When I had my first child in 1992 this is what made me grow the most. I have learned so much from having children. It was no longer about what I wanted or needed but thinking of them first, what they need and want. I’m hungry? So what, that’ll wait this little person is hungry and is screamingly telling me how hungry they are. I’m tired, it’s 2 a.m.? So what this little person is hungry and needs soothing after eating, my sleep will wait. It is a humbling experience and great privilege to be a parent to my children along with my husband. To suddenly be thrust into a role where you are completely responsible for everything for this newborn child. You are responsible for keeping them alive. I’m tearing up just thinking about it. I do miss this time in their lives.

Yes having children really changes everything, especially for mothers but fathers too.

This is so true! My own needs are always last. I could be almost fainting with hunger, dead on my feet and almost peeing my pants and I’ll always wait until their needs are met and they’re calm and happy. TMI but it has happened that my husband comes home in the evening and the first thing I say is “please take the babies, I’ve been desperate to use the bathroom since 8 am” 😂
