What’s your favorite game (card, board, video, etc.)? Why?
I’m not a card ♦️♠️ player. Board games seem to have gone out of fashion as well. Once in a while I enjoy monopoly, scrabble or scattergories. Video games I like the original Animal Crossing on the Game Cube and all the Mario games esp. Super Mario 64. On my mobile I love challenging myself with word games On my mobile I also play Board Kings and Charm King. I have played these off and on for years.

No doubt! Don’t play them very often . I even just enjoy watching someone play the Mario games.

That’s right, it’s just fun to play them casually and not put pressure on yourself. The sand level, flying level and metal levels are so hard. My son started playing this game when he was 4 years old and he wasn’t half bad, I t was fun to watch him play.

My ex would laugh at me bc all I did was jump off Peach’s drawbridge all the time until my nephew taught me the first two levels lol… I loved watching him (my nephew not my ex lol) play too. 😀 I got him into video games. 😀

My 7 year old grandson and I are great boardgame players – ludo, snakes and ladders, and scrabble are currently our favorites. Next time he comes to stay I plan to introduce him to Monopoly.

Board games are so much fun, glad to hear he’s enjoying them so much. I’d love to play more often but my husband doesn’t have the patience for them and my kids aren’t interested any more.

My husband won’t play either . . . Nor will he play cards. 🤷♀️

I am not a video game player at all. I enjoy board games with my grandkids, we often play Sorry and Snakes and Ladders. I play a card game with friends called 5 Crowns or 3/13 which is fun. I used to love Monopoly, but the kids are too varied in age to play it yet.

I don’t play video games very often Carla. I enjoy board games but hubby doesn’t have the patience and the kids have their phones and can’t be bothered . I know what you mean it takes long term concentration to play Monopoly and little ones don’t have that yet, too easily distracted.

The Nintendo 64 was my first game system but I played Super Mario 64 much later as an adult.
Man, it was so hard to get a comment going on this post…lost track of everything I typed.

Sorry to hear that. I hope it’s been resolved now.

ah, so you must play Wordle or the Word w/friends game. i’ve looked for a couple good senior games, but haven’t found one, although i do enjoy Mahjong (not a senior game).

I do play word games, haven’t in months so because I’m too busy but really do enjoy the challenge of it.

It’s really difficult to find players who are willing to play a board game these days. They’re non existent!
End of a wonderful era that was so relaxing on a rainy day.

I agree. Are you in the US? I’ve heard in the UK there are actually board game cafes but I can’t find any here in the US?

I’m from Shillong in the north east india.
Back here when the clouds open up it rains for a week or more.
It’s really sad that everyone has moved on to smartphones and computers.
I really miss the human interaction and it’s one of the reasons why I’ve moved to a rural setting. It’s the same scenario in the countryside but people at least stop by to say hello from time to time.
Urbanization is killing everyone or turning them into zombies.
Nobody reads fiction anymore and an uncle of mine (who is a literary writer) and who completed a term in Notre Dame insisted that I keep my fiction writing to a hundred pages. Reason being that Gen Z have limited attention spans.
Just try talking to anyone these days and you’ll find that their eyes flick away after about fifteen seconds tops.
In a business sense though, now is the best time to build and take over the world.
Everyone is so conditioned to reading one liners and they’re glued to their phones.
And what’s worse is that everyone is addicted to sugar. All processed food and junk food contain a percentage of sugar in them.
It’s not me. Mr. wonderful of shark tank said so! According to Kevin O Leary consuming more than 3 spoons of sugar is detrimental for one’s mental health.
Yes, those are my problems and I’m still a millenial. And whenever I invited a few friends over (years ago) to play a board game they all made up an excuse to not come.
I know I’m complaining the same way my parents complained when I was a teenager but for christ-sakes; doesn’t anyone want to just hang out anymore without the need to meet up at a bar and get hammered all the time.
There is one silver lining though. I’ve just discovered the secret to getting rich.
Read and educate yourself. All the information of the world is now on the internet and with AI, learning is a piece of cake. I’m currently learning CSS HTML javascript and later, maybe python.
Me, a farmer and who once was a lorry driver. My friends think I’ve gone mad. In a year’s time I’ll prove them otherwise as I merge my skills, AI, with my current business. LOL.
But I really miss playing board games like monopoly and Scotland yard. It was so much fun being able to talk and quarrel over imaginary money. And smoke local tobacco and maybe even have a shot of rum.
Wish I was 17 again. 😢😢😢☮️

Excellent points here. It’s all true, no one wants to associate with anyone. All they need is a phone, sad to see. Communication skills have gone down the drain and sugar is rotting our insides.

To be fair, I’ve played board games and I own some at home and I drew my OCs playing Monopoly once.
Other than that, not in a good long while besides playing video games.

I think I’ve had my fill with videogames. Wasn’t super Mario and later gran turismo enough.
These days I play simple 3d games on the phone. Airport madness has me hooked whenever I need to pass time.
It’s a stupid game but since everyone around me is stupid so I might as well join them. 😒 LOL. 😆

Grab a book and you’ll be smarter than those around you. Mario games still hit though!

So hard to find anyone to play a board game with you. No one has the attention span anymore and just want their phone. Sad!
