That’s a great trope! The book that comes to mind for this one is one I loved, THINGS YOU SAVE IN A FIRE by Katherine Center.

Cool topic! I’ve read books set during wars, but I haven’t read many that focus on soldiers. I usually read about the people left behind.

Right! I read them all. Lately I’ve been reading mostly WWII books before that it was Civil War but I don’t see as many of them publishing.
