Blog Tour for The Midwife of Berlin by Anna Stuart

I welcome you onto my blog today for the blog tour by Bookouture of The Midwife of Berlin by Anna Stuart.

THE MIDWIFE OF BERLIN: COMPLETELY UNFORGETTABLE AND TOTALLY HEARTBREAKING WW2 HISTORICAL FICTION by Anna Stuart

Auschwitz, 1943: I stroke my beautiful baby’s hair. It’s a miracle it’s blonde because it will keep her alive, it will keep her safe. Soon they will come and take Pippa out of Auschwitz-Birkenau – and out of my arms. But while there’s life, there’s hope I might find my daughter again…
An incredible story of one woman’s courage and determination to reunite her family in the aftermath of surviving Auschwitz.
1945, Berlin: Ester Pasternak walked out of the gates of Auschwitz barely alive. She survived against devastating odds, but her heartbreaking journey is only just beginning. In the camp, Ester gave birth to a tiny fair-haired infant, only for her precious baby to be snatched from her and taken to a German family. Now the war is over, Ester longs to find her little girl.
But Europe is in chaos, Jewish families have been torn apart and everyone is desperately searching for their loved ones. In every orphanage and hospital she visits, Ester searches the faces of tear-stained toddlers; each mop of blonde hair and pair of blue eyes she sees sets her heart racing…
But as the months and the years tick by, the possibility of finding her daughter shrinks smaller and smaller. And Ester starts to wonder if little Pippa is even safe, or whether the miracle that saved her has now put her in even more danger?
Will Ester ever be able to find the child whose tattoo matches her own? Or is she already too late…
A completely gripping and emotional WW2 novel of one woman’s bravery and determination to hold on to hope in a world torn apart by war. Perfect for fans of The Tattooist of AuschwitzThe Alice Network and The Nightingale.

Though this book was so hard to read I am so glad the author has written it. We need to never forget those who were tortured during the Holocaust.

My heart aches for the people subjected to such inhumane treatment. I really don’t understand how they could treat another human being the way they did. Reading this book absolutely broke my heart. I have never read such a realistic book about Auschwitz!

Though hard to read it’s such an important story that needed telling!
A haunting story that will stay with me long after I’ve turned the last page.

I’ve always been able to count on realistic and heartbreaking historical fiction from the author that I must read.

As I flipped the pages, I was holding my breath praying for the safety of the characters.
Gripping and emotional, this author’s books are a must read for me. The strength and resilience the women show in a time of darkness is a shining example of bravery and the will to go on.

Anna Stuart lives in Derbyshire with her campervan-mad husband, two hungry teenagers and a slightly loopy dog. She was hooked on books from the moment she first opened one in her cot so is thrilled to now have several of her own to her name. Having studied English literature at Cambridge university, she took an enjoyable temporary trip into the ‘real world’ as a factory planner, before returning to her first love and becoming an author. History has also always fascinated her. Living in an old house with a stone fireplace, she often wonders who sat around it before her and is intrigued by how actively the past is woven into the present, something she likes to explore in her novels. Anna loves the way that writing lets her ‘try on’ so many different lives, but her favourite part of the job is undoubtedly hearing from readers. Happy Publication Day and Blog Tour for The Gingerbread House in Mistletoe Gardens by Jaimie Admans

I’m so delighted to welcome you onto my blog today for the blog tour of The Gingerbread House in Mistletoe Gardens. You can’t go wrong with a book filled with gingerbread!

ABOUT THE BOOK

The Gingerbread House in Mistletoe Gardens

In Mistletoe Gardens a legend exists: anyone who kisses underneath the mistletoe will be guaranteed another year of love…

When local baker Essie Browne discovers that Mistletoe Gardens is to be demolished in January, she’s determined to save the place she loves so much. So Essie proposes building a life size gingerbread house to bring in the crowds…just how hard can it be?

Well, quite hard actually. Essie can bake gingerbread blindfolded, but she hasn’t got a clue how to build an actual house with it! She needs help – and fast!

Enter local builder, Joss Hallissey. Essie is convinced that with Joss’s help they can pull this off. There’s just one tiny problem: Joss hates Christmas, gingerbread, and… well, just about everything else too.

Joss the Grinch makes it clear that her idea is ludicrous and pointless, but he reluctantly agrees to help with her plan.

Will the gingerbread house be enough to save Mistletoe Gardens? Or will Essie’s chance for a magical kiss under the mistletoe be lost forever?

Perfect for fans of Holly Martin, Kat French and Caroline Roberts!

MY THOUGHTS

As with all of the author’s Christmas books, I’ve found this one to be drenched in Christmas descriptions and vibes and I mean this in a great way. I love a descriptive Christmas book.

