Holding the Line (Love Along the Wires #3) by Jennifer Delamare-Review

About The Book

Can she find the strength to heal the wounds of her past–and open her heart again?

A widow at just thirty years of age, Rose Finlay is determined to put all ideas of marriage and family behind her and pursue an independent life. But when she notices a young woman about to be led astray by a roguish aristocrat, bitter memories from her past arise, and she feels compelled to intervene. The unintended consequences of her efforts will ultimately force Rose to reexamine her life in a new light.

As the guardian of his two widowed sisters’ financial and domestic affairs, John Milburn carries heavy responsibilities for a single man. But he’s faced with his biggest challenge when his headstrong niece falls prey to the attentions of a powerful man who could ruin both her and her family.

When Rose and John join forces to protect his niece, they put everything they hold dear–including their growing attraction–in jeopardy.

Alice McNeil resolved at a young age to travel through life unencumbered by love or marriage, free to make her own decisions. A seasoned telegrapher, she’s recently acquired a coveted position at an important trading firm, but when the company’s ambitious junior director returns to London, things begin to change in ways Alice could never have imagined.

For Douglas Shaw, years of hard work and ingenuity enabled him to escape a life of grinding poverty. He’s also determined to marry into high society–a step that will ensure he never returns to the conditions of his past.

He and Alice form a friendly relationship based on mutual respect, but anything deeper is not in their plans. However, when Alice accidentally raises the ire of a jealous and vindictive coworker who’s intent on ruining her life, Alice and Douglas is forced to confront what is truly important in their lives. Will their growing bond give them the courage to risk finding a better way?

My Thoughts

Holding The Line is the third book in the Love Along the Wires series and the final book in this series. While I have enjoyed them all this one may be my favorite of them. I loved seeing Rose, a minor character in the other books have her own story. While this can be read as a standalone in my opinion, you’ll enjoy it more if you read the series as there is some character crossover from book to book.
Rose and John are my favorite characters. Rose, a young widow has been hurt by her late husband, is not looking for any romantic entanglement and is happy to be an independent woman now. She works at the post office and is looking to progress with her job quickly. I enjoyed seeing how John helps his widowed sister and sisters-in-law families, he feels the responsibility for them since his brother’s death. We see a lot of twists and turns in the story as he and Rose work together to try to keep his niece from an aristocratic rake who sweet talks her into believing he is interested in this sweet young naive miss when it’s only her dowry he’s interested in.
A slow burn romance may be developing between Rose and John, but caution will not be thrown to the wind. Intriguing plot kept me reading.

The Sweetheart Fix (Blossom Glen #2) by Miranda Liasson-Review

About The Book

uliet Montgomery absolutely loves her small town of Blossom Glen, Indiana, and everyone loves her. Except for the fact that she’s a couples counselor who suffered a very public breakup that no one can forget. And now her boss asks her to take a step back…which is exactly when the town’s good-lookin’ and unusually gruff mayor offers her an unexpected job.

Jack Monroe absolutely loves being the mayor of his small town. Except when he actually has to talk to people. Can’t he just fix the community problems in peace? Like right now, he’s mediating the silliest dispute two neighbors could possibly have. When the town sweetheart steps up and solves everyone’s problems in five minutes flat, Jack realizes what this town really needs…is a therapist.

Juliet is able to soothe anyone—other than the surly mayor, it seems. But there’s a reason they say opposites attract, because all of their verbal sparring leads to some serious attraction. Only, just like with fireworks, the view might appear beautiful—but she’s already had one public explosion that’s nearly ruined everything…how can she risk her heart again?

