MY THOUGHTS

I’m so glad the cover drew me into this story; it reminds me of New England. Otherwise, I would have never had the pleasure of reading this author. I’m not sure how I’ve missed reading this author but now that I’ve discovered her work, I have some catching up to do.
This is really a lovely story.
Talk about opposites attracting, he’s a single dad with big dreams, she’s a strongly driven ladder climbing career woman.
She’s older, he’s giving off single playboy vibes.
An island vacation before her niece’s wedding has her meeting a hot hunk, he couldn’t possibly be interested after all she’s older.
Things just seem to click but being so career driven she’s not looking for a relationship, this is just a short fling for her.
He falls first.
He’s hiding a secret will it become curtains when she finds out?
The couple have quite the chemistry going on, lots of spice.
I enjoyed the progression of the story and how the couple works through problems.
I’ll soon be checking out what else the author has out.

MY THOUGHTS

If you are in a reading slump feeling down, this is such a lovely book it’ll cheer, you right up.
Every once in a while, I’ll read a magical realism book, and it hits just right.
This one is so warm and charming. The writing just drew me right in.
Our main character is dealing with grief; it’s pretty debilitating to her.
She must run her mother’s bookshop, The Lamplighter. I want to work there, surrounded by books all day but even better the shop is magical. With its whimsical cast we find out just how incredible literature is when it’s recommended to others. Small town vibes and magical creatures including a special bookstore owl made the story feel like a warm reassuring hug. Looking forward to visiting this town again in future books.

Ruby is nervous and has a little tool kit to help remind her to keep things calm.
One day at school she and her classmates are painting a banner.
Her ideas are different than her classmates and they keep telling her how to paint differently.
Becoming overwhelmed even her tools don’t help her this time.
She throws paint everywhere to let out her frustrations and instantly regrets it.
Pappy talks to the teacher, and Ruby apologizes to her teacher and friends and they’re very understanding.
A nice book to teach children it’s okay to be angry, we all feel this emotion, but we need to find ways to cope with it.

MY THOUGHTS

This is a new to me author and series. I’m always on the lookout for a new cozy mystery series and one about dogs drew me right in. I couldn’t resist the cute cover either.
Orca Cove is set for the holidays, but any celebrations are put on hold with the opening of the Wiggle Butt Manor Agility Course.
Show dog Bently is a fabulous pup and highly trained, his owner Miles Collins, not so much. Unlikeable and argumentative towards everyone he’s made enemies everywhere he goes. Not surprisingly someone has had enough of his nonsense, and he’s found dead in the back of a moving van.
So many suspects, he’s made enemies with everyone.
I really enjoyed the dogs in the story; it added such a welcoming touch.
The story wasn’t overly Christmassy at all, but I did enjoy it a lot and now I’ll be looking for more to read in this series.

MY THOUGHTS

A sweet honey of a book. Having read the rest of the books in this series and loving the characters and the setting of Maple Falls I couldn’t wait to get started on this one and read it in less than a day.
A small-town feel-good book that just had me eating it up.
I loved the chemistry our two main characters had, and he was even super nice and polite to the grandparents which scores high on my list, always.
Between the cafe life and the campground life, lazy days, steamy nights, the bear legend and the life swap I loved it all. Highly recommended series. I loved it!

What a charming book I just finished.
Small town story really filled with emotion and let’s not forget to add lots of drama.
Family secrets become resolved as the air is cleared in this multigenerational story.
A bookstore, a remodel, coming home, compassion, definitely family oriented and a nice bonus of not one but two romances and the sweetest little girl and a charming dog.
Another winner by the author.

MY THOUGHTS

This is a new to me author and it exceeded my expectations. When trying a new author, you just never know even if the book sounds interesting.
The book is just incredible. Once I started it, I became immersed in it.
The story is beautiful, it’s haunting, it has so many layers the more you read the more layers become peeled back like an onion. The characters are perfectly defined and the story well plotted. The description of Norway is stunning.
Such an emotional story, I wanted to read it quickly but yet I didn’t want it to end.
I am now going to see what else the author has out.

If you’re new to my work, you might like to start with THE MIDNIGHT HOUSE, inspired by a message I found scratched into the rafters of our Irish home, a two-hundred-year-old stone building perched on the edge of the Atlantic. It said: ‘When this comes down, pray for me …’ and as I held that piece of timber in my hands, I was humbled that a person’s fingerprint could transcend time and I sat down that very night to begin a story, one that I hoped would capture that feeling of discovery. THE MIDNIGHT HOUSE was a Richard & Judy book club pick and translated into 8 languages.

My second novel, THE MOON GATE, uncovers the secret behind a mysterious legacy – Towerhurst, an old house crumbling in a rainforest. It takes place across three locations: Tasmania (my home state), London (where we rented a houseboat for many years) and County Kerry, Ireland (where I now live). Each of these places is special to me and THE MOON GATE is my most sweeping and beloved book, its narratives woven together by Banjo Paterson’s poetry.

I’m also a geologist who explores the world’s remote places. I’ve worked on five continents, and spend months at a time out in the wilds. It’s an amazing job, and writing novels provides a similar sense of wonder and discovery, though the warm office, fresh food and a shower in the evening make the conditions rather more comfortable! Being an author is also the perfect excuse to regularly curl up by a fire with a great book (which I can always say is research). I treasure my reading time, and I know you do too, so thank you for taking a chance on my books.

MY THOUGHTS

This is the second book in the Maggie O’Halloran series. In the last book Maggie and her brother and Brendan end up fleeing New York because her brother was involved in a gang and they would have done him in if he stayed.
This continuation is so realistic, so heartbreaking. You can feel every emotion the characters do, every sigh of relief every heartbreaking moment of crushing disappointment.
Maggie and Brendan pretend to be married for proprieties sake but that seems to bring it’s own laundry list of problems.
As much as Maggie struggles, she is also blessed with some freedom but that comes with problems as well. I did enjoy our main characters a lot. They really struggled, got down but they didn’t stay down they were strong, they had to be. There really was a lot going on in Chicago where they moved to, these Irish immigrants. I enjoyed reading about the Chicago Exhibition and how long it took to prepare for it.
There were unexpected twists and turns I couldn’t have seen coming and I enjoyed this book so much.
Looking forward to the next book in the series.

A Holiday Homicide is the fourth book in the A Secret Bookcase Mystery series.
There are now six books published in the series and with this book I’ve read three of them.
I enjoy cozy mysteries, but when they are Christmas/holiday themed it’s a little extra.
I have loved every series I’ve read by the author, and this series is another winner.
Fast paced activity, you’ll catch yourself staying up late just to finish and believe me when I say there’s a lot of action at the end.
Who knew gingerbread baking could be so dangerous. Quirky characters, a welcome holiday feel and clues that’ll keep you reading were just what I was looking for in this holiday book.

MY THOUGHTS

When They Met Again is the second book in the Letters from Lancaster series.
I am so glad I got a chance to read it. Amish books are one of my favorites and this is an author I can always get excited about reading her books. I have been reading her books for years.
Joanna isn’t interested in anyone courting her as she thinks she’s too young to get serious and she wants to be friends first and take it from there.
Adam is interested in her, but she wants to keep it as friends. I should also point out Adam loves ice-cream and wants her to accompany him to the ice cream shop.
When Jacob comes around and she finds herself falling for him things start changing and there are some surprises along the way.
I really enjoyed meeting and getting to know the characters and look forward to the next book in the series.