Our main character works at her mom’s bakery and it keeps her quite occupied. I really loved the gingerbread facts at the beginning of each chapter. Not much more Christmassy than a huge gingerbread house.

This is exactly what our main character is trying to build, a life-size version of one, to try to save the beloved Mistletoe Gardens.

This is where we meet Mr. Grumpy, he hates Christmas and just about everything else. Is this where our Ms. Sunshine can come in and show him the holidays aren’t all that bad?

I loved reading about the kissing under the mistletoe tradition. I held my breath to see if Mistletoe Garden could be saved from those who want to get rid of the traditions and replace it with a shopping center.

With the holiday season you can expect the best type of magic to come around though. Fun, fantastic and an all-around charmer. I always look forward to the author’s holiday books!

Blog Tour for The Gingerbread Christmas Village by Kiley Dunbar

Have you started reading Christmas books for the season yet? Well, I am delighted to invite you onto my blog today to tell you about The Gingerbread Christmas Village. It’s such a warm and uplifting seasonal book.

ABOUT THE BOOK

The Gingerbread Christmas Village

Everyone deserves a Christmas treat…

The annual Wheaton gingerbread exhibit (a model village made of gingerbread) and grotto has been an important part of the sleepy Cotswold hamlet’s Christmas celebrations for decades.

For years the gingerbread exhibition drew visitors from across the region and each year the model town grew more elaborate and ambitious but recently, interest has been dwindling. The gingerbread grotto needs to be rehomed or close forever.

Sixty-four-year-old Margi, the event’s founder, has had enough of village life (and its total lack of eligible men) and is planning to sell up and head to Birmingham to live closer to her niece.

She has lost her spark and her Christmas spirit and decides this will be her last gingerbread village, but despairs when she finds her only support is her old friend, Izzy, her niece Lucy from Birmingham, and Fern, the shy young farmer’s daughter. Oh, and Patrick, the gorgeous, reliable school caretaker.

As if this wasn’t enough, Lucy is determined to get her out dating again and persuades her to try some online dating apps but Margi’s had her heart broken too many times and wonders if she has just missed her chance.

Can they save the Gingerbread Grotto and can Margi get her old spark and her Christmas spirit back?

A cosy, totally feelgood seasonal read that will have you smiling. The perfect read to snuggle up and have you feeling festive! Fans of Jenny Colgan and Trisha Ashley will love this book.

MY THOUGHTS

Every year I look forward to starting to read Christmas books and after reading several books by this author that I loved so much I knew this one would be a delight.
I mean just seeing the word gingerbread in the title you envision Christmassy goodness.
I was delighted to discover this book features a sixty-something heroine.

I just loved Margi, she’s had her knocks, and she starts out with her spunk lost. She’s a middle-aged lady she’s had good and bad in life including a humiliation and none of us likes that.

She’s a relatable character, she worries, and has her insecurities but she sees the positive and works towards it. She needs a confidence booster and gets it in a big way.
The author does descriptions right, her small-town Christmas time feel was just right. While Margi may have lost her spunk when we start out, she’s got that sparkle back in her eyes by books end.

Warm and welcoming this book will be a welcome addition to your holiday reading.

Blog Tour for Love Blossoms at Puddleduck Farm by Della Galton

Love Blossoms at Puddleduck Farm by Della Galton

Love Blossoms at Puddleduck Farm

How can life be too busy for love?

Phoebe Dashwood is living the dream. She’s running her own successful vet practice, Puddleduck Vets, alongside her grandmother’s animal sanctuary.

She’s also dating the gorgeous, yet slightly broken Rufus Holt, the most eligible bachelor in the New Forest.
So why isn’t she blissfully happy?

Both Phoebe and Rufus are consumed 24/7 by their own commitments. Their relationship is always last on the list.
Phoebe juggles quirky, yet demanding clients and their pets whilst widowed Rufus is consumed by his anxieties, responsibilities of fatherhood and the unenviable tasks of being a Lord in waiting with a huge estate to manage.

Phoebe knows that when you’re a vet, there isn’t always a happy ending. But will there be a happy ending for Phoebe, Rufus and everyone else at Puddleduck Farm?
Is it ever really possible to have it all?

