Sunset on the Square: Escape on a Spanish holiday with this heartwarming love story (Island Romance Book 3)

250 pages February 25, 2021 publish date Canelo Romance publisher grab a copy here

Tropical beach vector illustration background

ABOUT THE BOOK

She never thought she’d love again…

In her late 50s and having lived in Tenerife for over 15 years, there’s not much on the island that can surprise widowed Elspeth. Until her hotelier friend asks her to put up a guest after they’ve overbooked – and handsome Charles is suddenly staying in very close quarters.

Long buried emotions are coming back to life.

Devastated by the death of her husband four years ago, Elspeth isn’t open to new romance. Yet something about Charles pulls her in, and they grow closer together. But Charles’ holiday is drawing to a close, and Elspeth needs to decide what she really wants – and how to get it.

The perfect holiday romance for fans of Holly Martin, Sue Moorcroft and Mandy Baggot.

MY THOUGHTS

I enjoy reading Lilac Mills books. They have a minimal amount of drama and always have a hea.

The descriptions of the little town of Santiago del Teide sound so refreshing. April would be the perfect month to visit with the sun coming up over the inactive volcano, light rain and year-round greenery giving way to an abundance of flowers.

Elspeth Evans is a middle-aged woman, widowed four years. She misses her husband so much. They were everything to each other and it’s still hard to believe he’s gone.

She occasionally rents a few rooms to make ends meet. She meets Charles Brown; her first male to rent a room since her husband has passed and does it ever feel strange to have another male in her home that’s not her husband. After he arrives he seems like a nice, presentable and polite gent. As they talk and get to know each other she recommends things to do, like hiking on the beautiful trails.

A misunderstanding gets her going along as a tour guide and they have a genuinely good and fun time and conversation. Though she’s not ready to meet and mingle she has started noticing how good looking he is and enjoying his company. He’s a divorced father of 2 grown daughters.

They breakfast together and genuinely enjoy each other’s company. When it’s time for him to leave will this friendship be swept away in the tides or will the island and her have a magnetic pull on him making him return?

The author writes a fun and realistic book from the heart. Family relationships are important, and the characters draw you in to care about them.

Christmas at Fox Farm: A heartwarming and uplifting Christmas romance

372 pages September 29,2021 publish date Bookouture publisher

ABOUT THE BOOK

Daisy is preparing to spend her first Christmas in the only place she’s ever really felt at home: beautiful Fox Farm. But when tragedy strikes, she will need all her festive cheer, and all the mulled wine, to keep Christmas from being cancelled…

Living atFox Farm, with its cosy café and charming pottery workshop, is a dream come true for thirty-one-year-old Daisy. The kindly owner, Jean, and the close-knit village feel like the family Daisy has never had. She’s been looking forward to finally having people to buy gifts for and to share cookies with in front of the fire after too much Christmas dinner.

When Jean suddenly falls ill, Daisy is the first to lend a hand in organising the holiday celebrations. She ropes in Alex – Jean’s handsome Scrooge of a nephew – to help her. From the get-go Daisy and Alex cannot agree on anything, butting heads through decorating disasters and tripping over each other at the holiday barn dance. Alex hates Christmas, and Daisy is feeling so festive she might as well be the fairy on top of the ten-foot tree. Can Daisy melt Alex’s icy exterior and prove to him just how magical Christmas can be?

But then Alex discovers Fox Farm is almost bankrupt, and suddenly its whole future is in jeopardy. They need a plan, and quickly, if Jean is to have a place to come back to this Christmas. Will Daisy be able to save the only real home she’s ever had? And might this Christmas be the beginning of something special?

Grab a mug of hot chocolate and a mince pie (or two!) and lose yourself in this utterly charming and romantic holiday tale that proves home is where the heart is. Perfect for fans of RaeAnne Thayne, Sarah Morgan and Heidi Swain, this is the book that will make your Christmas!

MY THOUGHTS

Fox Farm is home away from home for Alex. He’s spent many summer vacations there and he developed his love of the outdoors and gardening there. Now that’s he’s older and has taken on more responsibility, he’s opened up his own gardening shop.

