Blog Tour for Christmas Secrets in the Scottish Highlands by Donna Ashcroft

I apologize for posting late for my stop on this blog tour. Illness held me back from reading and posting on time. Deanne

About the Book:

Welcome to Christmas Resort, the festive retreat where the scent of cinnamon is in the air and chocolate yule log is eaten all year round! But with the resort in trouble, can Holliday Harrison save Christmas and find true love along the way?

Thirty-year-old Holliday Harrison is throwing herself into the festive season to give her life some purpose after losing her fiancé three years ago. Working at Christmas Resort, an all-year-round holiday village, with its sparkling lights and community of quirky characters, is the warm environment she needs right now. But everything is about to change…

When handsome, blue-eyed businessman Damon MacAndrew arrives to stay in one of the cute log cabins, at first Holly is intrigued. Why has this serious stranger come to such a jolly place? But then he makes his plan clear: Damon wants to buy the resort and change everything about it.

Determined to put Damon off Christmas Resort, Holly is soon engineering cold showers and setting him up to get lost in the maze. But with freshly baked cookies and delicious hot chocolate available on tap in such a magical setting, it’s hard to find ways to make the resort seem unappealing… Holliday tries her hardest to fight for the resort but the romance of Christmas seems to have other ideas.

As they take sleigh rides together and spend long evenings in front of the log fire she can’t deny the sizzling attraction between them. But has Damon really fallen in love with the magic of Christmas, or is he still a cold-hearted businessman? And will this this turn out to be the best Christmas ever… or will it end in heartbreak?

This sparkling, festive read featuring an enemies-to-lovers romance is completely addictive and moreish! A gorgeous winter romance that will have you glued to the pages. Fans of Cathy Bramley, Trisha Ashley and Debbie Macomber will love this delicious Christmas romance.

My Thoughts

Oh this series!

I just love it. The setting of the Scottish Highlands sounds like just the place for me. I would really love to visit there. This series is so warm and welcoming, one I’ve been really enjoying. I’ve read several books by the author, and they are all wonderful. They keep getting better and better. I am hoping this series will continue. A Christmas themed resort in the Scottish Highlands evokes different feelings about Christmas in two people. One loves it and is surrounded by it year-round at this resort, one tries to avoid it at all costs because of past memories. We all know a little Christmas magic has a way of thawing the chilliest of hearts though with the spirit of Christmas. From hot cocoa to sleigh rides to tender talks and long walks this magical feeling Christmas book is just what you need for a wonderful holiday read. I was given a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions expressed are my own.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? a place to meet up and share what you have been, and are about to be reading over the week. It’s a great post to organise yourself. It’s an opportunity to visit and comment and er… add to your groaning TBR pile! Hosted by The Book Date.

I’m happy to say I was able to get an antibiotic for my ear pain today. It’s been going on for several weeks and I’ve also developed a sinus infection too. It should be gone by the time we start traveling again in a week. The rain has finally stopped. We are off to Lowe’s later today to replace our washer which wouldn’t start the first cycle after having it only 21 months. Is anything made to last anymore? Thank goodness it’s still under warranty and they gave us a gift card. Hopefully it’ll cover the cost of most of the new machine minus the new warranty.

Of course, my reading list is always subject to change. What about you, what will I find you reading this week?

Enjoy your day and thank you for stopping in.

Happy Publication Day and the Blog tour for Christmas Nights at the Star and Lantern by Helen Rolfe

I’m always drawn to Christmas covers and this is no exception. It’s so pretty!

A wonderful story of love, friendship and opening your mind and your heart to new possibilities that will enchant fans of Holly Martin and Heidi Swain.

The Copper Plough is at the heart of village life for the residents of Heritage Cove, and never more so than at Christmas, when the tree glows in the alcove and the smell of mulled wine carries out onto the street. So when new owners for the beloved pub arrive and decide to shake things up, not everyone welcomes the changes with open arms.

Local bakery owner Celeste is ready to keep an open mind. But she’s shocked to discover that one of the new landlords is Quinn, a former Navy sailor with whom she had a short but powerful romance years earlier.

Fate may have brought Quinn and Celeste back together, but life seems determined to keep them apart. Can the villagers learn to embrace the newcomers this Christmas? And will Quinn and Celeste find a way back to each other before snow falls over Heritage Cove?

