LBT Tour for Starting Over at Halesmere House

ABOUT THE BOOK

Can two broken hearts mend each other?

Taking over the Flower Shed studio at Halesmere, Alice is looking to mend her heart through horticulture after the end of her ten-year marriage. She isn’t looking for romance, especially not with brash young tree surgeon, Zac.

Zac has his own past he’s trying to move on from, and he’s only staying at Halesmere until the new year. But when their circumstances change in a way that shocks them both, they have to decide if they can share a future that already binds them.

Will the magic of Halesmere work once more to bring love to two lost souls?

A beautiful and heartfelt love story, for fans of Trisha Ashley and Heidi Swain.

MY THOUGHTS

I have been looking for upbeat and positive books recently and I’ve found it in the Love in the Lakes series. I’ve read the other two in the series and was thrilled to see another, Starting Over at Halesmere House.

I do suggest reading this series in order as the books do build off of each other and we also see new characters being introduced in each book. This is a bit different than a lot of romances as our female lead is the older one in this relationship.

I have long enjoyed this author’s work for its clean and encouraging writing. Alice is ready to move on in life after a bad series of events. She believes starting a new business at Halesmere House, where she has moved will be a wonderful fresh start.

Once there she meets tree surgeon Zac who is also staying there to help owner, Mac. He also has a past he’s trying to move on from and neither are looking for a romance. Zac and Alice enjoy each other’s company but know nothing lasting can come of it as Zac is only there temporarily.

Zac will be moving after Christmas starting a new job in Scotland. I feel as though the author draws you into the story making you a part of it.

The descriptions of the scenery are fabulous. The characters are fun and relatable. Emotional and sweet! I hope the series will continue as I really enjoy reading about these characters.

My Thoughts

Wedding Days at Halesmere House is the second book in the Love in the Lakes series.
We are back at Halesmere House in beautiful Cumbria with its beautiful gardens, the best hiking trails and unforgettable scenery for your photographs.
After a fire leaves the original venue unusable, events planner and maid-of-honour Lizzie Martin is thrilled her best friend Gemma has chosen Halesmere House as her wedding place. With the charming community in full support and guests coming and going, Halesmere House has really taken off as the happening place for events.
Lizzie is thrilled for her friend Gemma and her upcoming nuptials, but she has painful memories of a lost love a lifetime ago it seems. When she was eighteen, she fell for Cal a bartender at an event at Halesmere House. She thought their love would last a lifetime, but he disappeared just leaving behind his claddagh ring for her with no explanation or apology. She’s never forgotten or forgiven and is devastated to see him again after all this time at the Lake District artists’ residence.
If only those old feelings hadn’t cropped up again. Will she forgive and forget allowing him to explain?
Cal has never felt worthy of Lizzie and her family, a drifter and having no family to call his own how can he feel worthy of Lizzie’s loving family? Looking for his family is his biggest dream and why he’s back in the area. Will he get his happily ever after with Lizzie or find what his heart been yearning for? Warm, realistic, a true picker upper book. You won’t want to miss this dose of happiness.

My Thoughts

This is the first book in the Love in the Lakes series.
Halesmere sounds like such a beautiful place to visit, with its scenic gardens, lovely walking trails and the best climbing areas.
I know I’d love to walk there and relax in its floral gardens.
The author’s books are so heartwarming, they really draw you in.
Main character Ella Grant arrives to Halesmere House in Cumbria to take charge of re-opening the house.
Ella and Max are both suffering from losses which adds some emotional parts to the story.
Max’s children fall hard and fast for Ella. The children are both very young and impressionable and the author gets it right in her portrayal of the children. They are fun to be around and really enjoy their time with Ella; I think they miss a mother figure.
Having lost his wife Max is hesitant to allow his children to get too attached to Ella as she’s only going to be there for her job for a limited amount of time and then where would that leave the children after she leaves?
Max is borderline rude to Ella when we first meet them, but I think he’s scared to let himself relax and love again. It’s such a gradual change we see in Max’s behavior its almost not even noticeable, slow and steady we see a warming. He trusts Ella with his children and Max and Ella’s relationship takes a warming turn.
Warm welcoming story with the characters moving on from grief and once again finding happiness.