When resident artist Daisy finds his aunt after she’s had a stroke, he just feels overwhelmed. How will he manage the running of Fox Farm this holiday season, his own gardening center and spend time with his aunt in the hospital?

The descriptions of the frost on the grass, the beautiful decorations and oh that Christmas tree reeled me right in. It’s all festively decorated, but getting there was a real team effort.

The whole village gathers to decorate and there was witty and fun banter as Alex and Daisy decorate, attend a holiday dance and grow closer. She’s easy to talk to and he could really use a helping hand.

Daisy is just what Alex needs to keep Fox Farm running this holiday season. I was pulled right in with this charming and feel-good story. Festive and bright a delightful holiday story.

Lots of information about Bletchley Park and the Codebreakers/WWII

MY THOUGHTS

What an excellent read. I’ve had this in my tbr pile for several years and I’m so glad I finally had a chance to get to it.

A beautiful time-slip historical fiction novel taking place in 1942, Bletchley Park and modern times. I know when I read a time-slip I usually connect with one of the time periods more but in this book, I’ve enjoyed reading both time periods equally.

A young married woman, Julia is frustrated. She has two young boys, an inattentive husband, jealous of her being the breadwinner in the family. He just doesn’t seem to have the time or interest in her anymore though she tries to hold it all together, cooking, cleaning, being super Mom, working and being there for her husband.

Her brother thinks he’ll help distract her and gives her forgotten photos of her grandmother during a family clean out after her death. Once she starts investigating, she finds out so much. Pamela, her grandmother has given up a fantastic schooling offer at Oxford University to become a codebreaker at Bletchley Park. Julia had no idea her grandmother had done this because she never once spoke of this.

The older generation kept secrets of this tragic time they were told to never talk about even to family members and their secrets died with them. While at Bletchley Park, two men vie for her attention, but she makes her choice and the other remains her friend. As Julia finds out more information from her grandmother’s best friends daughter things become clearer.

The secrets are slowly unwrapped like tissue paper, not too much is revealed at a time. Each story progresses in its time period, I could hardly put this down and read it in one day.

Some very surprising events happened to each woman, but these women are strong and have the support of family. They know what’s important is not themselves but their family. Heartbreaking but the light shines through with these women’s resilience.

Blog Tour for Christmas Memories at Waterside Cottage by K.T.Dady

ABOUT THE BOOK

Christmas Memories at Waterside Cottage

Welcome to Pepper Bay, where you’ll find love, drama, and a happily ever after.

Snuggle down with this cosy, feel-good, comfort read that whisks you away to a beautiful bay on the Isle of Wight – Perfect for fans of Christie Barlow, Alison Sherlock, Rachael Lucas, and Holly Martin.

The Pepper Bay books are standalone stories that intertwine with recurring characters. Best enjoyed when read in order.

Christmas Memories at Waterside Cottage: Charlie and Grace have been together for four years, but when Grace wakes up in hospital after an accident, she doesn’t remember her husband at all. With Christmas just around the corner, and it being their favourite time of year, Charlie pulls out all the festive stops, hoping his wife will remember their relationship or at least fall in love with him all over again, because there is no way he can lose her.

MY THOUGHTS

I have read several books in the Pepper Bay series. They are not long books but believe me, you get a full story. The books are heartwarming and realistic with a little drama and a few things to work through in life.

No one’s idea of fun would be to wake up in a hospital with some of their memory gone, but this is exactly what happens to our main female character. Family is everything in this book. I love seeing the family comradery. She has several sisters and parents giving her support.

Now I just loved her husband’s character. He is incredibly supportive. She doesn’t remember being married to him and I wasn’t sure until very close to the end if she would want to stay with him as memories resurfaced, if she would fall in love with him anew or she wouldn’t feel comfortable staying with him.
I could understand if he would become frustrated or mad at her for her lack of memory but he’s so gentle and understanding, not rushing her and her feelings.

I loved the compassion shown to the donkeys at the Donkey Sanctuary. Animals make a story better and bring out the compassion in people.
This Christmas book is fun and festive and will put you in the holiday mood with its snowmen, holiday drinks and family time spent at a Christmas tree farm.

Warm and beautifully written I will now be catching up on the rest of the series.

