Blog Tour For Christmas in Bellbird Bay by Maggie Christensen

About The Book

Libby Walker never imagined she’d be moving into the dream house she and her husband had purchased for their retirement as a widow. Intent on making a new life for herself in the quiet coastal town of Bellbird Bay, Libby’s life is upended by an unexpected call from her daughter.

Adam Holland’s unhappy childhood and broken home has left him scarred. Content with the life he has built for himself as a journalist and author of political thrillers, Adam arrives in Bellbird Bay to fulfil the deathbed request of an old friend.

When Libby and Adam meet, there is an initial attraction. But Libby is grieving for her late husband and trying to help her daughter sort out her life, and Adam has no intention of forming a relationship, wary of commitment because of how his family was torn apart.

Will the peace and tranquility of Bellbird Bay help these two move on from old hurts and make this a Christmas to remember, or will events conspire to keep them apart?

A heartwarming tale of family, friends, and how a second chance at love can happen when you least expect it.

Book 4 of 5 Bellbird Bay

273 pages e-book

November 3,2022 publication date

My Thoughts

It’s always so much fun discovering a new to me author that you really enjoy their book.
Though this is the fourth book in the Bellbird Bay series I didn’t have a problem just jumping right in and enjoying this book. I enjoyed this one so much I NEED to read the others though.
One of the things I enjoyed about this series is it’s about mature women and they are empowered not made to feel less important like in some books.
Libby Walker has moved into her dream house in Bellbird Bay, it’s a beautiful coastal area. She never imagined it would be without her husband who has died prematurely, they had such a bright future planned for retirement. She has her big fuzzy mutt keeping her company and though grieving she’s not looking for more than female friendships.
Settling in she’s made friends with many women in this small, charming area, then she gets the call. Her daughter is devastated, her husband has left her and his daughter. Libby invites them to Bellbird Bay to live with her until she’s able to get back on her feet again.
Enter Adam Holland, political thriller author who has come to Bellbird Bay to spread the ashes of his good friend there as his last request. Not planning on staying long or become acclimated to the area and its people the attraction between Libby and Adam is instant on both their parts. Neither of this is planning on this happening.
I want to visit Bellbird Bay; it sounds so peaceful and the people so warm and welcoming.
Second chance romances bring healing to these couples.
You will feel right at home reading this book and want to read more in this series. I know I do.

About The Author

After a career in education, Maggie Christensen began writing contemporary women’s fiction portraying mature women facing life-changing situations, and historical fiction set in her native Scotland. Her travels inspire her writing, be it her trips to visit family in Scotland, in Oregon, USA or her home on Queensland’s beautiful Sunshine Coast. Maggie writes of mature heroines coming to terms with changes in their lives and the heroes worthy of them. Maggie has been called the queen of mature age fiction and her writing has been described by one reviewer as like a nice warm cup of tea. It is warm, nourishing, comforting and embracing.

From the small town in Scotland where she grew up, Maggie was lured to Australia by the call to ‘Come and teach in the sun’. Once there, she worked as a primary school teacher, university lecturer and in educational management. Now living with her husband of over thirty years on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, she loves walking on the deserted beach in the early mornings and having coffee by the river on weekends. Her days are spent surrounded by books, either reading or writing them – her idea of heaven!

Harvest Moon Kisses (Pumpkin Patch #3) by Linda Carroll-Bradd Review

About The Book

For the past four years, Tamsyn Norwood has operated the family’s pumpkin patch and corn maze. Although the business barely breaks even. During college, she spent a glorious night in a pumpkin patch with her boyfriend. Sadly, that relationship didn’t last, but she has worked hard to recreate the special feeling for others. If the patch income doesn’t improve by November first, her father threatens to plow the acres for a cash crop. She works herself ceaselessly to come up with supporting activities to keep the business going.

Ex-professional football player Harper Ashton is in town visiting an old college buddy. Released from his team because of an injured elbow, he’s at a crossroads over what comes next in his life. Life in this small town is nothing he’s ever experienced, and he soaks in the sense of community. He crosses paths with a college sweetheart, and suddenly, he has a new goal. Maybe his marketing degree and his famous name will help her struggling enterprise.

