They lost each other once before; now the clouds of war may give them a second chance.
As teenagers, Delia Byrne and Finn Delaney fell in love while flying kites and dreaming of a future together–until betrayal tore them apart. Now, as America enters World War I, Delia works for peace as a paralegal and pacifist. Her values forbid her from supporting the war effort, but she volunteers for a relief organization trying to save millions of lives in famine-stricken Belgium.
Returning to America as a decorated war hero, Finn is eager to get back to the front but is assigned to use his fame to raise funds instead. To his surprise, this mission will bring him face-to-face with Delia, the only woman he ever loved and once hoped to marry. As their shared mission draws them together, old sparks of romance begin to stir–until duty sends them behind enemy lines in occupied Belgium. Will the greatest danger be the conflict raging around them–or the possibility of falling in love again?
MY THOUGHTS
From the first book I’ve read by the author through all the rest of her books I’ve noticed how impeccably researched they are. Every single one, every single time and I love it. I love when historical fiction is so well detailed and heavy handed on facts. I love facts but the books are not dry or slow. You learn from them but enjoy the characters and situations. The author’s magical pen makes these stories come alive and I can completely picture what I was reading as though I were there in the time period experiencing it. During the war things were terrible but it was not all bad. So many behind the scenes helped out in even a small way that we’ll never know about. It’s just between them, the person/people they helped and God. Strong themes of selflessness, compassion and forgiveness. A second chance at love and realizing what you first thought you wanted may not be oh so important after all, but God has a plan for you, and it will be revealed in his time. Excellent and highly recommended!

Elizabeth Camden is best known for her historical novels set in gilded age America featuring clever heroines and richly layered storylines. Before she was a writer, she was an academic librarian at some of the largest and smallest libraries in America, but her favorite is the continually growing library in her own home. Her novels have won the RITA and Christy Award, and she lives in Florida with her husband who graciously tolerates her intimidating stockpile of books.
Festive excitement is in the air, the tree is sparkling on the village green and Christmas music is making even the most hardened cynic feel a little sentimental – but one Little Duck Pond Café favourite is feeling anything but romantic! Is this destined to be a festive season best forgotten? Or could Katja’s dream of a merry little Christmas possibly end up coming true?
I’m loving seeing this series continue, we’re on book 43 now. At this point the characters all feel like family, and I love meeting the new ones we’re introduced to in each book too. Festive, warm, wonderful Christmas story. Katja, unusual name and I love it and her newish boyfriend, Caleb are spending their first Christmas together. I loved Katja’s character and related to her right away. Couldn’t quite figure out what Caleb’s deal was at first. Katja tried so hard, she really did, but things just seemed off to her after a bit, not what she wanted at all especially during the holiday season. The author throws a bit of mystery into the story, and I absolutely loved how it evolved, it really had me fooled. Things aren’t always how they seem to be and this story proved it. The more I read it the more I loved it. Eagerly looking forward to the next book by the author.

Being around his family starts to feel all too real. But how can Naomi choose between the dream she’s always wanted…and the promise of love?
From Love Inspired: Uplifting stories of faith, forgiveness and hope.
MY THOUGHTS
The Amish Nanny’s Secret is delightful, the author has woven secrets, love and healing through every page. Naomi Ebersol has kept a secret from not only her Amish community, but her family and she’s been working on making it come true for several years. Now she just needs a way to make the money to have it come true as the last step. Widower Josias Schrock may be just the help she’s been praying for as she decides to become a nanny to his five sons and that should help finance her dream. I had a large family myself and could so relate to the absolute chaos at times you have with children specially a lot of small ones close in age. He’s lost his wife and baby and just wants a nanny for his boys; she’s looking to earn money for the summer. There’s no telling where the heart will lead though. A beautiful story brought to life by the author’s charming words, I absolutely loved it. Through prayer and reflection healing happens with decisions made. Looking forward to more by the author.

And why was he so determined to buy the cottages? Lexi is on a mission to find out…
MY THOUGHTS
So charming, what is not to love when you live in a brilliant cottage on the boardwalk overlooking the breathtaking sea. Going out your front door, the sea spray cools you and the view is amongst the best you’ve ever seen. Lexi Davies seems to be living the charmed life, living on the boardwalk in a cottage and renting out the other two is the perfect supplemental income for her. It’s also the last link to her mother she has left as they were owned by her mother and passed onto to her. When she finds out her father has sold them out from under her, she is more than devastated. Sold to a Scotsman, Oliver has his reasons for buying them and it’s actually a pretty good one. Would it be weird to start to have romantic feelings for him? Would he think it was weird? Would she lose her friendship that is newly started? Ugh, so much to think about, should she try to take that first step? When something unexpected happens in her family will she embrace the changes, or will it be a hinderance to all she has accomplished so far? A heartwarming rom com about the choices you make not only affecting yourself but those closest to you. Warmth, family, choices, personal growth and friendships all blossom in the gorgeous book.