Blog Tour-Chasing Dreams at Wagging Tails’ Dogs Home

ABOUT THE BOOK

Chasing Dreams At Wagging Tails Dog’s Home

After a difficult break-up, Poppy is keen to put the past behind her and what’s better than some relaxing time with her aunt in the picturesque Cornish village of West Par.

But life at her aunt Flora’s Dogs’ Home is anything but relaxing. When a poor little pup is stranded at the gates, Poppy takes them for a check up at the local vet, hoping against hope they’ll be fine.

And there she meets Mack: the vet who is so charming and experienced with the dogs, but selfish and – dare she say it – money-grabbing with his clients.

But underneath that cold exterior, she’s sure there’s more to the story. If only she could convince him to open up. Because without him, the future of Wagging Tails isn’t so assured…

MY THOUGHTS

After a bad breakup leaves Poppy wishing it was more on than off, she knows just the thing to do. She’ll help her aunt at the Wagging Tails Dogs Home her aunt runs and funds herself with very little financial outside help.

has been there before multiple times helping her aunt at her pet rescue but not recently. The Cornish village of West Par should be the perfect relaxation spot with the dogs and her aunt for Poppy, but it’s not.

When a new vet comes to the practice her aunt has used for many years and won’t give her the same discounts the old vet had it causes problems. When you’re running a dog rescue you need breaks, and lot of breaks. No one can do it on their own.

I really loved Poppy’s aunts’ character, she has a heart of gold for animals and people alike. She tries to hide her financial problems from Poppy but a new pup, one abandoned at the pet rescue needs multiple surgeries and care.

When her sweet aunt has an accident Poppy finds out how bad they are financially and becomes angry with the vet blaming him for not compromising with vet care and discounts. We see Poppy having a bit of a difficult time getting over her ex-boyfriend and carrying baggage. The vet is also hiding a secret that he is ashamed to have known. Very few people know his background and why he can’t offer discounts for pet service even though his veterinarian office is now thriving.

Will Poppy and the vet come to an agreement with vet service?

I absolutely loved this book and the series. So many charming elements in here. The characters are realistic and likable. The plot is well throughout out and I could picture what was happening in the book as I read it.

This book is a warm hug wrapped around me as I read.

Blog Tour for Winter Wishes at Roseford Reloved by Fay Keenan

ABOUT THE BOOK

Winter Wishes at Roseford Reloved

When the ceiling of preloved clothing shop Roseford Reloved falls in at the height of Christmas season, owner Polly Parrott is in despair. She can see her fortunes draining away as quickly as the water is pouring through her roof. What makes it worse is that standing right underneath the deluge is Will Sutherland, sporting hero and new owner of Parson’s Grange, the new modern mansion in Roseford.

Polly and Will’s first meeting is about as far from a success as it can be, but over a festive season of Christmas markets, a Yuletide Ball and inconvenient snowfalls, can they forge a friendship or even more, despite their unpromising beginning? Or will the complications in both of their lives end their romance before it even begins?

Purchase Link – https://mybook.to/winterrelovedsocial

MY THOUGHTS

I have read the rest of the books in the Roseford series, and they are a pure delight. I am familiar with these characters and it’s like a homecoming to read about them in the additional books in the series.

A pure escapist read, perfect for getting lost in for the afternoon with your cat and cup of tea at your side. Hoping and praying won’t prevent the ceiling from collapsing at Roseford Reloved a used clothing boutique owned by Polly Parrott. With finances low she is afraid she’ll be sued when the ceiling falls on the head of Will Sutherland. He is new in town and the owner of a fabulous mansion in town. Beyond humiliated, she is more than surprised when the upcoming festive holiday season finds them together in a friendly manner. He has two daughters with his ex-wife, and they add to the family dynamics. One accepts her and one not so much, at first. It’s always hard to accept a parent moving on to another relationship. A heartwarming story, I enjoyed the beautiful setting and read the book all in one sitting. The story is so charming, I look forward to being back in Roseford again. I was given a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions expressed are my own.

