My Thoughts
I am really enjoying the Colorado Cowgirl series Jody Hedlund has written. This is the second in the series but can easily be read as a standalone. Charity Courtney is the eldest Courtney sister. She takes on the responsibility of her two younger sisters. They’ve inherited a home from their uncle, but money is owed on it, and they are in financial straits while desperately trying to pay it off.
I loved the meeting of grumpy and sunshine. What a powerful connection they have. Charity is a sweet young miss, rather naive just trying to pay off the home loan and taking care of her sisters.
Hudson Vanderwater is a wealthy railroad magnet, buttoned up, straightlaced he hears of Charity’s plight and wants to help her. How they meet is hilarious, he is being chased by an animal and she saves him. He is used to having women fall all over him trying to impress him, she doesn’t and treats him like any other guy, not like anyone important and he’s intrigued.
How can Hudson help her pay off her debt and keep Charity and her sisters in their home? Will Charity have to accept a marriage of convenience with a local banker who has been hounding her for marriage. When a scandal is almost caused will Charity be able to recover her dignity and upstanding name? Clean sweet, western romance and I loved it. Greatly looking forward to more in this series.

My Thoughts
I just love when there are characters that cross over from one series to another. Astrid Nillson was in a Cowboy for Keeps as a child. Younger sister to Greta Nilsson. Astrid is grown now but when she was a child, she was brought west by her sister hoping to help her heal from consumption. Astrid is now a certified medical doctor, not a usual occupation for a woman in 1877.
Returning home to Fairplay, Colorado she can only think about one thing. She must become a doctor in the practice in town advertising for one. She doesn’t know who the practicing doctor is there, but she’s still determined to join the practice. When she finds the doctor is her old love interest, she almost leaves on the double, but she won’t him give the satisfaction of doing so.
I really enjoyed the dynamics between Logan Steele and Astrid. Logan comes home because of his mother’s health. She is down to her last few weeks and he’s trying to make her as comfortable as possible. She won’t be happy until he’s settled and is courting someone.
When he makes a proposition to Astrid, I wasn’t sure if she would agree or not. The book was full of such humor and witty banner between the two. I also really enjoyed the mother’s character. She really does want the best for her son.
We see the narrowmindedness of some of the town’s folks towards a woman doctor. When time is of the essence can she prove her worth and have acceptance?
I just loved this book. it has all that I would expect in a book from this author, a fast-paced keep you reading plot, exciting and diverse characters, strong women thinking outside the box, a clean romance and she has the ability to make me say, “woohoo, I can’t wait to read the next book in this series!”

My Thoughts
I am not a reader of time travel book but for Jody Hedlund’s books I am. The Waters in Time books are just incredible, and she has proven her books are equally well written in whatever genre she writes in.
Though this book can be read as a standalone I do suggest you read the books in order. This series has captivated me from the start, and I have loved all in this series. I found it fascinating to be transported back in time to the Medieval times and read the differences yet similarities in the time periods.
I enjoyed reading Dawson’s story and seeing the positive change in his personality. The story has a nice Christian addition without it being too much. The book has a fabulous outcome that I enjoyed and is positive. I’m looking forward to more well researched books in this series.

This is one author that I absolutely cannot pass up her books. She has such talent that she writes in several genres as well. Each equally good. This is the last book in the Colorado Cowboys series, and I have loved each book in this series. Please, don’t ask me to pick a favorite in this series because I simply couldn’t do it. Each story is different than the others but yet has some of the same threads running through it. In this one there is deception, death, running from the law, being framed, an unexpected baby, and the past not staying there, in the past. I loved midwife, Catherine Remington’s character, she is an upstanding woman given some bad breaks and who goes through a mistaken identity. I also enjoyed Dylan McQuaid’s character, despite him being the prodigal son he is now back in the family fold trying to make things right. He hopes to prove his new and trustworthy self by becoming the sheriff of Fairplay. Furthering the showing of how mature he’s become when he is presented with the proof of something in his past that has caught up with him, he admits to his past and willingly makes things right. Though most of the story focused on Catherine and Dylan we also are treated to Dylans brothers, sister and nieces and nephews in the book. I love the characters in this big happy family, and you better believe they have each other’s backs, but they also expect each other to play fair as well and to do their part. I can’t wait to read more by this author.

The Medieval time period is not a time period I thought I would enjoy reading. After all, how could I enjoy reading about a time period so different than mine that I know almost nothing about. I have read just about every single historical fiction the author has put out and loved them so I figured oh what the heck, I am going to try her “Waters of Time” series and I am sold on it. Now I can tell you this, I won’t read any other author’s medieval time books but this series, it’s amazing. I am so excited to see Sybil and Nicholas have their own story. such a strong, passionate and positive couple. The story is so well researched that I was absolutely captivated as I read it, way too late into the night. Canterberry is the setting of this time travel blending fact and fiction in a book you won’t be able to put down. It was so intriguing to learn about the black plague, the importance of archery, the troublesome spies for the English and the French and how easily they would jail you. The one sure fire thing linking this series together is the holy water. I didn’t realize it’s importance during this time period. I fully recommend this series and eagerly look forward to reading book four upon its release.

The author writes in many genres and excels at all of them. I have read all of the books in this series, all wonderful but this one is my favorite. Brody is a broken man from his time spent in the Civil War and what he blames himself for being unable to do. Spending time with his little niece relaxes him and makes him feel whole again. Though he may not show it outwardly he has a tender heart , especially when it comes to the wild horses in the area who are being killed by local ranchers when their cattle don’t have enough of the lush grass for grazing. Despite no formal training Savannah Marshall has vet smarts after working with a trained veterinarian for many years. Wanting to please her father she agrees to marry a man of his choosing but decides against it at the last minute and runs away. Not having a destination in mind she gets to town and sees a horse being terribly mistreated and rushes to treat it. Two tender hearts meet then, Brody with his love of animals and Savannah with her doctoring knowledge and her love of animals. Savannah is on the run and her family wants her back but will love be able to run wild and free like the horses when she is found or will her heart be caged? We also get a glimpse of Brody’s sister in this story, she will not be held back. She is free spirited and I love her personality. I’ll bet there will be a book telling her story soon and I can’t wait to read it. I loved this book!