Each book in the Blossom Glen series is STANDALONE:
* The Sweetheart Deal
* The Sweetheart Fix

My Thoughts

The Sweetheart Fix is the second book in the Blossom Glen series but no worries if you haven’t read the first in the series as this can easily be read as a stand-alone.
This is a small-town charming romance, a fun romance that you’ll want to tell your sisters and friends about. Blossom Glen, Indiana is home to Juliet Montgomery, she’s known and loved by all.
We also meet Jack, the mayor of this small town. He loves the town and its people but just wants to be left alone to fix its problems. Actually, he only became its mayor to help his grandmother with something he thinks is totally unfair.
Thrown together in a working relationship Juliet sees Jack is a rather grumpy person because of so much stress. Running out of time to help his grandmother leaves Jack frustrated beyond belief. I enjoyed seeing the slow burn of the romance, a real romance was established and grows naturally.
The characters are flawed and imperfect making the book so realistic. There are fun scenes, laughter, a little drama and the sweetest grandmother ever.
The characters are fun, relatable and makes you want to read more about them in future books which I’ll be looking forward to.

Frost Falls at the Potting Shed (The Potting Shed #1) by Jenny Kane-Review

Today I am delighted to post my review of a new series I’ve discovered that is so much fun. Come join me.

About the Book

Frost Falls at The Potting Shed: An absolutely heart-warming and feel-good read to cosy up with this Christmas!

From the author of the bestselling Mill Grange series a new exciting series perfect for fans of Cathy Bramley, Jo Thomas and Trisha Ashley!

It has always been Maddie Willand‘s dream to take over her father’s plant nursery. But after his sudden death, she is devastated to discover that she might lose The Potting Shed forever.

Maddie’s bossy older sister, Sabi, is joint owner of the nursery, and she’s convinced that the best thing for both of them would be to sell up. Determined to keep the business going, Maddie can’t afford any distractions, but staying focused might be harder than she thinks when – after a major garden centre chain puts in an offer – her search for legal advice throws her into the path of attractive lawyer Ed

As frost begins to fall over The Potting Shed, will Maddie find the strength to save her father’s legacy and open herself up to new beginnings?

Readers love Frost Falls at the Potting Shed!

My Thoughts

Frost Falls at the Potting Shed is the start of a brand-new series, The Potting Shed, #1.
I really enjoy gardening and even though it’s Fall here in the states and the only gardening I’m currently doing is watering house plants I really enjoyed it.
Maddie Willand and her bossy, older sister Sabi are devastated by the sudden and unexpected death of their father. The Potting Shed was their father’s whole life, he put everything he had into it and his daughter Maddie still does as well. Looking at the books after his death she’s devastated to learn the shop is badly in the red. Maddie and Sabi are co-owners of the shop but having totally different outlooks on life makes for an incompatible relationship. Maddie is desperate to keep the shop running and honor her father’s memory and she plain just loves the shop with all the family memories it holds. Sabi doesn’t put any stock into sentimental memories and is ready to sell it out from under Maddie. She even goes as far as making devious plans to try to get it sold. Try as she may to hold onto the shop Maddie knows it may all be futile in the end if something doesn’t come up and quickly at that.
This is such a feel-good sentimental journey. It’s not only charming but there is a sweet Christmassy vibe intertwined within the pages as well. I loved the descriptions in the potting shed, Christmas trees, mistletoe, poinsettia and hot chocolate. Throw in the distraction of a sweet new romance and what more could you need?
A definite must read!

Bookouture Blog Tour for Paris at First Light by Amanda Lees

I am delighted to welcome you to my blog today for my stop on the Paris at First Light, Bookouture Blog tour. Once I started reading it, I couldn’t put it down. I recommend this to all historical fiction lovers.

Description

Paris, 1944secret agent Juliette is on her most dangerous mission of the war so far. But then her children are kidnapped, and to get them back she may have to commit the ultimate betrayal – that of France itself…

Four years ago, when France fell to the Nazis, Juliette made the ultimate sacrifice, leaving behind her two precious children to join the Resistance and defend her country. Now a spy in Paris, she must work with Captain Daniel Diaz – an American agent she’s taken an instant dislike to – on a dangerous mission to uncover a deadly Nazi plot.

