My Thoughts

4 novella length Christmas type historical romance clean fiction stories based in the 1880’s as women employees of Woolworth’s Department store in Scranton, PA find love.
Having grown up in Pennsylvania and still living here I was tickled to see a book revolving around Woolworth’s Department store five and dime that I vividly remember going to as a child. It wasn’t the Scranton location but one of Pittsburgh, PA areas.

Each of the four stories is by a different author and a delight to read. We follow the lives of the co-workers and how they meet their perspective mates. Uplifting Christmas time stories. I enjoyed seeing the bible verses in this clean read. This old fashioned style book has a magical feel to it and a wonderful Christmas vibe.

A Magical New York Christmas by Anita Hughes-Review

About The Book

“There’s plenty to love in this sparkling Christmas rom-com.”Publishers Weekly

A magical holiday love story set at the glamorous Plaza Hotel in New York City.

It’s Christmas week when 26-year-old Sabrina Post knocks on the door of the Vanderbilt suite at the Plaza Hotel in New York City, ready to accept the ghostwriting position for the memoir of Grayson Westcott—a famous art dealer.

A struggling journalist, Sabrina can’t believe her luck: a paycheck and six nights in her own suite at the Plaza. She feels like Eloise, the heroine from her favorite children’s books. To make the job even more exciting, Grayson recounts how he worked as a butler at the Plaza sixty years ago for none other than the author of the Eloise books, Kay Thompson.

What promises to be a perfect week is complicated when Sabrina meets Ian Wentworth, a handsome British visitor, at the hotel bar. When Ian assumes Sabrina is another wealthy guest at the hotel, she doesn’t correct him —a decision she doesn’t regret after learning that Ian is a member of the British aristocracy. But, things are not what they seem. The truth is: Ian is not a wealthy lord; he’s actually the personal secretary of Lord Spencer Braxton.

As the week unfolds, will Sabrina and Ian learn the truth about one another?

Filled with the magic that can only be found at the Plaza Hotel during the holidays, and revealing facts about the author of the Eloise books, Anita Hughes’s A Magical New York Christmas is both a holiday treat and a heartwarming story that reminds us that falling in love is the greatest miracle of all.

My Thoughts

New York City at Christmas time, the magical setting of the Plaza Hotel at its best and fanciest.
A six day stay at the Plaza Hotel, struggling journalist, Sabrina cannot believe her luck or her paycheck. She has accepted the ghostwriting position for the memoir of Grayson Westcott—a famous art dealer. She feels like the character Eloise in the children's book series who stayed at the Plaza Hotel.
She meets a very charming man who she believes is royalty after he wines and dines her, and they have so much fun together.
He also thinks she is a woman able to afford staying for and paying for her suite at the Plaza Hotel. Despite the misconceptions they have about each other they do have a wonderful time together but will the same be said when they find the truth out about each other?
Such holiday spirit and the setting had such a fine, fancy holiday vibe. You'll enjoy this one.

A QUILT FOR CHRISTMAS BY MELODY CARLSON-REVIEW

About The Book

Christmas should be celebrated with family. But for Vera Swanson, that’s not an option this year. Widowed and recently relocated, she is lonely in her condo-for-one–until little Fiona Albright knocks on her door needing help. With her mother seriously ill and her father out of town, Fiona enlists Vera’s help, and when she finds out her new neighbor is a quilter, she has a special request–a Christmas quilt for Mama.

Vera will have to get a ragtag group of women together in order to fulfill the request. Between free-spirited artist Tasha, chatty empty nester Beverly, retired therapist Eleanor, and herself, Vera has hopes that Christmas for the Albright family will be merry, after all–and she may find herself a new family of friends along the way.

Bestselling and award-winning author Melody Carlson invites you to cuddle up this holiday season with this cozy story of giving, forgiving, and a little bit of romance.

My Thoughts

It simply would not be Christmas time without reading the annual Melody Carlson Christmas novella. I always feel such a sense of peace and goodness wash over me after I am finished with it.
In this one there are a group of people, some broken, widowed, sad, lonely or have just lost their way a bit. These people who were once strangers come together as now friends for the betterment of each other and unselfishly help out and boost each other’s spirits. When you help others, it gives you a sense of accomplishment and that warm happy feeling.
This book is such a warm blessing and I recommend it to you.

#Bookouture Blog Tour for Christmas In The Little Irish Village by Michelle Vernal

Christmas in the Little Irish Village: A page-turning Christmas romance to fall in love with by Michelle Vernal

Welcome to the little Irish village where Christmas celebrations are in full swing! Twinkling lights, cosy fires and big mugs of hot chocolate are in abundance as Shannon Kelly returns home to the Shamrock Inn. Will this be the year she finds the man of her dreams or is she destined to be forever unlucky in love?

