My Review

The Bramble Berry Creek series is not one you’re going to want to miss. Though it can be read alone do yourself a big favor and read, Home to Brambleberry Creek, book one and Second Chances at the House by the Creek, book two first before reading Secrets at the House by the Creek, the third and final book in this series. Wow! This series. It’s unputdownable. This book had me in it’s grip the whole time I read it. So many questions that I had from the first two books all were revealed in this final book. The book made me laugh,it made me cry, it just had my emotions all over the place. This series was truly a roller coaster and I loved going along for the ride. Bottom line is it comes down to family and this book illustrates that through your ups and downs family will stick with you and give you the support you need.Even when life-changing secrets from the past are about to unravel and turn their lives upside down this family sticks together . You’re going to want to read this heartwarming, emotional but uplifting story of family, friendship and moving on from the past.
I recommend this whole series.

About The Author

Hi! I’m Elizabeth Bromke, and I write women’s fiction and sweet romance. I’ve been a writer in some shape or form since college, but I began publishing my stories in 2018. Across all of my books, you’ll find nostalgia for a bygone era, family values, heartwarming romance, and strong female friendships. I like to set my stories against the backdrop of charming towns with quirky casts of locals.

I grew up in Tucson, Arizona, and my little desert heart often longed for seasons. After meeting the love of my life, Ed, we agreed to find a family-friendly small town with green grass and shady trees. So we settled a little farther north in the mountains, where we are proud to raise our son as a reader, a burgeoning writer, and as a little outdoorsman.

As a family, we Bromkes also like to watch movies and do puzzles together. And of course, we love to cuddle with our goofy Golden Retriever-mix, Winnie.

Of course, reading is my passion. I have many favorite books and authors, but some who top the list include Nicholas Sparks, Mitch Albom, John Irving, Diane Chamberlain, and Liane Moriarty. I also love Stephen King, Dan Brown, and Lisa Jewell. Mainly, I’ll devour whatever you set in front of me!

My Review

This Book! This is my first read by this author and I now automatically need the whole stack of the rest of her books to read right NOW!
This book is so amazing that I sped read it, losing sleep over it and it was so great I didn’t even mind the lack of sleep .
With a dual time line I didn’t quite make the connection at first between the two time periods but it did eventually become cohesive.
This book will really WOW you historical fiction fans with it’s fabulous plot.
My favorite time period was the earlier time period with those characters . The author makes the character’s step out of the pages and come to life. You can feel their emotions as they become your emotions. The book is absolutely heartbreaking and it makes you want to step back in history with them and chance the outcome. Despite the heartbreak there is a light at the end of the tunnel with blue skies ahead. There is healing for these characters you can not hold these characters back. They will persevere and make things right. This book and the emotions I felt with it will stay with me for a long time. Highly recommended as the best historical I’ve read this year!

An absolutely addictive World War Two novel of friendship, betrayal and heartbreak. Perfect for fans of The Rose Code, The Alice Network and The Nightingale.

My Review

A must read, one of my favorite historical reads this year. I found it fascinating that this story is based on a heartbreaking true story. Taking place partly in Malta, which I have never seen a WW11 book taking place in we get a real feel for the area . I read it almost in one sitting, just couldn’t put it down. Full of courageous women who though they may have had daunting events happen they smartly climb their way to the top again. They will not be kept down. I admire these characters.
I haven’t read any history about Bletchley Park before and will be doing some more personal research on this. This book is absolutely fascinating and I highly recommend it . It will stay with me for a long time.

An utterly beautiful beach read about family secrets, finding yourself, and learning the true meaning of home. Perfect for fans of Carolyn Brown, Barbara O’Neal and Mary Alice Monroe.

My Review

I absolutely love this author’s books and have read every one of them. They are the kind of book you’ll read for relaxation, automatic reads for me.
We visit a past and present time line. Family is important in this story. So charming, I loved the setting, characters and fast pace.
I enjoyed reading about the cranberry farm. A return home that she hasn’t been to since she was a teen has our main character looking at things in a new light. Things that seemed secretive are explained and forgiveness is key. Second chances makes for a fully satisfying book you won’t be able to put down until it’s over . Emotional read that reminds you not to jump to conclusions and make assumptions. Warm and relatable book that I highly recommend.

Bookouture Blog Tour for Second Chances at Brambleberry Creek

About The Book

Sometimes you need to fall to learn how to fly…

A totally addictive, heart-melting novel about the magic of friendship, family and making every day count, even when life takes an unexpected twist. Fans of RaeAnne Thayne, Elin Hilderbrand and Susan Mallery will love this page-turning story.

Amber Lee Taylor has lived in the close-knit town of Brambleberry Creek, Kentucky her whole life. And she thought she had everything figured out. But when Amber discovers her long-term fiancée, Grant, has been cheating, her perfect future shatters into tiny pieces…

Heartbroken, Amber retreats to her family’s crumbling farmhouse in the stunning countryside outside her little town. It’s her favourite place in the world. She loves the old oak beams and the smell of the fire crackling in the grate. But her family say the farm isn’t making enough money and they need to do something to save it…

Determined to forget Grant and save her family home, Amber throws herself into launching a new wine business with her cousins, and stumbles across one of her grandfather’s old notebooks.

Just as she realizes the size of her project, she discovers a family mystery weaving through her grandfather’s writing, and everything suddenly seems more complicated. But then, she hasn’t thought about Grant in days, and when she bumps into handsome, charming Callum on Main Street, Amber starts to wonder if breaking up with Grant could be the best thing that’s happened to her in years.