Working together reminds them of their college years. But can they recapture a love under the harvest moonlight?

My Thoughts

Tamsyn Norwood has taken over her mother’s dream of running the family’s pumpkin patch. It’s become so important to her in the past four years to keep what her mother started alive.
Her family doesn’t see it this way, not even her father who Tamsyn thought it would be important to him to keep his late wife’s dream alive. They say it’s just business no time to get sentimental and want to plow the pumpkin patch under and plant it with a more profitable crop.
She tries to come up with ideas to make the patch more profitable, but she seems to be on the losing end.
Harper Ashton, an old friend and more importantly old flame, visiting town may just the remedy she needs to keep the pumpkin patch afloat as they work together for the common good. I enjoyed seeing the spark reunite between this couple and the kindness they exhibit towards each other putting new marketing techniques into place.
Fun, heartwarming read.

About The Author

As a young girl, I spent lots of my free time lying on my bed reading about fascinating characters having exciting adventures in places far away and in other time periods. In later years, I discovered and devoured family saga stories and romance novels. At a certain point, I grew cocky enough to think I could write one of these stories. Then I learned what a balancing act writing a novel is, but I wasn’t deterred. Twelve years later, my first fiction sale was achieved–a confession story.

After reading Debra Holland’s “Montana Sky” series and Caroline Fyffe’s “Prairie Hearts” series, I wanted to try my hand at historicals. I was thrilled to be invited to contribute to Sweetwater Springs Christmas and continued writing in the Montana Sky world by developing my Entertainers of the West series.

Married with 4 adult children and 2 granddaughters, I now write heartwarming contemporary and historical stories with a touch of humor and a bit of sass from my home in the southern California mountains. Lots of my stories are set in Texas where I lived for a dozen years.

Anything But Plain By Suzanne Woods Fisher-Review

About The Book

It’s not easy being the bishop’s daughter, especially for Lydie Stoltzfus. She’s not like other Amish girls, as much as she wishes she were. The only thing she does well is disappoint others. Leaving her family and church seems unbearable, but staying might be worse.

Knowing Lydie is “between” jobs, the local doctor asks her to fill in at the front desk for a few months. To Lydie, this is a boon. It gives her time to figure out how she’s going to say goodbye to her neighbor, Nathan Yoder–the main reason she needs to leave Stoney Ridge. Nathan claims he’s in love with her, but she knows she’s not good enough for him. If in doubt, Nathan’s father reminds her frequently.

As Dok spends time with Lydie, she recognizes symptoms of a disorder rare among the Amish. She offers treatment for Lydie. But will it be enough to make her stay? Or has help come too late?

Bestselling and award-winning author Suzanne Woods Fisher invites you back to Stoney Ridge, a small town that feels like an old friend.

My Thoughts

Lydie Stoltzfus, she doesn't have an easy life. Feeling like the square peg in a round hole she's the Bishops daughter and that gets her constantly judged. She doesn't fit in with the other Amish girls, sometimes she doesn't care, sometimes she feels left out. She usually takes a bit longer to do things, getting distracted easily and needing a detailed list for things. She understands things a bit differently.
I have learned a lot about ADHD , (Adult attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a mental health disorder that includes a combination of persistent problems, such as difficulty paying attention, hyperactivity and impulsive behavior.) I feel a strong compassion towards those having this. The author explained it so well and handled it so respectfully.
I was impressed with the idea of organic farming, no spraying of crops and how well the son who did this type of farming does with sales. I am all for organics, so much tastier and healthier.
Like all of us the characters are mightily flawed and may not be at first but they seek redemption, forgiveness,God and to better not only themselves but themselves for others. I was so touched by the forgiveness that was asked for and also given. A Lot of characters started out one way and changed to a much better God seeking way.
I always feel so good when I read one of this author's books.

