MY THOUGHTS
I really, really enjoyed this book. Aside from the story which really kept my attention I very much enjoyed that it takes place in Pennsylvania, my home state and where I still live. How fun to see a story including birding circle letter writing. I have a bird app I use almost daily, and it identifies bird calls it hears. It’s so much fun to see new ones on it with the bird migration. I also have the bird book the author recommended that she used for her research. A long ago misunderstanding stopped a couple from courting but when they are brought together again can that be put aside so they can at least be nice to each other. An Amish man and woman get to know each other through their interests in birding, a common interest amongst the Amish. They write letters to each other and the interest becomes more than about just birds but could a secret they’ve each been keeping from each other be detrimental to their relationship? Very much enjoyed all of the characters and their personalities and how caring and forgiving they are to each other. The characters are compassionate and helpful towards each other. I also enjoyed the author talking about planting certain things and helping to create a habitat for the birds. The ending was wonderful and there was a surprise with one of the main characters I enjoyed too. I eagerly look forward to the next book in the series.

MY THOUGHTS
The Amish Ballerina sounded like a very unique and interesting story. I know Englisher interests such as ballet dancing is forbidden to the Amish so I was interested in seeing how this would be pulled off. Arie has been interested in ballet for years as her Englisher friend Lorina has been a ballet dancer for years and is teaching her. This is a huge secret she is not only keeping from her family but her boyfriend as well. The writing style is different that Wanda’s. I’ve read all of Wanda’s over the years and have loved them all. This is not her writing. It’s slow, stilted and very formal sounding. There is not a warmth in these Amish families, they almost act as casual acquaintances towards each other, but a closeness and homey feeling is not to be found. There are unreasonable expectations put on Arie by her mother, she is at times talked to as a young child, but the mother’s responsibilities are unreasonably put on her. There were a lot of secrets and dishonestly in the book. Some understanding did come through. She has a big decision to make; will her heart lead her to give up her worldly ways or will Arie be drawn to the Englisher world and all it has to offer? This book was not a favorite of mine, but I have enjoyed all of her other books.

I love the cover, very intriguing for a mystery book. This is an Amish mystery which I was drawn to because I live amongst the Amish here in Pennsylvania.
The book starts off with a bang, as we get right to the mystery. Fast paced this was hard to put down. A tragedy strikes an Amish family and a former Amish man who is now a policeman/detective comes back home. While there he seems a former girlfriend who the tragedy happened to her family.
As he tries to fight romantic memories and those renewing feelings she begs him to help investigate the case because the local police aren’t taking it seriously.
I enjoyed the book but there are some unrealistic things here the Amish would not get involved in and also some repetitive thoughts throughout the book but it did not take away my enjoyment of the book.
Fast paced and I had a hard time putting it down. Looking forward to reading more by the author soon.

This is the second book in the Mifflin County mystery series. I’ve been reading Wanda’s books as long as she’s been writing them. I love how realistic they are.
This book picks up perfectly where the first book in the series ends. We have the same characters as the last book, but it focuses more on a different family this time.
There is really a lot going on in this fast-paced book. Really things changed so quickly with the characters at times it was hard to keep up. I experienced so many emotions while reading this and we really do see the Amish experience the same emotions we do including self-doubt at times.
Full of examples of faithful living and praying in this clean read that I really enjoyed. I had trouble putting this one down and greatly look forward to the conclusion of the series in the next book.

I really enjoyed reading this, the first book of three in the Mifflin County mystery series. The Petersheim family is devastated, their daughter, Rosa has disappeared on her way home from a young people’s event.
Her oldest brother feels responsible and it’s affecting her whole family, even leading to her mother’s failing health. They all just want to see her walk through the family home’s door again.
The Amish community can’t understand what has happened to this young Amish woman and the police don’t really seem to be taking much an interest in solving this case.
Feeling guilty. older brother Norman Petersheim spends so much time trying to solve the case that his girlfriend doesn’t feel appreciated. Will this young love have a chance or will his unwillingness to understand her needs drive them apart completely.
Love the realistic situations of the characters and their character development.