MY THOUGHTS
This is another book in the Seabreeze Farm series and the whole series is so charming. You really get drawn into Kelsea Bay and the characters are so realistic . A total misunderstanding stops a wedding days before it’s to happen. When shocking secrets are revealed our main character feels like she no longer knows herself or the man she called dad. Dealing with such news will not be easy but Seabreeze Farm is the perfect place to get away from it all and forget. ABOUT THE BOOK
Leslie Gould delights in this sweet and humorous Amish romance reminiscent of The Shop Around the Corner and You’ve Got Mail.
Lois Yoder has always found solace in the quiet life of Paradise, Pennsylvania, where she manages a gift shop that reflects her Amish community’s simple values. Her tranquil world is upended when Moses Lantz, a former Amishman turned Mennonite and the man who broke her heart, buys the shop with ambitious plans to transform it into a tourist hub–a move that Lois fiercely opposes.
Seeking a distraction, Lois joins a bird watchers’ circle letter under an alias. But unknown to her, Moses does the same at the urging of a friend. While their correspondence blossoms into a tender romance, the enmity between Lois and Moses in real life only intensifies. Can they overcome their animosity and embrace the love they’ve found through their letters, or will their stubborn hearts keep them apart forever?
MY THOUGHTS
I really, really enjoyed this book. Aside from the story which really kept my attention I very much enjoyed that it takes place in Pennsylvania, my home state and where I still live. How fun to see a story including birding circle letter writing. I have a bird app I use almost daily, and it identifies bird calls it hears. It’s so much fun to see new ones on it with the bird migration. I also have the bird book the author recommended that she used for her research. A long ago misunderstanding stopped a couple from courting but when they are brought together again can that be put aside so they can at least be nice to each other. An Amish man and woman get to know each other through their interests in birding, a common interest amongst the Amish. They write letters to each other and the interest becomes more than about just birds but could a secret they’ve each been keeping from each other be detrimental to their relationship? Very much enjoyed all of the characters and their personalities and how caring and forgiving they are to each other. The characters are compassionate and helpful towards each other. I also enjoyed the author talking about planting certain things and helping to create a habitat for the birds. The ending was wonderful and there was a surprise with one of the main characters I enjoyed too. I eagerly look forward to the next book in the series.

ABOUT THE BOOK
Thanksgiving season brings murder most fowl to Bar Harbor, Maine, as food writer and restaurateur Hayley Powell investigates a farmer felled at a turkey shoot . . .
The relationships between bad-tempered Tom Farley and his neighbors are as bitter as a bowl of raw cranberries, but would one of them have taken it far enough to replace birdshot with a real bullet and make him a target at a shooting competition? That’s what the injured turkey farmer is claiming from his hospital bed—in between terrorizing the nurses—and he insists it’s because a property developer is looking to buy them all out for big money. But Tom says he was born on that land, and he intends to die on it. Sadly, that happens sooner than he expects.
Now an inquisitive Hayley has a cornucopia of suspects to consider, from an agoraphobic therapist to an ex-Army sniper, while also preparing for Thanksgiving. But with the strange twists and dark secrets still to be revealed, this case will not be as easy as pie . . .
MY THOUGHTS
Death of a Tom Turkey is the perfect seasonal book for Thanksgiving reading though unfortunately I didn’t get a chance to finish it on Thanksgiving but the day afterwards. A very ornery turkey farmer is almost finished off at the annual turkey shoot. In the hospital his miserable ways continue as he gives the nurses all grief. The second attempt does do him in. So many suspects as he’s the miserable farmer having made many enemies over the years. Just when it looks like we have the suspect down pat we see more evidence against someone else. As more secrets see the light of day the suspect list just grows longer. Lots of red herrings thrown into the twisted plot and I never could have seen the outcome presented. Lots of holiday food and drink recipes to try. A delightful holiday cozy mystery that has me looking out for the next one.

