MY THOUGHTS

With such cute and stunning covers, I’m always drawn to this author’s books. The characters are so relatable, you feel like they could be friends and you’d love to share in their happiness.

The setting is so charming. I mean who wouldn’t want to frequent a coffee shop on a boat? Daisy’s home is a houseboat, and her coffee shop is there too. How lovely is that? Daisy is in a new relationship and really wants this to work out. Trouble is, it’s a long-distance relationship.

With Daisy putting in long hours in her coffee shop serving customers and baking goodies and her new man working his job them seeing each other frequently just isn’t happening. This is when Daisy gets the brilliant idea to travel on her boat, September Rose to visit him. She has her trusty guide, an elderly woman who’s navigated these waters many times and who was a friend of her mom to guide her.

Full of love, laughter, romance, fun chats, this is my favorite book this Summer. The adventures these ladies went on with this houseboat traveling coffee shop were marvelous.

The people they met, and the charming dog added so much fun to the story. Through this trip Daisy discovers so much about herself and her family she hadn’t know. A true gem that I highly recommend you zip right to the top of your summer reading list.

Can’t Wait Wednesday

Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted at Wishful Endings to spotlight and discuss the books we’re excited about that we have yet to read. Generally they’re books that have yet to be released.

I’ve read several books by the author and have enjoyed them. I’ve gotten into cozy mysteries in the past few years, now I can’t get enough of them.

Pub Date Aug 20 2024

The eighth installment in a charming cozy mystery series set on an island off the New England coast and featuring the cat cafe owner Maddie and her cat JJ.

Beware the cats of Christmas past…

It’s the holiday season on Daybreak Island, and Maddie James is looking forward to stepping out of the limelight, watching the island’s Christmas decoration competition from afar, spending time with her boyfriend and family, running tours for visitors as part of the festivities and spreading holiday cheer through cute cats in jingle bell collars.

But trouble hits close to home when word gets out that Donna Carey, the publisher of the island’s only daily newspaper where Maddie’s best friend Becky is editor, may be selling the business. Becky is a diehard journalist and to her, selling the only newspaper on the island is a fate worse than death. She publicly opposes the potential sale, wreaking havoc on her relationship with her big boss.

Maddie is sympathetic, but she has her own problems – like getting pulled into a role on the Christmas event committee despite her best efforts to stay far removed, and solving the case of a mysterious cat breeder trying to sell expensive designer cats as holiday gifts on the island. But then Donna winds up dead—electrocuted by her own Christmas decorations—and it appears to be more than an accident. To make matters worse, Becky becomes suspect number one. Maddie is thrown into another murder investigation in order to save her best friend from a Christmas behind bars.

Thank you for stopping in. I hope your day is great.

Daily Prompt 2 July Tuesday

How do you express your gratitude?

There are so many ways to express gratitude , it just depends on who this gratitude is expressed towards.

A simple thank you, a smile, a kiss and hug, a surprise small gift, flowers, a trip out to dinner, a homemade sweet treat, just doing something nice for someone, bringing them a cold drink on a hot day. Lots and lots of ways to show gratitude and appreciation.

Good morning Monday! 🌞

Good morning friends. Went out walking this morning and there was actually a breeze and it’s 58 degrees. Am I still even in Pennsylvania? Yesterday was 93 and I was roasting, so with today being a high of 80 I’ll take it. I have a book to finish, hopefully and my youngest son has an interview at McDonald’s today. Be well and stay cool today.

Daily Prompt 30 June Sunday

What makes a teacher great?

A great teacher goes above and beyond basic teaching. A teacher needs to have a passion for what they teach and that way you’ll become interested in the subject and want to learn about it and to please them. A teacher needs to keep students updated on things in a timely manner. School districts now use portals to post grades and also post upcoming assignments. This can be a great thing…….. Or not! Unfortunately over the past few years I’ve noticed it sometimes takes teachers weeks to place grades for assignments in the portal so you don’t have an accurate overall grade either. I believe teachers still need to contact parents if a child’s grades are not up to snuff or they are not doing assignments like they used to. Now everything goes in the portal and there’s less teacher/parent involvement. Teachers need to have compassion. Some students are shy and will not ask a teacher for help if they don’t understand an assignment or a subject in general. Teachers can see a pattern in the students work and need to offer help to this student outside of class time, like during an empty class time, before or after school or during a teacher’s lunch time. Teachers have a powerful impact on students and are remembered for years to come for how they acted so good or bad, caring and compassionate or not. Teachers let your voice be heard!

Happy Publication day and Blog tour for Happy Ever After at Puddleduck Farm by Della Galton

ABOUT THE BOOK

Happy Ever After at Puddleduck Farm

When life throws up the unexpected, can Phoebe hold strong?

In the idyllic setting of the New Forest, talented vet Phoebe Dashwood envisions a picturesque life alongside her beloved fiancé. However, the course of true love is fraught with unexpected hurdles.

Career wise, Phoebe encounters a goat who is seemingly experiencing a phantom pregnancy, and a highly-strung talking parrot who pushes her professionalism to the limits.

Things take an unexpected turn for the worse when Phoebe is confronted with a glamorous love rival, and a surprise Valentine’s Day ‘date’ to see a financial advisor! Can things get any worse?

When tragedy strikes Phoebe realises that nothing in life should be taken for granted and fears she will lose everything she holds dear.

Whilst her friends find their own happy endings, Phoebe is beset with doubts that she and Sam will ever find theirs. Is love enough to carry them into the future they deserve?

MY THOUGHTS

I am always so excited to see another installment in the Puddleduck Farm series and I’ve read them all plus other books by the author. I read some books that have a heavier subject matter, and this is always such a comfort read series.

After having read the other books in the series I can confidently say I feel as though the characters could be friends and we’d have a cozy chat and tea together. Having a catch up with the characters is great and I just love how realistic the situations and characters are.

And just like all of us the characters go through some rough spots but being surrounded by friends who are empathetic and will help out in any way they can means everything.

I love animals and growing up around a lot of them I thought I’d become a vet. Though things didn’t turn out that way I enjoy reading about the veterinarians in Puddleduck Farm. The antics the animals get up to, both farm animals and domesticated animals makes me chuckle.

This is an automatic read series for me, and I’ll be continuing to read it.

I was given a complimentary copy of this book.