Purchase Link https://mybook.to/loveblossomssocial

My Thoughts

Even if I hadn’t already read several of the other books in the Puddleduck Farm series I would have been drawn to the charming cover of this book. You can’t go wrong with a book full of animals on a farm even if some of the animals are causing drama. I am a huge animal lover so of course a book with an animal sanctuary and a practicing vet that we get to go along with on her daily animal duties. How about the one where she delivers a calf in a field under the moonlight? I don’t think this bit of moonlight had any romance in it. Phoebe should be thrilled to bits running a successful vet business and her grandmother’s animal sanctuary along with all this success, she’s dating handsome widowed Rufus, Lord in waiting of the manor. Except when you seem to have it all, do you really? Phoebe and Rufus have so many responsibilities and duties their relationship is on the back burner of well, everything. I enjoyed seeing characters from previous books and meeting new characters as well. These characters added humor, friendship and charm to the story. Full of self-discovery, friendship, charm and warmth. A relatable story that you’re going to want to read. Part of a series but this can easily be read as a stand-alone story.

About The Book

The Start of Something Wonderful

Autumn Laine has lost her creative sparkle. After losing her grandad and her job as an illustrator in quick succession, she is at a crossroads in life and needs a break. Spending time with her parents in Paris, even in the artistic community of Montmartre, doesn’t appear to be the answer.

So when her penpal, Rosie, invites her to stay in the Lake District, Autumn jumps at the chance to get away from the hustle and bustle of Paris. After all, where better to re-discover her creativity than the place which inspired her heroine, Beatrix Potter?

Arriving at the picturesque lakeside village of Willowdale, Autumn is swept up by the beauty and magic of the stunning landscape. Welcomed into the community with open arms, she slowly starts to feel like herself again as her creative instincts re-ignite.

But when she meets Dane, who has escaped to the Lakes for his own reasons, will Autumn’s walls come down to let someone in again after so long? Or will the secrets of her past continue to hold her back?

A new beginning is a daunting prospect, but could it be the start of something wonderful too..?

Join million-copy bestseller Jessica Redland for a brand new series, full of love, friendship and community.

My Thoughts

Though I was sad to see Jessica Redland’s Hedgehog series end I am delighted to see a new series beginning with the first in the series “The Start of Something Wonderful.” Full of a heartwarming story, hope, laughter, friendships, love, laughter and so much more. Small town vibes with such a cozy feel to it that you’ll just love. Autumn Laine was very close to her Grandad . When she loses him and her illustrator job she’s broken. She accepts her parents offer of visiting them in Paris. She hasn’t been back since a breakup many years ago. Though she’s an artist the artistic community of Montmartre just doesn’t feel right either. Though trying to avoid it a ghost from her past resurfaces, an old boyfriend who she had an extensive past with. As we read about their backstory, we get a clear understanding of their previous relationship. Autumn is an illustrator of greeting cards but has lost her mojo after her grandfather’s death. Upon meeting a new man their friendship progresses rather quickly as her encourages her with her artistic abilities and they may collaborate on a project. When her old flame is once again interested i rekindling things and her new beau wants to take it to the next level, how will she choose. I really loved the references to the Beatrix Potter illustrations, her gardens and home. The mentions of the many woodland animals and all the other animals was a welcome addition to the story. Warm and pleasant, I loved this story and its characters and look forward to many more additions to this series.

Release Day Post-Blog Tour for With Love, From Cold World by Alicia Thompson

WITH LOVE, FROM COLD WORLD by Alicia Thompson is out today and I cannot wait to introduce you to this book. I absolutely love this cover as well!

394 pages Berkley publisher August 1,2023 publish date

About The Book

She has a to-do list a mile long and falling for her coworker isn’t on it—yet somehow he’s become her top priority in this romantic comedy from the national bestselling author of Love in the Time of Serial Killers.

Lauren Fox is the bookkeeper for Cold World, a tourist destination that’s always a winter wonderland despite being located in humid Orlando, Florida. Sure, it’s ranked way below any of the trademarked amusement parks and maybe foot traffic could be better. But it’s a fun place to work, even if “fun” isn’t exactly Lauren’s middle name.

Her coworker Asa Williamson, on the other hand, is all about finding ways to enliven his days at Cold World—whether that means organizing the Secret Santa or teasing Lauren. When the owner asks Lauren and Asa to propose something (anything, really) to raise more revenue, their rivalry heats up as they compete to come up with the best idea. But the situation is more dire than they thought, and it might take these polar opposites working together to save the day. If Asa thought Lauren didn’t know how to enjoy herself, he’s surprised by how much he enjoys spending time together. And if Lauren thought Asa wasn’t serious about anything, she’s surprised by how seriously he seems to take her

As Lauren and Asa work to save their beloved wintery spot, they realize the real attraction might be the heat generating between them.

My Thoughts

When you discover a new to you author with a book you absolutely love and can’t put down.
First off, that cover. Gorgeous and so eye catching. It says cold and hot at the same time.

