What are your thoughts on the concept of living a very long life?
Our first impulse is to say yes, I want to live a long life and yes, that is mine as well.
But, I want to live a long life full of health , I don’t have daily pain but I don’t want it to accompany me as I age I want to be mentally capable of making the correct decisions. My grandmother, Hazel had dementia. I pray I never get it or my husband whose father had it I am a vegetarian for several reasons, to help the environment, I can’t stand the thought of a poor animal suffering and dying for me to eat it and also for my health and contributing to its longevity. Many people take at least one medication daily and they have a multitude of reasons for it that they can’t help. I feel very fortunate that I don’t have any prescriptions I need to take. As you age your loved ones die off and you become lonely . Yes, you have the younger generations but you’re never as close to them as you are with your immediate family. So yes, there are pros and cons to longevity that is more so than the average life span.

I also am a vegetarian. Living a long life if mental health is intact and not too much pain would be a gift. I already appreciate the years I’ve been given!

Your lyrics express a balanced and conscious perspective on what it means to live a long life and the conditions that make it desirable or not.

I’ve already lived a very long life, according to many. I’m hoping for more years!

My maternal grandmother lived to be 95. She started to develop dementia in her late 80s. My paternal grandfather lived to be 97 with no signs of dementia or other illnesses except heart disease. They both out lived their spouses. My grandfather outliving three wives. And they both seemed content in their elder years so they set an example for me. I used to want to live to 120 but as I’ve gotten older I’ve settled on mid to late 90s. I live a fairly healthy lifestyle so my concern is loneliness if I happen to out live my husband. We’re childfree. He’s best friend and we do almost everything together, so living a long time without him might feel a bit empty to me.

It’s wonderful you have such strong family genes living a long life.y grandmother lived to 89. Outliving 3 spouses is really something. With you taking care of yourself and such long lines on both sides of your family id say you’ll have a long healthy life yourself and that’s great. As long as health is there I’d want that too.