I love the author’s writing style and I’ve read many of her books.

The characters feel realistic as though you’d want to stop in and have a lovely chat with them and snag a sweet or two at the bakery. I got hungry as I was reading.

The characters are so likable. from Barney (everyone knows and loves him) to Quinn (Celeste’s love interest).

I enjoyed seeing how compassionately the author writes about Quinn, he is a former Naval man and has PTSD from all he has experienced while serving. The author’s descriptions of his night terrors are so well done. It’s so heartwarming to see the characters so supportive of each other in all ways possible.

Bakery owner Celeste and Quinn had a short fling years ago. When the local pub is sold all the regulars are hoping the new owners will continue on in the same fashion as it was run before including the star attraction, a beautiful Christmas tree for the holidays.

New circumstances always mean changes though. When Celeste finds out her old flame is the one that has returned and bought the pub, she tries to stay away but Christmas magic comes a calling.

Very Christmassy and such a positive and encouraging read. I really loved it!

The Teacher’s Christmas Secret: An Uplifting Inspirational Romance (Seven Amish Sisters Book 3) by Emma Miller

The Amish school brings them together.

Will his secret break them apart?

When widowed schoolteacher Tobit Lapp is injured, he reluctantly agrees he needs Cora Koffman’s help. Cora’s still upset Tobit got the job at the Amish schoolhouse, but she agrees to teach his class till he’s able. As they work together on lessons, a surprising friendship blossoms between them, but Tobit’s heart is torn. He’s falling for Cora—yet his secret could ruin everything…

From Love Inspired: Uplifting stories of faith, forgiveness and hope.

Seven Amish Sisters

Book 1: Her Surprise Christmas Courtship
Book 2: Falling for the Amish Bad Boy
Book 3: The Teacher’s Christmas Secret

Human nature being what it is Cora Koffman tries not to be upset and jealous when newcomer to their Honeycomb, Delaware Amish school Tobit Lapp gets the teaching job she has yearned for. Getting off on the wrong foot, anger clouds her judgement of widowed Tobit who has a young teenaged son.

When an accident proves disastrous to Tobit and leaves him unable to teach, he reluctantly lets her take his place while he recovers.

I’ve seen this in stories a lot recently, the grumpy and sunshine pair and it actually works in most books including this one.

Having never taught before Cora is nervous but excited about teaching and she excels at it. As she spends more time with him, he sees how smart she is and realizes some of her teaching ideas really are great and they implement them into the teaching program. I enjoyed reading about the Christmas program the teacher and children are putting together.

Cora and Tobit seem to be falling for each other and Cora looks forward to being courted by Tobit until an unbelievable secret comes to light. Will the romance be able to possibly be saved?

I’ve really enjoyed many books by this author in the past. The books feel realistic, and I love her writing style, it is realistic and encouraging. Though a short book the story feels complete and not rushed. I suggest you read the other books in the series though each story is a stand alone.

Happy Publication Day and Blog Tour for The Gingerbread House in Mistletoe Gardens by Jaimie Admans

I’m so delighted to welcome you onto my blog today for the blog tour of The Gingerbread House in Mistletoe Gardens. You can’t go wrong with a book filled with gingerbread!

ABOUT THE BOOK

The Gingerbread House in Mistletoe Gardens

In Mistletoe Gardens a legend exists: anyone who kisses underneath the mistletoe will be guaranteed another year of love…

When local baker Essie Browne discovers that Mistletoe Gardens is to be demolished in January, she’s determined to save the place she loves so much. So Essie proposes building a life size gingerbread house to bring in the crowds…just how hard can it be?

Well, quite hard actually. Essie can bake gingerbread blindfolded, but she hasn’t got a clue how to build an actual house with it! She needs help – and fast!

Enter local builder, Joss Hallissey. Essie is convinced that with Joss’s help they can pull this off. There’s just one tiny problem: Joss hates Christmas, gingerbread, and… well, just about everything else too.

Joss the Grinch makes it clear that her idea is ludicrous and pointless, but he reluctantly agrees to help with her plan.

Will the gingerbread house be enough to save Mistletoe Gardens? Or will Essie’s chance for a magical kiss under the mistletoe be lost forever?

Perfect for fans of Holly Martin, Kat French and Caroline Roberts!

