Happy Friday & welcome to First Line Friday hosted at Reading is my Super Power! It’s time to grab the book nearest to you and leave a comment with the first line. Today I’m delighted to feature the first line of Fables from Scotland by Samuel Denhartog.

Sounds very interesting and up my alley as The Story Lady, but unfortunately the selection is not intriguing, but more self-help section of my TBR, which is How to Win Friends & Influence People: Special Anniversary Edition by Dale Carnegie! I think I got it as a recommendation when I was in college don’t remember what degree it was for though, lol, meaning Bachelor’s , or my three Master’s degrees! I forget sometimes I have to clarify my puns to people that don’t know my background! Anyway, I still haven’t managed to get it read regardless! Here is the first lines:

How to Win Friends and Influence People was first published in 1937 in an edition of only five thousand copies. Neither Dale Carnegie nor the publishers, Simon and Schuster, anticipated more than this modest sale. To their amazement, the book became an overnight sensation, and edition after edition rolled off the presses to keep up with the increasing public demand.
I guess you could say I have an assortment of all different types of books in my TBR list!

You’ve made a great point here. When I was younger I heard of the incredible popularity of this book but somehow never got around to reading it. I’m glad you brought this book up I really do need to make it a priority, Karen. It pays to have a large variety of different genres on your reading list, it keeps things interesting.

Thank you! I wish I could remember how long I have had it and I want to say it was one of my Master’s degrees since they were in Education with one being in School Library Media and the other two being in Early Childhood Education! Just a side note you would probably like to know that my Bachelor’s was in English and minored in Appalachian Studies which is another reason I liked your book! One of my research papers was about the Stereotypes of Fairytales!