A QUILT FOR CHRISTMAS BY MELODY CARLSON-REVIEW

About The Book

Christmas should be celebrated with family. But for Vera Swanson, that’s not an option this year. Widowed and recently relocated, she is lonely in her condo-for-one–until little Fiona Albright knocks on her door needing help. With her mother seriously ill and her father out of town, Fiona enlists Vera’s help, and when she finds out her new neighbor is a quilter, she has a special request–a Christmas quilt for Mama.

Vera will have to get a ragtag group of women together in order to fulfill the request. Between free-spirited artist Tasha, chatty empty nester Beverly, retired therapist Eleanor, and herself, Vera has hopes that Christmas for the Albright family will be merry, after all–and she may find herself a new family of friends along the way.

Bestselling and award-winning author Melody Carlson invites you to cuddle up this holiday season with this cozy story of giving, forgiving, and a little bit of romance.

My Thoughts

It simply would not be Christmas time without reading the annual Melody Carlson Christmas novella. I always feel such a sense of peace and goodness wash over me after I am finished with it.
In this one there are a group of people, some broken, widowed, sad, lonely or have just lost their way a bit. These people who were once strangers come together as now friends for the betterment of each other and unselfishly help out and boost each other’s spirits. When you help others, it gives you a sense of accomplishment and that warm happy feeling.
This book is such a warm blessing and I recommend it to you.

About The Author

Melody Carlson has written more than 200 books (with sales around 6.5 million) for teens, women and children. That’s a lot of books, but mostly she considers herself a “storyteller.” Her novels range from serious issues like schizophrenia (Finding Alice) to lighter topics like house-flipping (A Mile in My Flip-Flops) but most of the inspiration behind her fiction comes right out of real life. Her young adult novels (Diary of a Teenage Girl, TrueColors etc.) appeal to teenage girls around the world. Her annual Christmas novellas become more popular each year. She’s won a number of awards (including Romantic Time’s Career Achievement Award, the Rita and the Gold Medallion) and some of her books have been optioned for film/TV. And when she hears that a coastguard cottage in the tiny village of Sandy Cove is for sale, she knows it could be her chance. My Thoughts

Being of Irish nationality I love to visit Ireland through books as I dream of actually visiting there someday. This was a magical visit to the beautiful south-west of Ireland to the fictional village of Sandy Cove on the gorgeous Irish coast.
Edwina is ready to settle in and make a new start and she does so by buying five cottages in Sandy Cove. Immediately the gossip starts with villagers speculating on who bought the cottages and wondering if they will be torn down and what building will replace them. You just can’t escape the small-town gossip mill.
Walking along the beach she finds a bottle that has been washed up upon the shore and after reading the heartbreaking message the only thing she can think about is finding the person who wrote the letter. She’s not sure if this will even be possible as the message has been written twenty years ago.
I was drawn into Edwina’s life as she discovers family secrets, has a reunion, shows graciousness and forgiveness and finds a special relationship. A mix of the perfect amount of romance and heartwarming scenes.
The author pulls you into her writing world with the scenery, set up and characters.
The loose threads from previous books have come together and I look forward to more in this entertaining series.

Reunion Beach: Stories Inspired by Dorothea Benton Frank by various authors-Review

About The Book

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER!

In this warm and moving anthology, a group of bestselling authors and writers pay tribute to legendary, larger-than-life New York Times bestselling author Dorothea Benton Frank and her literary legacy.

Inspired by the title Dorothea Benton Frank planned for her next book—Reunion Beach—these close friends and colleagues channeled their creativity, admiration, and grief into stories and poems that celebrate this remarkable woman and her abiding love for the Lowcountry of her native South Carolina—a land of beauty, history, charm, and Gullah magic she so brilliantly brought to life in her acclaimed novels.

From Elin Hilderbrand, #1 New York Times bestselling author, a sequel to Summer of ’69.

From Adriana Trigiani, New York Times bestselling author, comes a heartwarming, humorous interview from the hereafter with Pat Conroy and Dorothea Benton Frank, two beloved icons of Southern literature.