Thirty-four-year-old Shannon is heartbroken following an unexpected break up. Seasonal joy is the last thing on her mind, as she wonders if she’ll ever find the kind of long-lasting love she’s always dreamed of. Even the comforting distractions of her big Irish family can’t cheer her up. Then things get even worse when Shannon slips over on the ice and finds herself red-faced in the arms of a gorgeous American man…

Despite the embarrassing encounter, Shannon can’t help wondering who the handsome stranger is. She soon finds out when James Cabot takes a room at the Shamrock Inn. Their second meeting is equally disastrous when she gives James the tour – without realising her skirt is tucked into her knickers! Shannon isn’t sure how she’s going to survive living under the same roof when she has such a talent for making a complete eejit of herself, and resolves to avoid their new guest at all costs.

But when Shannon discovers James is in Ireland because he’s claiming to be the long-lost grandson of her elderly neighbour, Maeve Doolin, she is immediately suspicious. Shannon has known kind Maeve since she was a little girl and feels protective of her, so she’s determined to find out the truth. Even if it means spending more time with James…

The two of them end up getting closer than she’d bargained for when they take a tour of Emerald Bay and end up snowed in together. But just as James begins to make Shannon’s heart melt with his cheeky grin and awful carol singing, a shocking secret threatens to shatter the growing romance between them.

Can Shannon trust James? And will she get the happily-ever-after she’s been hoping for this Christmas?

This gorgeous festive romance is the perfect cosy read to snuggle up with this Christmas. Fans of Nicola May, Trisha Ashley and Debbie Macomber will love this wonderfully uplifting novel.

My Thoughts

You will get the full Irish experience while reading this one. Being that my ancestors came over on a boat from Galway I knew this one was the perfect read for me.
You’ll be immersed in the authenticity of the Irish humor, foods and settings.
An American guy,an Irish gal snowed in together with an elderly neighbor it looks like love may be a blooming in this charming rom-com. When secrets are revealed though it just may send that fledgling romance south . This book is just lovely, so entertaining. The humor is great and had me laughing out loud. Heart-warming and charming, so looking forward to the next in this series.

The Cosy Travelling Christmas Shop by Lilac Mills-Review

About The Book

While bringing joy to others, can these two Christmas helpers also find some for themselves?

Seren’s great aunt Nelly hates being in a care home, especially around Christmas when Seren learns that Nelly and the other residents can’t enjoy the simple pleasure of browsing for gifts in the shops. So what if Seren brings the shops to them?

Converting an ice cream van into a gift shop, Seren travels around Tinstone to help out the less mobile. On her journeys, she keeps bumping into a reluctant – and handsome – Father Christmas, who has been roped into helping out this festive season.

But running her own business comes with risks and surprises that Seren’s not sure she’s able to tackle. Has she bitten off more than she can chew, or will her travelling Christmas shop provide some much-needed festive cheer for the residents of Tinstone?

A delightfully heartwarming and funny festive romance for fans of Rebecca Raisin and Sue Moorcroft.

My Review

It’s so much fun getting into Christmas books for this year already.
Christmas books are fun and uplifting, well if they are by Lilac Mills they are.
Seren’s great Aunt Nelly hates being in a care home, especially because of her limited mobility.
The one time Seren and her father took aunt Nelly out shopping with her wheelchair it made for a very long and tiring day for all.
While Seren is pondering Nelly’s suggestion of she wants the shopping to come to her there’s the brilliant idea of converting an ice cream truck to a portable Christmas shopping van.
It’s not all smooth sailing but when it’s done lots of people are so impressed with the Cosy Travelling Christmas Shop. Throw in the warm, fuzzy holiday season,a little snow and gift wrapped gifts and a fun and unexpected holiday romance. It wouldn’t be the holidays without the latest Christmas read by Lilac Mills which I recommend to you!

About The Author

Lilac Mills lives on a Welsh mountain with her very patient husband and incredibly sweet dog, where she grows veggies (if the slugs don’t get them), bakes (badly) and loves making things out of glitter and glue (a mess, usually). She’s been an avid reader ever since she got her hands on a copy of Noddy Goes to Toytown when she was five, and she once tried to read everything in her local library starting with A and working her way through the alphabet.

She loves long, hot summer days and cold winter ones snuggled in front of the fire, but whatever the weather she’s usually writing or thinking about writing, with heartwarming romance and happy-ever-afters always on her mind..