Publication Day Post- Bookouture Blog Tour for The American Wife’s Secret by Chrystyna Lucyk-Berger

ABOUT THE BOOK

Kitty held her husband close to her chest, covering his beloved body with her own. She called for help, but none came. She stared down at the face she loved so well. “Edgar! Don’t go, my darling, not now. Not after all we’ve been through… please don’t leave me here alone…”
1944. Beautiful American Kitty Larsson knows better than most that fighting the Nazis comes at a price. She’s spent years working undercover as an agent for the British and knows that doing what is right could cost her everything…
When Kitty is captured during a mission and her true identity is revealed, she learns her beloved husband, Edgar, has gone missing. The Gestapo tell her they have him, and that his life is in her hands. If she doesn’t cooperate, he will die and her worst fears will be realized. If they are telling the truth, Kitty’s secrets might be enough to save the man she loves… But what if they are lying?
Fueled by her desire to do what is right, but also to save the man she loves, Kitty knows that she won’t be able to rest until she can escape and find Edgar. Because surely, somewhere out there, he is still alive…
As the war rages, Kitty tries to think of a plan. Surely this isn’t where it all ends? She needs to know whether Edgar is safe, and to hold him in her arms once again. But, to do that, will Kitty finally have to make the ultimate sacrifice?
An absolutely unputdownable, gripping and powerful story about love, courage and doing what is right in the midst of the darkness of World War 2. Perfect for fans of The Nightingale, My Name is Eva and All the Light We Cannot See.

MY THOUGHTS

This is a series that I’d recommend you read in order to as each story builds upon the last.
The author’s writing style is one I really enjoy.

When I am looking for a realistic and well researched historical fiction book, I can always count on this author to deliver.
The book is absolutely unputdownable to me. After reading and following Kitty and Edgar’s story I knew I had to keep reading each book in the series

. I was holding my breath as I read. You could feel the tension crackling in the air, will she be caught, will Edgar stay safe? Kitty has been a long-time spy, putting herself in life-threatening situations. She’s on a runaway train of events and there’s no brakes.

There’s a lot of action and suspense. She doesn’t trust the Nazi’s. When she is captured, she is told they will kill Edgar if she doesn’t spill what she knows. Is it true, is Edgar even alive?

I was rooting for Kitty and Edgar’s character’s the whole way through in this series. They put themselves in so much danger. Doing what is right isn’t easy all the time. I applaud Kitty for her courage during the darkest of times and her straightforward attitude.

Sometimes you have to face the dark to receive the light and she is a perfect example of this. Her powerful love and devotion kept her going.

The author’s writing style is so realistic that I could picture it as I read like a film running through my mind.

Mesmerizing, I eagerly look forward to more amazing books by the author. This brought all my emotions to the forefront.

Christmas at the Cabin Cover Reveal

Today I am excited to share with you the cover reveal for Christmas at the Cabin by Rebecca Boxall. The colors are outstanding and very pleasing to the eyes.

ABOUT THE BOOK

Christmas at the Cabin

A festive, coming-of-age tale about an Oxbridge candidate and a young homeless man who find themselves in the bittersweet predicament of falling in love with exactly the right person at exactly the wrong time.

Well-to-do Jed never imagined he’d end up homeless, but family circumstances have made it his only option. Local vicar, Ben, tries to help him but there’s an element of self-punishment to the homelessness that makes Jed continue to put up with his situation – until disaster leads him to re-consider the vicar’s offer of a place to stay.

Hattie is on the cusp of adulthood, frantically trying to persuade her mum that she doesn’t want to attend an elite university, preferring the idea of pursuing her love of art and textiles. When she meets Jed, she badly wants to understand his circumstances and why, when she has everything at her fingertips, he doesn’t.

Hattie’s mum, Christine, has had a hard life and is desperate for more for her only child. When she meets Ben, the vicar who’s trying to help Jed, she finds an unlikely ally, and the two heartbroken souls find themselves drawn to each other. Until they find their relationship suddenly tested to the limit.

One thing’s for certain: none of these characters is looking forward to Christmas. It’s the worst time of year for each of them, for different reasons. But perhaps this year, the festive season could defy all expectations.

Rebecca Boxall is the award-nominated author of five bestselling novels – Christmas at the Vicarage, Home for Winter, Christmas on the Coast, The Christmas Forest and Christmas by the Lighthouse. She is also the author of Christmas at the Farmhouse and her popular short story, A Winter’s Day.