MY THOUGHTS

As with all of the author’s Christmas books, I’ve found this one to be drenched in Christmas descriptions and vibes and I mean this in a great way. I love a descriptive Christmas book.

Our main character works at her mom’s bakery and it keeps her quite occupied. I really loved the gingerbread facts at the beginning of each chapter. Not much more Christmassy than a huge gingerbread house.

This is exactly what our main character is trying to build, a life-size version of one, to try to save the beloved Mistletoe Gardens.

This is where we meet Mr. Grumpy, he hates Christmas and just about everything else. Is this where our Ms. Sunshine can come in and show him the holidays aren’t all that bad?

I loved reading about the kissing under the mistletoe tradition. I held my breath to see if Mistletoe Garden could be saved from those who want to get rid of the traditions and replace it with a shopping center.

With the holiday season you can expect the best type of magic to come around though. Fun, fantastic and an all-around charmer. I always look forward to the author’s holiday books!

Through the Snow Globe: A Charming and Uplifting Holiday Read by Annie Rains

306 PAGES August 22,2023 publication date Kensington publishers

About The Book

What if you could have one more day with someone you lost?

Diana Merriman, a physical therapist, is probably the only person in the small town of Snow Haven, North Carolina, who isn’t looking forward to Christmas. It’s been three weeks since her fiancé Linus was critically injured when a car hit him as he biked home from the toy store he owns and manages. Watching him open his eyes is the only gift she wants, but she can’t help losing a little more hope every day.

But an unexpected visit from a friendly neighbor and finding a snow globe of Snow Haven—a gift Linus had hidden in the closet—the night before Christmas Eve changes things in ways Diana never would have imagined. Because on Christmas Eve Diana wakes up to find that it’s not—Christmas Eve, that is. Instead, it’s somehow December 4 all over again, the day Linus got hurt, and as mystified as Diana is, she immediately starts a plan to save her partner from his fate.

Nothing is that simple, of course. Instead of a single repeat of that day, Diana finds herself in an endless loop of December 4, experiencing every possible variation of events. Along the way, she uncovers startling truths about herself, her relationship, and even her career that illustrate the ways she’s retreated from her life—and in the face of life’s slights and outright blows, from her deepest feelings. Suddenly hope is second only to joy as Diana opens her heart to the people she loves in every way she can.

My Thoughts

I have enjoyed books by this author in the past and I just knew this would be such an enjoyable read. I am so ready to start reading this year’s Christmas books.
Through the Snow Globe is fun, caring and optimistic.
I have not read many time-loop books but this one was a hit with me and now I’ll be looking for more.

Diana Merriman, a physical therapist, is not looking forward to Christmas. Her fiancée has been critically injured on his bicycle and is fighting for his life. Before his serious injury their relationship isn’t in the best shape.

He really would like to make wedding plans but she’s avoiding anything wedding related. She wants to advance in her career first. I didn’t like Diana’s character at first, she seems self-centered.

When Diana finds an enchanted snow globe in Linus’s closet it changes her life. This beautiful snow globe puts her in a time-loop as she relives December 4th over and over again. She experiences every possible scenario of what has already happened on this day. The good and the bad. Diana learns a lot about self-discovery and what really is important in life and her relationships.

You can emphasize with her character as she knows what’s going to happen. I just loved the ending and seeing Diana and Linus having another chance at happiness.

I was given a complimentary copy of this book.
All opinions expressed are my own.

After her divorce, Ruth McCoy is eager to trade her children’s painful memories for new holiday traditions. But Ruth has a whole new set of distractions when fate brings the man she once loved together with the son he never knew he had . . .

Besides, the kid reminds Judd of the young man he once was. A man who believed anything was possible . . .

Powerless to deny the growing bond between her son and Judd, Ruth knows it’s only a matter of time before her secret is discovered. But will the revelation shatter the tender feelings between her and Judd—or turn out to be her family’s greatest gift?

My Thoughts

This is what you think of when you think of a Hallmark movie.
Part of the Christmas Tree Ranch series and the second book I’ve read in the series. Last year’s Christmas book was the first book. I can tell you this much, I will be needing to go to my library and find the rest of the books in this incredible series. I haven’t read many books by this author; I know she has quite a few but the ones I’ve read I’ve enjoyed quite a bit.

When you’re thinking of what makes a Christmas book fulfilling this is the type of book you’ll think of. Richly detailed for Christmas but the book doesn’t go overboard with sickeningly sweet like some books do, small town, children, wonderful characters, engaging plot and a realistic romance.