From Patti Callahan, bestselling author of Becoming Mrs. Lewis and Surviving Savannah, comes The Bridemaids, a story about a trip to the South Carolina beach.

From Mary Alice Monroe, New York Times bestselling author, Mother and Child Reunion, a heartwarming story set under the warm South Carolina sun.

Reunion Beach also features letters, short stories, poems, and essays from:

  • Mary Norris, New York Times bestselling author and staff writer for The New Yorker
  • Cassandra King Conroy, bestselling and award-winning author of Tell Me A Story
  • Nathalie Dupree, James Beard Award-winning cookbook author
  • Marjory Wentworth, former Poet Laureate of South Carolina
  • Gervais Hagerty, author of In Polite Company
  • Jacqueline Bouvier Lee, Peter Frank, Victoria Peluso, and William Frank

Infused with Dorothea Benton Frank’s remarkable spirit, Reunion Beach is a literary homage and beautiful keepsake that keeps this dearly missed writer’s flame burning bright.

My Thoughts

Reunion Beach was to be the title of Dorothea Benton Frank’s next title but sadly this larger-than-life beloved author was diagnosed with a fast-acting disease that claimed her life several months later.
She had many friends in the publishing industry and made all around her feel at ease.
The authors of this book collaborated on writing this title to honor her life by writing essays, stories, poems, sharing recipes and sharing memories.
I enjoyed all of the memories, but I’d have to say Adriana Trigiani’s story of Postcards from Heaven was my favorite. It is written as if it’s from her best writing friend Pat Conroy who passed before Dorothea. In his own way he did not leave her behind as he kept in touch. He sent post cards from heaven.
Nathalie Dupree, award winning cookbook author shares recipes for foods and drink.
This is a warm and moving anthology paying tribute to New York Times bestselling author Dorothea Benton Frank.

#Halloween Vibes #Autumn Tricked In October (Pine Ridge #2) By Starla DeKruyf-Review

About The Book

In this best-friends-to-lovers romance, mistaken identity leads to a Halloween hook-up that might not be so mistaken after all.

After losing her husband last winter, the thought of hosting a Halloween couples costume party is the furthest thing from Kelsey O’Henry’s mind. Besides raising three young children, managing O’Henry’s Bar and Grill, and caring for her alcoholic mother, she has more important things to worry about. Like the stack of unpaid business loans that threaten the bar’s existence. As well as her newfound feelings she’s developed for her best guy friend.

Davis Vance is tired of being followed around by cameras. He misses the days before he and his twin brother became “Renovation Dudes”—hosts of an HGTV show. When Davis learns Kelsey could lose the bar at the end of the fall season, he sees it as an opportunity to not only help his friend, but as a way out of renewing his HGTV contract.

There’s just one problem—lately Davis’s feelings for Kelsey have been less friendly and more romantic. And on the night of the bar’s Halloween party, both Kelsey and Davis can no longer ignore their desires. Will their passionate evening be a one-night stand—only a flicker of heat during the crisp autumn, or will she risk her pride and accept his help?

Pumpkin patch in autumn.

My Thoughts

I am a cover lover. I’ll admit to judging a book by it’s cover. There are so many book options out there so an appealing cover makes me much more likely to want to grab a book to read and this one did it for me.
This book is perfect for this time of year. It has such a Fallish/Halloweenish vibe all the way through it and it was great.
Tricked in October has a woman who lost her husband last winter. She has so much going on she’s tripping over her own feet trying to get it all done. She has three young children,an alcoholic mother who also runs a bakeshop that she wants her to help manage, a bar she’s about to lose because of back bills and more. O’Henry’s Bar and Grill was her late husband’s bar and though Kelsey O’Henry runs it because it’s been in her husband’s family a long time she feels she should pass it down to her children but it’s giving her more stress than she can handle.
Throw in her best guy friend Davis Vance, she seems to be falling for him. With her responsibilities she really doesn’t need this complication.
Davis and his twin brother are filming a HGTV show and are recognizable now. One twin enjoys the extra attention from women, one does not.
Davis has been friends with Kelsey for a long time and would love to move this relationship to a more personal level but will the timing be right or will the Halloween chill be in the air between them?
Loved the Fall vibes in this and will be looking forward to read more by this author.

