ABOUT THE BOOK
There’s a lot going on in Joy Howard’s life. She’s got an ex-husband who starts acting like he doesn’t want to be an ex anymore, a sixteen-year-old daughter in need of a guiding hand and a lot of rides to dance practice, more orders for paintings than she has time to paint, and a roster of tutoring clients who sometimes need far more than she can give.
What she doesn’t have is time for a new relationship.
Samuel “Bo” Beauman is a lot of things. He’s a counselor for transitioning ex-cons, a good friend to many, a construction worker, a brother and son, and even a part-time model for a high-end sportswear catalog. He’s also a man searching for redemption.
One thing he isn’t is a man in need of a girlfriend.
But none of that seems to matter when Bo hears Joy’s kind voice in a crowded coffee shop. He instantly knows she’s someone he wants to know better. The two of them hit it off—much to the dismay of practically everyone they know—but Bo doesn’t care what other people think. He feels at peace whenever he’s with Joy, and he won’t let her go without a fight.
When Joy starts getting mysterious texts and phone calls from unknown numbers, she tries to ignore it. But instead of going away, the messages escalate and Joy realizes she can’t handle it alone. But she is juggling a jealous ex-husband, a handful of students with little to lose, and a brand-new boyfriend who spent several years behind bars. Who can she trust?

MY THOUGHTS
Sycamore Circle is the second book in the Rumors in Ross County series. Shelley Shepard Gary is an author who is talented in writing multiple genres.
I enjoyed reading Bo and Joy’s story. They both do community service.
She’s helping people better themselves as she’s serving as a literacy teacher. Bo is a counselor for transitioning ex-cons. He’s big, brawny has tattoos and is an ex-con she’s soft, sweet and kind to everyone.
You wouldn’t think there would be that connection there but there is. Both are learning to trust again and recovering from things in their past. Joy has an ex-husband, a daughter and a secret she’s been keeping from Bo.
Someone is stalking her and sending harassing messages to her. The story moves at a steady pace and escalates as we approach the end. This is not one of the author’s Amish books but there are Amish characters and the culture added to the book which I enjoyed.
A light faith message, we see no one can do it all but through him all things are possible. Positive and uplifting. I look forward to many more books by this author.

Wonderful review Deanne. I’m excited to get to this series. I’m going to see if my library has them as I’m planning a trip there tomorrow!🤦♀️🤷📚💜
Thanks Susan. I’m going Monday. Enjoy all those wonderful books you’re going to check out. I hope you’ll find the series. I thought it was good but not as good as her Amish books.
Another great review, Deanne! This looks like another series I would enjoy.
Thanks! 😉 Still zipping through them at this point. I think you would too though I didn’t enjoy it as much as her Amish books. I would read another book in the series if she published it though.
I see what you mean. I do enjoy the Amish books. 🙂
Sounds good! If only I had more time to read!
Once I’m back on my feet properly again I won’t be able to read as much. I consider reading a true gift.
What happened to you???
January 6th, our first snow of the season I went into the backyard to go to the garage to get a shovel . By this time it had started to rain and I slipped on a slippery surface and went down on my right ankle. Was in incredible pain, went to the ER the next day because I was in too much pain that day . They did an X-ray, said it wasn’t fractured and to follow up with my family Dr which I did and they sent me to an orthopedic doctor who sent me to physical therapy. At the orthopedic doctor they took a weight bearing x-ray and said a fracture may not show up til 2 weeks after injury. Luckily there wasn’t one but they said I have a grade 2 sprain with torn ligaments. I’m able to put some weight on it now to walk but some days are worse than others. Physical therapy is helping but leaves me sore the day after. I can be on my feet about an hour before it becomes too much. It’s easier to go up stairs than down and walking on gravel and rocks is murder on my ankle. I just want to be able to walk properly like before. We take it for granted.
I’m so sorry to hear that. I did the same to my ankle when I was in college and had to trump around on crutches to my classes and two miles to church on Sunday. It took a good while to heal. Take the time to rest your ankle. If you want exercise you can ride stationary bike with one foot!
It’s been 4 weeks now and I’m going to stay off my feet for the most part today. It’s hard though once you can put weight on it you want to be on the go. Sounds like you had a time of it when you hurt your ankle. Glad it healed well for you though. My physical therapist has put me on the stationary bike, and it felt pretty good using it.
That’s perfect. It will keep you toned up!
I read the first in this series and liked it. It takes a versatile author to switch from Amish to mystery and back again.
It really does. I think she’s done a good job with it. I also read a Love Inspired Suspense she wrote and enjoyed it.