Divorced mother, Ruth McCoy just wants her children to have happy Christmas memories and wants to start new family traditions. A mama bear she will do all she can to protect these children, even her oldest a fifteen-year-old boy who is out to prove he’s a man who doesn’t really need Mama’s guidance, but we all know they do at that age.

A run in with an old flame stirs up memories on both of their parts and we get a flash back to Ruth and Judd’s past. Can he convince her a second chance romance with him is the best thing for her and her children or is it all just water under the bridge best left in the past?

A very warm and welcoming story where the characters seem like friends you’d want to stop and have coffee with. Will a secret from Ruth’s past put the brakes on the budding relationship between Ruth and Judd? A sweet romance that’ll surely get you in the holiday mood.

Once Upon a December a paranormal Christmas on repeat story by Amy E. Reichert

336 pages October 4,2022 publication date Berkley publisher

About The Book

“An absolutely perfect holiday hug.”–New York Times bestselling author Christina Lauren

“This feel-good novel brings tidings of joy.”–Woman’s World

A one-of-a-kind Christmas market offers holiday magic in this new romance from the author of The Kindred Spirits Supper Club.

With a name like Astra Noel Snow, holiday spirit isn’t just a seasonal specialty—it’s a way of life. But after a stinging divorce, Astra’s yearly trip to the Milwaukee Christmas market takes on a whole new meaning. She’s ready to eat, drink, and be merry, especially with the handsome stranger who saves the best kringle for her at his family bakery.

For Jack Clausen, the Julemarked with its snowy lights and charming shops stays the same, while the world outside the joyful street changes, magically leaping from one December to the next every four weeks. He’s never minded living this charmed existence until Astra shows him the life he’s been missing outside of the festive red brick alley.

After a swoon-worthy series of dates, some Yuletide magic, and the unexpected glow of new love, Astra and Jack must decide whether this relationship can weather all seasons, or if what they’re feeling is as ephemeral as marshmallows in a mug of hot cocoa.

These easy Kringla cookies are a traditional Scandinavian family favorite that’s perfect for Christmas, or any time of year! With just a few easy ingredients and no special equipment needed, you’ll have the softest, most pillowy cookies that you and your family will adore!

Website here

My Thoughts

I would say there were positives and negatives about this book. This is another quirky and out of the ordinary Christmas themed book.
I’ll admit I was a bit confused as I read this one.

I will say it has a very strong Christmasy vibe which added to the authenticity of Christmas time. This is the romantic story of Astra Noel Snow, a recently divorced librarian and Jack Clausen whose family owns a bakery. Every December there is a Milwaukee Christmas market and Astra loves it.

This Christmas market is in an alley only accessible during Julemarked, a fabulous Christmas world where Jack lives. Every 4 weeks Julemarked transfers to another place and the people you meet during Julemarked you don’t remember from year to year.

If Jack goes outside of this magical Christmas world, he feels dizzy and nauseated.
When Jack starts saving the best Kringle cookies for Astra they know they may have something special. Can it possibly work out though she’s in the regular world and he lives in a special Christmas world?

Christmas in July Reads-Just Like Magic by Sarah Hogle

365 pages publish date October 4, 2022 publisher G.P. Putnam’s Sons

Hello,

I hope you’re having a great day and that you’ve been enjoying my Christmas in July reads I’ve been sending. I am not sure how many more if any I’ll be able to read and review this month as I have other reading commitments not related to Christmas books. I have a few more blog tours and cover reveals and a few more I need to read and post in a timely manner before the end of the month.

About The Book

The holidays were never her thing, until she accidentally conjures the Holiday Spirit…before her very eyes.

Bettie Hughes once knew the comfort of luxury, flaunting a collection of designer purses and an enviable dream home in Hawaii. That was before she lost all her money. Long obsessed with her public image, Bettie boasts an extravagant lifestyle on social media. But the reality is Bettie is broke and squatting in Colorado, and her family has no idea.

Christmas, with its pressure to meet familial expectations, is looming when Bettie plays a vinyl record of “All I Want for Christmas Is You” backward and accidentally conjures up Hall, the Holiday Spirit, in the form of a charming and handsome (if offbeat) man. Once the shock wears off, Bettie knows she’s stumbled upon the greatest gift: a chance to make all her holiday wishes come true, plus a ready-made fiancé.

