Good Sunday morning ☀️

Today will be a day of rest as much as possible. We’ve been going out day after day doing things and as much as I enjoy going out the body needs a day to rest and recharge. I also haven’t gotten much reading done and no reviews because I’m still on the same book after 3 days, very unusual for me. We are at 78 going up to a high of 88 today. I sure hope it actually feels cooler but we shall see. Our humidity is at 80 % and drops as the day gets warmer. It’s either high humidity or high temperatures so you can’t win. Time to get some laundry done today and catch up on some household chores.

Have a great day and I hope you’re able to get some rest today as well.

Daily Prompt 23 June Sunday ☀️

How do you practice self-care?

Self care is important and the older I get the more I realize it. When you’re raising children your needs are still there but you put these aside in favor of them and what they need . Now that some of my kids are out of the house and the others that are left at home don’t need me to constantly watch them or even cook them meals which I do most of the time anyways because I enjoy it I can have more time for self care. I start out my day by going out walking first thing in the morning or else doing a workout dvd if it’s cold or rainy out. I also do intermittent fasting and eat my meals between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. it has helped me to lose weight and it’s better for me as well. Eating too close to bedtime is hard on your system and it’s not easy to digest food when you’re laying down to sleep. I haven’t eaten meat in over 5 years and feel better for it. It gives me more energy and we all need more of that. I do eat healthier foods and really enjoy fruits and vegetables. Some people think if you eat healthy foods you’re weird and extreme and don’t eat anything but healthy food. I can only speak for myself but I do eat and enjoy healthy foods but don’t count me out yet because if I go out with you I’ll be happy to have some pizza as long as it’s cheese pizza and I’ll enjoy some ice cream right along with you too. Getting enough sleep is essential for your mind and body to function properly and for keeping the weight off. At bed time I do my routine skin care products and enjoy using Korean skin care products. They are good. I sent for a red light therapy skin care face mask but haven’t used it yet.

Daily Prompt 22 June Saturday

How do you waste the most time every day?

Is it really a little waste of time.if it’s something you enjoy. I spend a lot of time with my family, which is strengthening relationships. I don’t consider that a waste of time. I also spend a lot of time reading, never a waste of time. My time I spend with my pets, that benefits both of us. How about people that have hobbies, do crafts, spend long hours just trying to support a family. Is that a waste of time? No.

Good Saturday morning

Good morning friends. We are in for another scorcher today in Pennsylvania. We are at 69 rising to a high of 97, the south doesn’t have anything on us. 😂🥵🔥Off to a few more yard sales today and I’ll be stopping to get some iced coffee on the way. Later we may do some grocery 🛒 shopping. I have a book I started yesterday but didn’t get much of it read because when I came home after being out in the heat for hours I fell asleep. This heat wears me out. We ate Chinese food yesterday, I had vegetable lo mein and vegetable fried rice . It was tasty but I didn’t have much of an appetite. Today sounds like a great day for ice cream 🍦. Have a great day and stay hydrated.⛲💦 Yeah and jump in a fountain if you need to. 🤣🥵

Daily Prompt 21 June Friday

Which food, when you eat it, instantly transports you to childhood?

How is it only Friday , this week is really dragging because of the heat.

A food that takes me back to my childhood is one my mom used to make. She’d fry sliced potatoes, eggs and cheese in a skillet. This was of course when I didn’t think anything of eating fried foods and man was it delicious 😋🥔🍳🧀.

Christmas on the Riviera: Escape to the French Riviera for a delightfully festive read from Jennifer Bohnet

212 pages Boldwood Books August 31, 2022 publication date

ABOUT THE BOOK

As a toddler Elodie Jacques was abandoned by her mother and left in the care of her French grandmother, Gabriella in Dartmouth, Devon.

Now 24 years old, Elodie struggles to reconcile the deep anger for the mother she has never since seen.

When Gabriella unexpectedly announces she wants the two of them to spend Christmas and her 70th birthday in her home town of Juan-les-Pins in the South of France Elodie is thrilled.

Gabriella meanwhile has her own ulterior motives for wanting to return after 40 years, a daunting homecoming potentially filled with memories, secrets and recriminations.

With Juan-les-Pins pulsing with lights, decorations and the festive spirit, Christmas promises to be filled with fun. But when Elodie learns there is the possibility that her long absent mother may join them she hides her feelings behind a show of indifference and animosity.

Will there be the reconciliation that Gabriella longs for – or will the spirit of Christmas fail to work its wonder?

MY THOUGHTS

I enjoyed the idyllic setting of Juan-les-Pins in the South of France. It sounded very charming and like an enjoyable vacation spot.
When Elodie Jacques is three years old she is abandoned by her mother when she gets a new man, and he doesn’t want a child from the mother’s previous relationship around.

Having been raised by her grandmother ever since she’s been happy.
Grandmother announces she wants to spend New Years and her 79th birthday in her hometown of Juan-les-Pins. Unknown to Elodie grandmother has some secrets she has been keeping from her and she needs to travel to France to take care of somethings and come to grip with her feelings.

The book has a mention of Christmas here and there, but you don’t get a Christmassy feel to it.
While there are some heartwarming moments and a sweet new romance there were some things I didn’t agree with in the book that brought the stars level down for me. Quick easy read.

I was given a complimentary copy of this book.
All opinions expressed are my own.

Daily Prompt 19 June Wednesday

Write about your first crush.

Which one? I had so many when I was younger.

I could tell you about the blond haired boy that came to visit his grandparents for the summer while I visited my grandparents for the summer and that these grandparents lived lived next door to each other. Both sets of grandparents lived in cottages and there was a creek behind it. Summer after summer I’d  look forward to seeing this boy and we’d play together and swim together.  We were just children and I can’t even remember his name.