As the pair play their parts, Juliette begins to see another side to Daniel, and their feelings for each other start to grow. But just as love blossoms, Juliette receives a ransom note that changes everything. Someone in Paris knows who she is. And they’ve kidnapped her little son and daughter. The message is clear: betray your country, or you’ll never see your children alive again.

Juliette has sworn a sacred oath to save France at all costs, but she could never sacrifice her children. So, against all the odds, she decides to attempt the impossible: rescue her children and continue her dangerous work fighting the Nazi threat.

But as the mission forces Juliette and Daniel to the very brink, will they succeed on all fronts? And if not, will France pay the ultimate price, or will Juliette?

A completely gripping and heart-wrenching historical novel about hope, betrayal and one mother’s limitless courage. Perfect for fans of The Alice NetworkThe Nightingale and My Name is Eva, this epic story will leave you breathless.

My Thoughts

Paris at First Light is the second book in the WWII Resistance series by Amanda Lees.
This is the first book I’ve read by this author, and it definitely wowed me.
I experienced so many emotions while reading it.
I find it fascinating that the characters are based on actual people. I love reading historical books based on fact as I learn so much from them. I love a lot of detail in books with a lot of descriptions of everything. A well-researched book such as this one always has me appreciating the author’s time.
I was truly lost in the story vividly imaging the goings on while reading.
Such a strong and powerful woman, she does the unthinkable, making the ultimate sacrifice leaving behind her heart, her two precious children to become a resistance fighter becoming a spy in Paris.
Working through an extremely dangerous mission with American agent Captain Daniel Diaz whom she takes an instant dislike to, they are working undercover to uncover a deadly Nazi plot.
I must admit the book is brutal in parts, but I look at it as realistic to the times and circumstances.
She has left her husband because of his brutality, putting her children and mother into hiding. Somehow, disaster strikes when he finds them, kidnapping his own children which he knows will hurt her more than anything.
There are high stakes as she has promised allegiance to France but will do anything to somehow get her children and still work fighting the impossible, the Nazi’s.
Will Juliette and Daniel be able to work against the odds to rescue the children?
Gripping will keep you reading late into the night. Unputdownable! A mother’s love is without limits, beyond compare!
The ultimate betrayal, shocking. Splendid read! Superb, I will be looking up this author for more.

When Heartcross’ resident clairvoyant tells Molly McKendrick to expect a whole lot of scandal and upset to blow in with the approaching winter storm, Molly doesn’t know what to think.

With a baby on the way any week now, and Christmas not far off, the last thing Molly needs is drama, but when she crosses paths with Bree, a sixteen-year-old homeless girl, and takes her in from the cold, secrets from the past flood the present and Molly, her partner Cam, and their son George, are soon experiencing a holiday season filled with unexpected festive surprises…

My Thoughts

I absolutely love this series, it’s so charming and it’s a snuggle up and feel-good read.
We are again in Heartcross and though having never visited Scotland I feel as though I have through this book. The descriptions are just fabulous.
Our main characters are Cam and his wife, Molly who is pregnant with their second child.
They are the town’s resident vet and bakers. Cam always bakes extra to give away to the homeless shelter and they appreciate it so much.
Though many in town say it’s hokey Molly visits a fortune teller and eerie enough all she predicts comes true.
When Molly McKendrick has a chance encounter with homeless teen Bree she has off flashbacks and feels as though she knows her. She takes in Bree off the cold streets, and they become close. Secrets are revealed and though it comes as a hock they work through them. This author and series have zipped right up my list as favorites. Though there are hardships they are talked out and hardships gotten through. I loved this sweet Scottish escape, it’s just a ray of sunshine.

There’s a newcomer to the village of Heartcross and she’s never been more in need of a friend.

As the new waitress at the local bistro, The Lake House, Ella is ready to start afresh ––and that could mean there’s love on the horizon in the form of the gorgeous Roman, the local water taxi driver. Every day Roman is there to ferry Ella to the restaurant on the other side of the lake and every night he makes sure she gets home safe. But Roman has secrets of his own…

Can the Love Heart Lane community offer Ella a chance of a new life? Or will the ghosts of her past catch up with her?