A faith based and fun story. I love Wanda’s books and I’ll be interested in reading more books by the other author as well. An important lesson is learned in this gentle and entertaining story.

MY THOUGHTS
Matters of the Heart is such an emotional read and her best to date in my opinion. Continuing on in the series we have Declan Miller who comes from an auctioneer family. To hide his insecurity, he is quite the jokester. Now that he’s in his twenties he still finds Bethel King the prettiest girl around but feels out of her league. She’s a carer for her younger siblings, has a serious personality and works at a local plant nursery. Bethal King comes from a family that carries the gene for LMGD, she is afraid of passing this on to her own children and doesn’t think she should marry to avoid this possibility. Each family has their own challenges, but I loved seeing the support of family and friends keeping them on an even keel when things got rough. The author truly writes from the heart here not avoiding series topics and how the Amish deal with them through their faith in God. A compelling read that had me staying up late to finish it.

Best-selling novelist Kelly Irvin’s latest Amish romance, Every Good Gift, debuted in February 2023. The third novel in the Amish Blessings series takes place in Yoder and Haven, Kansas. The series takes a look at adoption in Amish communities. The first book, Love’s Dwelling, won second place in the Selah Awards contest in the long contemporary romance category. The series follows the Amish of Sky Country series, which featured Amish communities in Northwest Montana affected by wildfires that destroyed thousands of acres in the state in recent years. he Heart’s Bidding is the start of a beautiful and emotional Amish book series by Kelly Irvin. This is a very special book, and I enjoyed it a lot.
Auctioneer Toby Miller thinks he has his priorities straight. This bachelor spends months at a time on the road doing his auctioneering thing but that’s okay. as a single man he has no one to answer to. When his grandfather who has run the office side of the business steps down and his father isn’t suited for this type of work things start to change.
Rethinking all the traveling as a lovely young woman catches his interest and the other side of business needs running may have put him in a new frame of mind. Letting go and letting God be in charge is not an easy thing for Toby to just do though when he’s used to having all this freedom.
Rachelle Lapp is a schoolteacher for the Amish children with developmental disabilities. When it’s decided, the children will go to an Englisher school with more resources available to them her job becomes redundant.
She knows the needs of the children having a special needs brother and Toby has a special needs sister. The Amish believe these children are special and a blessing from God and I agree.
The two are drawn together with many similarities and understandings. I loved seeing the support of family and friends in the tough situations. God’s plan will lead this couple on the right path in love and in life.

Best-selling novelist Kelly Irvin’s latest Amish romance, Every Good Gift, debuted in February 2023. The third novel in the Amish Blessings series takes place in Yoder and Haven, Kansas. The series takes a look at adoption in Amish communities. The first book, Love’s Dwelling, won second place in the Selah Awards contest in the long contemporary romance category. The series follows the Amish of Sky Country series, which featured Amish communities in Northwest Montana affected by wildfires that destroyed thousands of acres in the state in recent years. I enjoy Amish books and to have the theme of Christmas was such a fun added bonus.
This book has four romance novellas centered around faith and Christmas. Four well known Amish writing authors entertained me with light easy reading filled with Lancaster County, Pennsylvania couples.
These couples are courting, or it may be a second chance romance. Fun writing styles kept me reading. Sweet romance this book would make a fine gift for a friend.

MY THOUGHTS
By Evening’s Light is the third and final book in the Amish Memories series. I enjoyed all three books in the series and fully recommend you read this series in order to get the full backstory with all the characters. This is told as a dual timeline story.
Though taking place in an Amish community and incorporating the Amish culture into the book it is not strictly an Amish story. A character comes back from a missionary trip to Haiti not having expected things to work out the way they had.
We are transported back in time with a storytelling Aunt who tells of her struggles and joys during WWII in Germany. I enjoyed how well the series was researched by the author, making for a fascinating and entertaining series.
The characters are well developed and perfectly imperfect with their own struggles and joys. I enjoyed reading their faith journeys.