I knew this would be a love story but without having read the author yet, I thought it would be your typical romance. It was so much more. I haven’t read a romance this emotional in a while.

I just loved the concept of “Cold World” an indoor fun world bringing the outdoors inside. Cold World has all the cold fun you could want with an indoor skating rink, falling snow, a magical snow globe, frigidly cold temperatures and more. I thought it was a pretty neat concept and it’s set in Florida as well.

The romance is hot and steamy. A friends to lover’s romance. Coworkers that have worked together a long time begin to see each other in a new light.
The book felt very realistic, each of the leads has insecurities they need to work through and with the other person they receive emotional support.

One of the leads is bisexual and has been estranged from his family for most of his adult life since his forced coming out.
There is an unexpected family reunion with our hero and his family.
There is a strong sense of transparency with our main characters they put themselves out there and open up to each other leaving themselves vulnerable if the other wanted to take advantage of them.

They each have an important back story which helps to explain why they have the insecurities they do. There are some trigger warnings that the author makes a note of. I really loved how even while going through so many personal things the author portrays a united front with our two main characters and the support, they give each other. Definitely an author on my radar that I’ll be reading more of in the future.

Blog Tour for In the Weeds (Lovelight Book 2) by B.K. Borison

410 pages original publication date April 18, 2022 republished July 4, 2023 Berkley publisher

About The Book

A grumpy farmer and a no-nonsense social media influencer have another chance at love in this charming romantic comedy.

Evelyn St. James isn’t the kind of woman you forget. Beckett Porter certainly hasn’t. One incredible weekend in Maine, and he’s officially a man distracted. He’s not unfamiliar with hot and heavy flings, but Evie wove some sort of magic over him during their tumble in the sheets. He can’t stop thinking about her laugh. Her hand pressed flat against his chest. Her smiling mouth at his neck.

So when she suddenly appears on his farm as part of a social media contest, he is…confused. He had no idea that the sweet and sexy woman he met at a bar is actually a global phenomenon. When Evie disappears again, Beckett resolves to finally move on.

But Evie, who has been feeling disconnected from her work and increasingly dissatisfied with life online, is trying to find her way back to something real. She returns to the last place she was happy: Lovelight Farms and the tiny town of Inglewild. And it has absolutely nothing to do with the hot farmer she spent two incredible nights with.

The Series

In The Weeds Here

My Thoughts

Several months ago, I got my introduction to B.K. Borison’s book while reading Lovelight. The book is phenomenal, and I couldn’t wait to read In the Weeds and am so glad I did.
Grumpy meets Sunshine in In the Weeds. Beckett Porter is in charge of Lovelight Farms, you could call him Mr. Grumpy. Evelyn St. James is a social influencer; traveling is just another day on the job. She doesn’t particularly enjoy it anymore; the likes and comments online just don’t give her the excitement it used to. I absolutely loved the dynamics between Beckett and Evelyn. She’s quite a distraction to him after meeting. He’s had a few flings, not really caring if they come or go. When Evelyn hits the scene, this changes his perspective tremendously. He wants her in his life but with her leaving and returning several times, can he trust her to stay put? One of the most sensual books I’ve read in quite a while. Can he convince her true “happy place” is with him on the farm? This series is my happy place for sure, I just love it. I’m looking forward to reding the next in the series, Mixed Signals. That’ll be up soon for me. Can’t wait to see what else she’ll come out with.

Pub date 4 July 2023.

About The Book

Little Lost Dolls: An absolutely gripping crime thriller with a shocking twist (Detective Jo Fournier Book 7) by M. M. Chouinard

The young woman lying on the forest floor looks like she’s dreaming; her brown hair fanning out into a crown around her head, her hands clasped over her breast. She could be sleeping—if it weren’t for the brutal slash across her neck

It’s autumn in Oakhurst when Detective Jo Fournier rushes to local beauty spot, Crone Ridge Woods, desperately hoping to find Madison Coehlo alive. Instead, she discovers the pregnant woman’s pale and lifeless body, killed in the spot where she loved to walk her dog. Madison looked after her sick mother and studied at community college, who could have wished her harm?

Madison’s mother is utterly broken by her brutal murder, but she cannot give Jo any insight into the tiny doll pushed into her daughter’s hand. Supposed to bring luck to whoever finds one, is it a coincidence or a warning from the killer? When Jo gets another frantic emergency call, she rushes to the scene, determined to catch this cruel monster before he can steal more innocent lives. Her heart pounds when she finds another identical plastic doll.

As the local community panics, Jo and her team work round the clock to keep other pregnant women safe. My Thoughts

When a group of women plan a relaxing shopping trip and one of them turns up missing, they all are worried but hope their friend will be found soon. This pregnant woman is found in the wooded area that she walks her dog in, murdered.

