ABOUT THE BOOK

Sisters Making Mischief

Joy Chandler has had enough!

All she wanted was a lovely family Christmas with perfect turkey and luxury crackers. Instead, daughter Sara announces she’s getting divorced…and where is the fizz? And son, John and perfect wife Vanessa announce they are leaving for New York… and are the vegetables organic? And not one of them has made her a cup of tea!

So Joy decides she’s going to leave them all to it and head to France to visit her younger sister Isobel – a break from it all is just what she needs!

Isabel’s potato farm in France might be rustic, but Joy is hoping to find a bit of the old her again. Do her family really only think she’s their dogs body? Where has Joy’s joy gone?

Being with Isobel is loud and chaotic and being together brings out both sisters’ mischievous side! And being in France adds a welcome touch of ooh la la to Joy’s life again. Soon, she has a new job, a new man and maybe even, a second chance at living!

An uplifting and hilarious story about living life to the full and always, always having fun! Perfect for fans of Judy Leigh and Dee Macdonald

MY THOUGHTS

I’ll admit it this author is an automatic read for me. Why you may ask. Because of the author’s humor and situations where people actually do what you would want to do in the same situation but don’t dare to. In other words, I love this feel-good relaxation book packed with laugh out loud moments and have more than once nodded my head yes to certain situations.

A nice and relaxing Christmas holiday was what Joy was expecting as she waited for her daughter and her family to arrive for the holiday. She had been eagerly expecting her daughter, daughter’s husband and two grandchildren vesting. Instead, she got her daughter arriving without her husband and in tears and the children sullen and rude.

A divorce is in the works for her daughter and she’s hitting the bottle hard. Her son arriving with his family will surely work out better. When the siblings are together, they seem to be fighting worse than the children.
Where’s this relaxing holiday with family?
When her sister suggests she visits her in France we see the real Joy come to life again.

While her family seems to be in shock that she’s left them she comes to realize there’s more to life than being at their beck and call. While sister Isobel beats to her own drum she gets Joy to open up and live life a little again. The experiences are marvelous and not at all what she was expecting but will she want to go back home again?

The book left me smiling and happy. Quirky characters, fast paced, and I loved the dialogue amongst the characters. I’d sum this up and sunny and delightful!

ABOUT THE BOOK

She never thought she’d love again…

In her late 50s and having lived in Tenerife for over 15 years, there’s not much on the island that can surprise widowed Elspeth. Until her hotelier friend asks her to put up a guest after they’ve overbooked – and handsome Charles is suddenly staying in very close quarters.

Long buried emotions are coming back to life.

Devastated by the death of her husband four years ago, Elspeth isn’t open to new romance. Yet something about Charles pulls her in, and they grow closer together. But Charles’ holiday is drawing to a close, and Elspeth needs to decide what she really wants – and how to get it.

The perfect holiday romance for fans of Holly Martin, Sue Moorcroft and Mandy Baggot.

MY THOUGHTS

I enjoy reading Lilac Mills books. They have a minimal amount of drama and always have a hea.

The descriptions of the little town of Santiago del Teide sound so refreshing. April would be the perfect month to visit with the sun coming up over the inactive volcano, light rain and year-round greenery giving way to an abundance of flowers.

Elspeth Evans is a middle-aged woman, widowed four years. She misses her husband so much. They were everything to each other and it’s still hard to believe he’s gone.

She occasionally rents a few rooms to make ends meet. She meets Charles Brown; her first male to rent a room since her husband has passed and does it ever feel strange to have another male in her home that’s not her husband. After he arrives he seems like a nice, presentable and polite gent. As they talk and get to know each other she recommends things to do, like hiking on the beautiful trails.

A misunderstanding gets her going along as a tour guide and they have a genuinely good and fun time and conversation. Though she’s not ready to meet and mingle she has started noticing how good looking he is and enjoying his company. He’s a divorced father of 2 grown daughters.

They breakfast together and genuinely enjoy each other’s company. When it’s time for him to leave will this friendship be swept away in the tides or will the island and her have a magnetic pull on him making him return?

The author writes a fun and realistic book from the heart. Family relationships are important, and the characters draw you in to care about them.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Lilac Mills lives on a Welsh mountain with her very patient husband and incredibly sweet dog, where she grows veggies (if the slugs don’t get them), bakes (badly) and loves making things out of glitter and glue (a mess, usually). She’s been an avid reader ever since she got her hands on a copy of Noddy Goes to Toytown when she was five, and she once tried to read everything in her local library starting with A and working her way through the alphabet.

She loves long, hot summer days in the garden, and cold winter ones snuggled in front of the fire, but whatever the weather she’s usually writing or thinking about writing, with heartwarming romance and happy-ever-afters always on her mind..