About The Author

Starla DeKruyf started writing when she still had words left to say and everyone stopped listening. Her love of romance novels began when she borrowed her friend’s copy of Tiger Eyes by Judy Blume and kept it hidden from her mom. Release Day Review-Dreaming of A Heartlake Christmas by Sarah Robinson

About the Book

When sparks start flying, these total opposites discover Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year.

To raise enough money to start her own business, Nola Bennett needs to sell “The Castle,” her beloved grandmother’s historic house, and get back home to the city. But Heart Lake’s most eligible bachelor is insisting she hang on to the property. He may be one of the hottest, grumpiest men she’s ever seen, but Nola has no time to pine over her high school crush.

All woodworker Tanner Dean wants for Christmas is some peace and quiet, but that’s not going to happen with infuriating, irresistible Nola Bennett back in town. How can he persuade her to keep The Castle out of the hands of greedy developers when sizzling attraction flares every time they’re together? And the more time he spends with Nola, the harder it becomes to picture a future without her—unless he can convince her, once and for all, that Heart Lake is exactly where she belongs.

My Review

We all want to be home for the holidays, but what if home really doesn’t feel like home anymore?
Nola Bennett needs to sell “The Castle” her grandmother’s historic house in Heart Lake since she has passed. Coming back to her hometown with all it’s memories of the good times in this small charming town, her best friend who still lives there and the many memories of visiting with her grandmother, not to mention this is where her first love still lives . None of these memories should deter her from what she needs to do, sell the house and be on her way back to the big city where she has moved on with an important job and no thoughts of this small town life.
This charming Hallmark like plot was such a fun read. The setting was atmospheric and romantic. Loved the setting of the snow storm.
Nola wants to run back to the big city as soon as she takes care of business but Tanner Dean her previous flame is the nostalgic type wanting her to stay in this small hometown of theirs, remember the good times and not sell the “Castle”. A whimsical, small town charming romance full of plenty of heartwarming scenes and Christmas charm. Now this is definitely worth a second read this holiday season.

Summer on Blackberry Beach (Mistletoe, Maine #2)by Belle Calhoune-Review

About The Book

A faux summer fling seemed like the perfect solution . . . until they start falling in love for real.

Teacher Stella Marshall’s summer break has just began, but the gossip is already sizzling: Luke Keegan’s back in town! Stella’s high school crush is all grown up and smolderingly sexy. She might even consider a fling with the former Navy SEAL, if she hadn’t already sworn off all romantic entanglements. But there isn’t a single thing she can do to stop the rumor mill whispering about her and Luke being together—unless . . .

showmance! Luke never thought he’d propose a fake relationship, but it’s the only way to stop the runaway speculation about their love lives. Pretending to date a woman as stunning as Stella is easy. Not actually falling for her is the hard part. Luke isn’t sure he deserves a hometown happy ending, when members of his SEAL team never made it back at all. But there’s real attraction buzzing between him and Stella . . . and he knows she feels it too. Could their faux summer romance lead to true love?

My Review

Another chance to meet back up with our friends in Mistletoe,Maine and I am delighted with these characters. You can be assured there’s plenty of romance in this hard to put down fun book. The first book in the series was sister Lucy Marshall’s story now it’s grade school teacher Stella Marshall’s turn to have a little romance brighten her life. Her high school crush is back in town, former Navy SEAL, Luke Keegan. He never even noticed her back in school when she was crushing on him but believe me he sure notices her now. There is wild speculation around this small charming town that the two are already an item so they agree on a fake romance to throw everyone off track. What they feel between them isn’t fake though so how do they fight their feelings?
Luke doesn’t feeling deserving of a good woman such as Lucy though after what he went through as a SEAL. Romance or memories? Will Luke let his past hold him back from a fresh start with this special woman? The author writes in a sensitive way handling the character’s PTSD in a gentle way.
I am looking forward to reading the next book in this inspirational series.