But as some of Bettie’s wishes lose their charm, she finds herself thrown off-kilter by Hall’s sweet nature. Suddenly, grumpy Bettie is finding her heart merry and light. But the happier she gets, the shorter Hall’s time on earth grows. Can Bettie channel the Christmas spirit and learn to live with goodwill toward all men? Or will her selfish ways return as soon as the holidays are over?

My Thoughts

This is different than the typical Christmas book I usually read which I didn’t realize until I started reading it. I don’t read or enjoy fantasy books which is what this felt like it was.
Our main character is a down on her luck social media influencer. She has a whiny feel sorry for me attitude and is jealous of her sister. She conjures up The Holiday Spirit, accidently.

I guess that’s one way to get in the holiday spirit when you’ve lost all your money you got from promotional products and can no longer afford expensive foreign vacations or designer threads, but your family doesn’t know yet. Named after her famous movie star grandmother she feels as though she must always measure up.

The book felt strange in a way to me because of the lack of realistic material. Whatever she thinks of or dreams up it happens in the way of holiday things. From creating a winter themed room to ice skating if she wants it, it’s there as long as it’s holiday themed. Meanwhile she knows he’ll be gone as soon as Christmas is over, but she can’t help but falling in love. This may be the perfect book for some, but it was not for me.

Christmas in July Reads, Christmas Miracles at Hedgehog Hollow: A festive, heartfelt read from Jessica Redland

402 pages publication date Sep 6, 2022 publisher Boldwood Books

About The Book

It’s the countdown to Christmas at Hedgehog Hollow Wildlife Rescue Centre, and everyone is gearing up for a festive season to remember…

It should be the most wonderful time of the year for Samantha and Josh as they prepare for the arrival of their first baby. But life at Hedgehog Hollow rarely goes to plan and the pair are faced with adversaries, old and new, and unexpected challenges to overcome.

Fizz’s job at the heart of the rescue centre is a dream come true but her personal life is more like a nightmare. With her love life a disaster and her past about to dramatically catch up with her, she needs the love and support of her Hedgehog Hollow family more than ever.

As the snow falls over Hedgehog Hollow, will Samantha and Fizz find the Christmas miracle they need to overcome their heartache and find happiness?

Top 10 bestseller Jessica Redland welcomes you back to Hedgehog Hollow this Christmas for the final time in this series for a heartfelt story of love, family, friendship – and hedgehogs of course!

My Thoughts

Warm, witty and entertaining! I have read so many books by this author and loved them all. You better believe when I see she has a new book out I scoop it right up to read.

Christmas Miracles at Hedgehog Hollow is the wrap-up of the Hedge Hollow series. There are six books in this series. I’d advise you to read the other books in the series and we see quite a few of the characters in previous books featured and you’d need to know their back story to fully enjoy this book.

Some may say rom-coms are fluff and non-substantial. To this I say, not true at all. This book while warm and very festive touches on some pretty serious subjects that the author sensitively addresses. She also has a note in her book addressing this.

It was fun doing a catch up with the characters and seeing how things are progressing with them. I really enjoyed reading the facts about the hedgehogs and about their rescues. One even gave birth 🙂

I’ve already read several more books by this author since this has published and I’ll be looking forward to reading many more as they publish. Pub Date 06 Sep 2022 I was given a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions expressed are my own.

The Author

Thank you so much for looking at one of my books and a very warm welcome to two gorgeous Yorkshire settings: Whitsborough Bay on the North Yorkshire coast and Hedgehog Hollow on the Yorkshire Wolds.

I write uplifting stories of love and friendship. You’ll meet some new friends who’ll raise a smile and perhaps draw a few tears. I adore my characters so, if you do find yourself reaching for the tissues, don’t worry because I promise I will never leave them without a heartwarming happy ending.

All my books work as complete standalone stories but some are part of a series and others are connected. The Welcome to Whitsborough Bay series and the Hedgehog Hollow series are best enjoyed when read in order and, if taking a trip to Castle Street at Christmas, I’d recommend Christmas at Carly’s Cupcakes before Starry Skies Over The Chocolate Pot Café.

I hope you decide to dive in and that you enjoy your visit to Yorkshire. Thanks again for looking.

Big hugs, Jessica xx