My Thoughts

The Lake House is the fifth book in the Love Heart Lane series by Christie Barlow and the fun thing about it is there are so many characters from previous books in it.
Ella is beside herself when after her parent’s death but then she meets a man who she believes is the one.
A rich doctor, they had so many plans together that it all seemed too good to be true. Until that’s exactly what happened, she was hoodwinked, left holding the bag, owing all the bills. Sometimes in life though we have to go through trials before we can really appreciate what is to come. Her friend rescues her from her devastation and whisks her off to a Scottish delight, The Lake House. A former popular night spot and classy restaurant Ella and friends have an exciting plan to bring the little House on The Lake back to its former glory days with the help of a famous singer that everyone loves and is clamoring to hear sing again.
Such a quick and easy read. A real pick me up and a chance at a real and lasting love this time. I loved the chemistry between Ella and water taxi driver Roma. Great plot and relatable characters and location. I can’t wait to read more in this charming series.

My Thoughts

What a fun adventure THE CHRISTMAS TRIP is. It is the follow up to The Christmas Swap.
It’s so much fun meeting up with the characters again and adding in a few new friends.
Set in the beautiful surroundings of Hawaii you won’t feel any less Christmas spirit because of the lack of snow. The friends and their beaus are back at it again meeting up and relaxing after working and having so much going on.
I loved the setting of their vacation, Hawaii plenty of delicious authentic foods, decorations, holiday singing and all around that happy Christmassy vibe.
Full of love, laughter, strong friendships, a bit of drama, fun surprises and joy.
I fell in love with this delightful book and its marvelous characters.

My first novel, a romantic comedy set in Greece and inspired by my real-life love story, was published in June 2019 by One More Chapter (HarperCollins). About The Book

A heartwarming tale of family, friends, and how a second chance at love can happen when you least expect it.

Book 4 of 5 Bellbird Bay

273 pages e-book

November 3,2022 publication date

My Thoughts

It’s always so much fun discovering a new to me author that you really enjoy their book.
Though this is the fourth book in the Bellbird Bay series I didn’t have a problem just jumping right in and enjoying this book. I enjoyed this one so much I NEED to read the others though.
One of the things I enjoyed about this series is it’s about mature women and they are empowered not made to feel less important like in some books.
Libby Walker has moved into her dream house in Bellbird Bay, it’s a beautiful coastal area. She never imagined it would be without her husband who has died prematurely, they had such a bright future planned for retirement. She has her big fuzzy mutt keeping her company and though grieving she’s not looking for more than female friendships.
Settling in she’s made friends with many women in this small, charming area, then she gets the call. Her daughter is devastated, her husband has left her and his daughter. Libby invites them to Bellbird Bay to live with her until she’s able to get back on her feet again.
Enter Adam Holland, political thriller author who has come to Bellbird Bay to spread the ashes of his good friend there as his last request. Not planning on staying long or become acclimated to the area and its people the attraction between Libby and Adam is instant on both their parts. Neither of this is planning on this happening.
I want to visit Bellbird Bay; it sounds so peaceful and the people so warm and welcoming.
Second chance romances bring healing to these couples.
You will feel right at home reading this book and want to read more in this series. I know I do.

Harvest Moon Kisses (Pumpkin Patch #3) by Linda Carroll-Bradd Review

About The Book

For the past four years, Tamsyn Norwood has operated the family’s pumpkin patch and corn maze. Although the business barely breaks even. During college, she spent a glorious night in a pumpkin patch with her boyfriend. Sadly, that relationship didn’t last, but she has worked hard to recreate the special feeling for others. If the patch income doesn’t improve by November first, her father threatens to plow the acres for a cash crop. She works herself ceaselessly to come up with supporting activities to keep the business going.