After another pregnant friend is found murdered in the same area also with Satanic marks on her the town’s women are scared. Who would kill pregnant women and why, it is some crazy nutcase?

Linking the cases is a small plastic doll found in the hand of each of the women, a figure meant to bring luck.
When detective Jo realizes more women are in danger, she realizes she must race against the clock to keep these other pregnant women safe.

The author writes a fast-paced crime thriller that will have you racing through the pages as you hold your breath trying to figure out who and why. You will not see the unexpected twist coming.

M.M. Chouinard’s first fiction story was published in her local paper when she was eight, and she fell in love with Agatha Christie novels not long after. While pursuing a Ph.D in psychology and helping to found the first U.S. research university of the new millenium, the stories kept rattling around inside her skull, demanding to come out. For sanity’s sake, she released them. She’s currently at work on her seventh novel.

Bookouture Blog Tour for The Polish Daughter By Gosia Nealon

About The Book

Poland, 1944: Armed men line the streets herding us forward, ignoring screams as they pull people from the crowd. My heart pounds as I hear a familiar cry. They have hold of my darling friend. I desperately push through to her, to save her. But we are too densely packed in. I can’t hold back my sobs as she crumples. I am too late…

When war broke out, Julia’s father, a high-ranking Polish Officer, took her from Warsaw to keep her safe. Now, with her father missing-in-action, Julia has returned to find him and fight for the resistance—but the city is more dangerous than she ever thought it could be.

When she is trapped in the ghetto, Nazis dragging people into the streets all around her, Julia can only watch in horror as her dearest friend is pulled from the crowd. Heart shattering as her friend falls to the cobbled streets, Julia’s desperate screams attract the soldiers’ attention, and it seems she is about to suffer the same awful fate.

Until her childhood sweetheart, Nikolaj, appears in enemy uniform and stops the guards with one word. The boy Julia remembers would never side with the Germans: and in the safety of his private room, he explains he is a resistance spy within the ranks of Nazi officers. But the longer he keeps her in the barracks, surrounded by his soldiers, the more Julia grows uneasy about the man she once knew…

Half-Jewish and with her father a wanted man, how safe can she be behind enemy lines? Has her childhood friend become one of the monsters she has been fighting against? And if he has, will she ever be able to escape him?

Fans of Orphan Train, The Nightingale and The Tattooist of Auschwitz will adore this utterly heart-breaking page turner. You will not forget this unputdownable story of love, loss and the courage it takes to hold on to hope in darkest times.

The Polish Daughter (The Secret Resistance #3)

Published April 21st 2023 by Bookouture

My Thoughts

I have read many books touching on different topics of WWII, none have touched me the way this series has. Though this is a series each book may be read as a standalone though you’ll get more benefit of reading the entire series. I have learned so much by reading this series.

Have the tissues with you while reading. My heart broke for the mistreatment of the Polish people.

Beginning with the uprising of the Polish people in and near Warsaw. In Poland 1944, Julia’s father is a high-ranking officer and moves them out of Warsaw to keep them safe but goes mia. She must return to Poland to search for him, and she is also part of the resistance. When she sees a long-time childhood friend, she has always felt safe with she doesn’t understand why she sees him in a Nazi uniform.

Talking to her he explains he is really spying as a German soldier. Wanting to feel safe with him she overlooks his bizarre and changed personality, but should she examine it further?

This is an exceptional author who writes a true to life story that is not afraid to include the nitty gritty because after all this is true to life. Her stories always have the glimmer of light shining through in the absolute courageous actions of characters, unparallel bravery and putting other needs before their own. I will read every book this author writes!

The Author

While Gosia Nealon is a proud New Yorker, she was born and raised in Poland. Her journey to the Big Apple revealed a wealth of cultural differences, but also the values that connect us all. Like the fierce desire to protect family, find love, and ultimately, discover who we are and why we’re here.

Gosia’s award-winning short stories have always delved into life’s biggest questions, but it was the drama, sacrifice, and tragedy of WWII that led her to pen her debut novel, which won a gold medal in the 2022 Independent Publisher Book Awards (IPPY).

Growing up in Poland, Gosia heard many firsthand accounts of the war, told from a perspective rarely captured in mainstream literature. She was compelled to breathe life into two young people falling in love in the midst of the most terrifying conflict of our time.

When Gosia isn’t tapping away at her laptop, she’s often walking the streets of New York. With her husband and two young sons in tow, they search for the most succulent pierogi, transporting them back to the cobbled streets of her childhood.
