Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
Books I Read On Vacation is this week’s topic. (bonus points if you tell us where you were!)

New Jersey trip
1940, Bletchley Park: As I stand alone outside the imposing gates in the darkness of the night, I have no idea what lies ahead. All I have with me is a suitcase of clothes and a handful of letters from my fiancé. But I’m determined to fight in whatever way I can for freedom and for love…

New Jersey trip
Turning off the winding coastal road and seeing the old farmhouse surrounded by cranberry vines ahead, Lily’s breath catches in her throat. It’s just how she remembers it. But pushing open the wooden front door for the first time in decades, it’s clear everything has changed…

Anniversary trip-New England states
In bucolic small-town Vermont, Stella Thornton Buckley feels out of her element—and not just because she’s fresh from Manhattan. Mere hours after moving to maple syrup country, she and her husband, Nick, find a dead man, Allen Weston, in their well. The police investigation forces the couple out of their lovely farmhouse and—since the motels are packed with leafpeepers—into a less than luxurius deer camp. Instead of mourning the loss of electricity and running water, Stella and Nick drive their Smart Car all over the Vermont hamlet to question the quirky locals about Weston, a shrewd businessman who rubbed a lot of folks the wrong way. Stella and Nick may never shed their flatlander reputation, but they just might be able to make a few friends and help Sheriff Mills solve a murder.

From top-ten bestseller Ella Carey comes a stunning Second World War novel. The glitter, glamor and danger of 1940s New York collide in this dazzling story about a young woman striving to survive in a world where everything is set against her.

Shirley Davenport is as much a patriot as her four brothers. She, too, wants to aid her country in the war efforts, but opportunities for women are limited. When her best friend Joan informs her that the Coast Guard has opened a new branch for single women, they both enlist in the SPARs, ready to help protect the home front.

A Journey Full of Hope…
Escape into a riveting story based on the mystery of the Lost Colony of Roanoke.
Author Shannon McNear portrays history with vivid authenticity.
In 1587, Elinor White Dare sailed from England heavy with her first child but full of hopes. Her father, a renowned artist and experienced traveler, has convinced her and her bricklayer husband Ananias to make the journey to the New World. Land, they are promised, more goodly and beautiful than they can ever imagine. But nothing goes as planned from landing at the wrong location, to facing starvation, to the endless wait for help to arrive. And, beyond her comprehension, Elinor finds herself utterly alone. . . .
The colony at Roanoke disappeared into the shadows of history. But, what if one survived to leave a lasting legacy?

North Carolina trip
She’s ready to start a new chapter in her life…
For Tess Lane, owning Lakeside Books is a dream come true, but it’s the weekly book club she hosts for the women in town that Tess enjoys the most. The gatherings have been her lifeline over the past three years since her husband’s mysterious death. Tess has tried to move on, but when River Harrison shows up on her doorstep, all her lingering questions come rushing back.…

North Carolina trip
A burned-out veterinarian takes a much-needed beach vacation, where a charming surfer makes waves in her love life, and a unique foster pup renews her passion for her work.

Different North Carolina trip
A woman hires a housekeeper to care for her aging parents—only to watch as she takes over their lives in this riveting novel from the New York Times bestselling author called “an ingenious master of domestic suspense” (Samantha M. Bailey).

Second North Carolina trip
When an engagement of convenience becomes anything but convenient . . .
Forced into a betrothal with a widower twice her age, Charleston socialite, Sophia Fairfield is desperate for an escape. But, while her fiancé is away on business, he assigns his handsome stepson, Carver, the task of looking after his bride-to-be. Much to her dismay, Sophia finds herself falling in love with the wrong gentleman—a man society would never allow her to marry, given Sophia was supposed to be his new stepmother. The only way to save Carver from scandal and financial ruin is to run away, leaving him and all else behind to become a Harvey Girl waitress at the Castañeda Hotel in New Mexico.
Isn’t traveling fun and it’s even better when it involves a great book or three you’ve brought along with you. What are your books you couldn’t leave behind on your vacation?
Thanks for stopping by and happy travels.

I saw a British TV show about the Bletchley Girls, but never read any books. Perhaps I should look into some of them because the show is really very good and interesting. 🙂

I’m telling you that you should look into reading a few books about it. I really enjoyed it. I got two of them from NetGalley but have only read this one and my local library has some books on this topic too. Great subject to read about. I think you’ll enjoy it. Have fun! 🙂

Great listbof lovely looking books here! Well-Offed in Vermont is a great title!
I found this a tricky one, not having gone away on vacation for a long time so these are the books I read over the last summer long vacation.

Thanks, it’s so much fun to make the challenge your own and change it up in a way that suits you. I am loving that cover of Well-Offed in Vermont, especially since I was traveling in Vermont at the time.

Glad you get to read on vacation. I might not be able to do that on my next vacation. Too much sightseeing and visiting. Nice books though

Oh I do the sightseeing too, plenty of it. But I always make time for relaxation with books in the evening even if it’s only for a little while.

So many great choices this week, but I really love the cover for Well-Offed in Vermont. How charming is that? I’m not familiar with that series, but it sounds like exactly the kind of cozy I enjoy.

I agree it is a charming cover, it drew me to it. I also have the second in the series by Amy Patricia Meade, it’s called Short Circuited in Charlotte. The series is called A Vermont Country Living Mystery. Sounds like a magazine to me 🙂

It was one of my favorite on this book list. The story is very appealing. I love animal stories and don’t read nearly enough, though I recently read The Secrets of Emberwild, a story of a majestic horse.

I really should know by now NOT to visit your blog. All I do when I’m here is find new books to add to my already overflowing TBR list! LOL. I haven’t read any of these, but they ALL sound like ones I would like. Agh. Off to add even MORE books to the ole TBR…
Happy TTT!

Hehehe, you know you crave these books. I wish I could read 5 a day to actually start to catch up. It probably wouldn’t make much of a change in my overflowing bookshelves though 🙂
