I think instincts/gut-feelings are good for judging people, but like you say, we are sometimes wrong and need to be humble. One thing that I’ve noticed is that about factual things, what is true or false, our instincts are terrible. You have to look at and understand the evidence.

I won’t say my instincts have never been wrong but they seem to work perfectly in the big tickets items!