Ex-professional football player Harper Ashton is in town visiting an old college buddy. Released from his team because of an injured elbow, he’s at a crossroads over what comes next in his life. Life in this small town is nothing he’s ever experienced, and he soaks in the sense of community. He crosses paths with a college sweetheart, and suddenly, he has a new goal. Maybe his marketing degree and his famous name will help her struggling enterprise.

Working together reminds them of their college years. But can they recapture a love under the harvest moonlight?

My Thoughts

Tamsyn Norwood has taken over her mother’s dream of running the family’s pumpkin patch. It’s become so important to her in the past four years to keep what her mother started alive.
Her family doesn’t see it this way, not even her father who Tamsyn thought it would be important to him to keep his late wife’s dream alive. They say it’s just business no time to get sentimental and want to plow the pumpkin patch under and plant it with a more profitable crop.
She tries to come up with ideas to make the patch more profitable, but she seems to be on the losing end.
Harper Ashton, an old friend and more importantly old flame, visiting town may just the remedy she needs to keep the pumpkin patch afloat as they work together for the common good. I enjoyed seeing the spark reunite between this couple and the kindness they exhibit towards each other putting new marketing techniques into place.
Fun, heartwarming read.

About The Author

As a young girl, I spent lots of my free time lying on my bed reading about fascinating characters having exciting adventures in places far away and in other time periods. In later years, I discovered and devoured family saga stories and romance novels. At a certain point, I grew cocky enough to think I could write one of these stories. Then I learned what a balancing act writing a novel is, but I wasn’t deterred. Twelve years later, my first fiction sale was achieved–a confession story.

After reading Debra Holland’s “Montana Sky” series and Caroline Fyffe’s “Prairie Hearts” series, I wanted to try my hand at historicals. I was thrilled to be invited to contribute to Sweetwater Springs Christmas and continued writing in the Montana Sky world by developing my Entertainers of the West series.

Married with 4 adult children and 2 granddaughters, I now write heartwarming contemporary and historical stories with a touch of humor and a bit of sass from my home in the southern California mountains. Lots of my stories are set in Texas where I lived for a dozen years.

The Heart of the Mountains ( My Heart Belongs In The Blue Ridge #2) by Pepper Basham-Review

About The Book

Can their hearts overcome the darkness of the mountains?

To escape a forced marriage, Cora Taylor travels from England to the Blue Ridge Mountains in search of her brother, who is working as a teacher in a mission school. She hopes to find a place where her nursing skills and independent ideas will be accepted and appreciated, but nothing prepares her for the wild mixture of isolation, community, brokenness, and hope within these mountains…or in the person of Jeb McAdams.

Returning from the devastation of World War 1 emotionally damaged, Jeb McAdams struggles against the rampant mountain alcoholism to soothe his nightmares. It’s easy to hide within the mountains, or it was, before Cora Taylor arrived. Now, she seems to show up at every turn, bringing her modern ideas, curiosity, and beautiful eyes with her.

Bound by their shared war history, the pair develop an unlikely friendship, which unexpectedly hints to something more. But when Cora’s desire to help the women of the mountains crosses an unspoken line, will Jeb be able to protect this feisty flatlander from the wrath of the mountain men or will he end up losing much more than his heart?

My Thoughts

This is the second book in the My Heart Belongs in the Blue Ridge with the first being Laurel’s Dream.
I absolutely love this author’s work! The books are down to earth and you feel so comfortable and at home.

The way the author describes the Blue Ridge Mountain area and it’s people is so authentic , you really feel as if you are there right in the story with these people . It’s obvious how much she loves this area and it’s people.

The challenges of living in the Appalachian area are obvious with it’s poverty, alcoholism, and neglect are so sad. I have visited the area many times and even married in this area. It is truly a wild and beautiful place.

The characters feel so real and very easy to connect with. I loved Cora’s gentle manner and how Jeb helped her acclimate to life in the mountains.
The book is so well written and uplifting. A whole evening went by as I read this but I was so engrossed that I didn’t even notice.

Trust and faith in God is woven into this story making it my favorite I have read by this author.
I recommend this historical novel to all.