MEET THE AUTHORS
Rick Copp was two years out of New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts when he was tapped at 24 years old to become a staff writer on the enormously popular NBC sitcom The Golden Girls in 1988. It was a once in a lifetime opportunity, especially for a boy from Bar Harbor, Maine, who grew up dreaming of living underneath the famous Hollywood sign, a dream that became a reality soon after his arrival in Los Angeles.
He spent the next five years writing for a number of series including the critically acclaimed and commercially successsful hits NBC’s Wings, FOX’s Flying Blind and HBO’s Dream On.
In 1995, he teamed up with screenwriter Laurice Elehwany, who wrote the popular MaCauley Culkin comedy drama My Girl and together they co-wrote the big screen TV remake The Brady Bunch Movie, which was a major box office hit for Paramount Pictures. This led to many more feature writing assignments for Universal, Warner Brothers, Imagine Entertainment, The Jim Henson Company among others as well as uncredited rewrites on Howard Stern’s Private Parts and The Flintstones: Viva Rock Vegas.
But Rick has also stayed very busy in television co-creating and executive producing a campy, fun TV revival of the ‘80s David Hasselhoff hit Team Knight Rider where he also played the recurring role of Clayton the Chef. He’s written for a wide variety of series including Secret Agent Man, Barbershop, executive produced by Ice Cube, and Jack of All Trades starring Bruce Campbell. He’s created and written many television pilots for most of the major networks including ABC, CBS, MTV, Lifetime, USA, Nickoleon and Logo including two produced one hour prime time mystery pilots Homewood P.I. for CBS starring Tony Danza and Soccer Moms for ABC starring Kristin Davis. Recently he’s written five episodes of the late night Cinemax anthology crime series Femme Fatales under the pen name Richard Hollis, which also provided him the opportunity to return to acting playing a befuddled professor in three episodes. Acting is a hobby Rick still loves to indulge.
Rick has always kept a strong presence in children’s television programming as well, which began with him co-writing the popular animated feature Scooby Doo and the Witch’s Ghost. Its success led to him writing multiple episodes of the Cartoon Network smash hit Teen Titans as well as story editing the first season of Warner Brothers’ Loonatics Unleashed. His passion in life is traveling so it was a special treat for him to work abroad on another successful animated series called Chi Rho -The Secret produced by Cross Media and broadcast by KiKa in Germany.
In 2001, Rick decided to fulfill another goal and write a mystery novel. He had been playing around with a character named Jarrod Jarvis, a former child star on a hit ‘80s sitcom called Go to Your Room! who had his very own catch phrase, “Baby, don’t even go there!” Jarrod’s unbridled curiosity led him to investigate a series of sordid Hollywood murder mysteries in between acting audtions. The first book The Actor’s Guide to Murder (Kensington, Nov 2003) was very well received and was followed by two sequels The Actor’s Guide to Adultery (Kensington, Nov 2004) and The Actor’s Guide to Greed (Kensington, Nov 2005), which was nominated for a LAMBDA Literary Award for Best Mystery. He wrote a stand alone book called Fingerprints & Facelifts (Kensington, July 2007), an homage to his favorite TV series as a child, Charlie’s Angels. A crack team of female private investigators known as the LA Dolls, who had a very successful detective business in the late ‘80s were long retired and living separate lives, but were forced to reunite when someone from their past began targeting their children. Lifetime Television optioned the book for a TV movie and hired Rick to adapt his own novel as a teleplay.
Another childhood obsession of Rick’s was collecting comic books and he was able to realize yet another dream by writing a graphic novel Celebrity Zombie Killers (Ape Entertainment, March 2010), best described as “a twisted, hilarious mash-up of MTV’s The Hills meets 28 Days Later.”
In 2010, when Rick’s sister won an award for her cooking column in their hometown’s local paper, he saw an opportunity. He writes mysteries. She writes recipes. Combine the two for a new book series. And the Hayley Powell Food & Cocktails Mystery series was born. The brother and sister writing team are collaborating on three books under the pen name Lee Hollis, Death of a Kitchen Diva (Kensington, March 2012), Death of a Country Fried Redneck (Kensington, November 2012) and Death of a Coupon Clipper (Kensington, 2013).

The Bible study group knows that even the wicked deserve justice, so they continue to investigate, this time to catch a killer. There’s a full roster of service staff heading up their list of suspects, along with the elderly home owner herself. Then Cooper learns that the feds have taken an interest in the case, and suddenly she and her friends begin to worry they’re in real danger. Because nothing about this case is what it seems, and while charity may begin at home, this home is full of secrets that may cost Cooper her life . . .
Includes heavenly recipes from Magnolia Lee’s kitchen!
MY THOUGHTS
The ninth book in the Hope Street Church mystery series. This is a Christian fiction series. A shady and unscrupulous real estate agent tries to take advantage of an elderly woman and get her wealthy home on the market. Grammy Lee knows just what to do as she gets her bible study group involved before any crime is committed. Someone really has it in for the real estate agent though when his body turns up the investigation takes a heated upturn. With a miles long suspect list there’s quite the involvement of sleuthing. Well done mystery nicely plotted. This is my first book in the series, and I’ll be on the lookout for more to keep me reading like this one did.