It feels good to spend time with a guy with such a kind and genuine heart, and as he helps her untangle the notebook’s secrets, she wonders if the key to the mystery might just be the key to saving her beloved farmhouse too.

But will Amber find the strength to make the most of her second chance? Or will crossing paths with Grant change everything again?

My Thoughts

This is the second book in the Brambleberry Creek trio. It was a total joy to be back amongst the friends I’ve met in Brambleberry Creek, Kentucky while reading, Home to Brambelberry Creek, the first book in this series.
The book is such a pure delight, so grab your hot coffee or sweet tea because once you start reading you won’t want to stop until you’re done.
Now Brambleberry has it’s ups and downs but these same folks will have your back any time you have a problem. This book has taken me on an emotional roller coaster. It has it’s share of drama and secrets, plenty of secrets and a big cliff hanger but it’s love, romance, understanding, caring, friendships, and down home cooking. The perfect get away read you need in your life right now. I absolutely will be reading the last book in the series as soon as I can.

Bookouture Blog Tour for A Home At Cornflower Cottage By Tilly Tennant

This is such a feel good, happy book. I think we can all use a little lift right about now.

About The Book

Escape to the flower-filled fields and hedgerows of the Cotswold countryside, to a tiny cottage and a summer that could change everything….

Amelie will never give up Cornflower Cottage, marooned in its island of wild fields and thick woodland. She did her homework at the scrubbed kitchen table and helped her mother hang washing on the line from the old oak tree. And when her beloved parents died, Cornflower Cottage became Amelie’s armour against the world.

The trouble is that it’s falling apart, and she’s struggling to make ends meet. The garden is a jungle of weeds, the roof leaks, the boiler is broken. Determined to keep hold of the home that is her last link to her parents, Amelie decides it’s time to take action.

Extra shifts at a local hotel, favours called in from old friends, and, reluctantly, a lodger. Could rude, hilarious, brown-eyed Xander be the answer to her problems? Or is he just going to come in and start changing things?

Just as Amelie manages to save the cottage from total collapse, and she starts getting used to the sound of laughter in her cosy farmhouse kitchen, a face from Xander’s past appears and Amelie’s future in the home she loves is shaken once again.

Can Amelie find a way to save her home and protect her heart? Can she trust Xander, or was the spark between them just in her imagination?

A completely beautiful romantic comedy about being brave, following your heart and moving on. Fans of Holly Martin, Jessica Redland and Nicola May will be swept away by A Home at Cornflower Cottage.

My Review

I have read many books by Tilly Tennant. They are the perfect light read for when you just want to put your feet up,kick back and relax with your tea and biscuits kind of books.
As I was reading this I was completely immersed in this feel good story.
The setting is so cozy, with it’s picturesque countryside filled with flowers and the memory filled Cornflower Cottage Amelie has lived in her whole life with her parents. Life was ideal and she really didn’t have a care in the world and wasn’t planning on changing anything soon. Life sometimes has a way of abruptly changing things though and this happened when her parents died.
Now her beloved Cornflower Cottage still holds these precious memories for her but she is seeing things in a different light. Repairs are costly as one thing after another goes on the blink in her cottage and her finances aren’t really being helped by her job where the boss is working her harder than anyone but sure not paying her more.
Bring her boyfriend into the picture, now this guy is a character in the book that I didn’t particularly make a connection with. He is pretty much a for himself kind of guy and pretty clingy in the relationship. I can’t see how he enriches the story at all. Her rabbit, Salad was an adorable addition to the story. I enjoyed reading about him. Probably because we have 2 lop eared rabbits.
Amelie comes up with a plan to get an additional income and I like how she went about it.
I enjoyed reading about Xander’s character he brings light and sunshine back into Amelie’s life.
Such a warm and entertaining read. I’ll always recommend this author’s books.

Bookouture Books Blog Tour For The Midwife of Auschwitz by Anna Stuart

Book Description:

Auschwitz, 1943: As I held the tiny baby in my arms, my fingers traced the black tattoo etched across her little thigh. And I prayed that one day this set of numbers, identical to her mother’s, would have the power to reunite a family torn apart by war…

Inspired by an incredible true story, this poignant novel tells of one woman’s fight for love, life and hope during a time of unimaginable darkness.

Ana Kaminski is pushed through the iron gates of Auschwitz beside her frightened young friend Ester Pasternak. As they reach the front of the line, Ana steps forward and quietly declares herself a midwife – and Ester her assistant. Their arms are tattooed and they’re ordered to the maternity hut. Holding an innocent new-born baby, Ana knows the fate of so many are in her hands, and vows to do everything she can to save them.

When two guards in their chilling SS uniforms march in and snatch a blond-haired baby from its mother it’s almost too much for Ana to bear. Consoling the distraught woman, Ana realises amidst the terrible heartache there is a glimmer of hope. The guards are taking the healthiest babies and placing them with German families, so they will survive. And there are whispers the war is nearly over… Ana and Ester begin to secretly tattoo little ones with their mother’s numbers, praying one day they might be reunited.

Then, early one morning, Ana notices the small bump under Ester’s thin striped clothing…

An absolutely heartbreaking and page-turning WW2 novel of one woman’s bravery and determination to bring life and hope into a broken world. Fans of The Tattooist of Auschwitz,The Alice Network and The Nightingale will be gripped.

My Review

Though this book was so hard to read I am so glad the author has written it. We need to never forget those who were tortured during the Holocaust. Though fictionalized the story is based on fact.
My heart aches for the people subjected to such inhumane treatment. I really don’t understand how they could treat another human being they way they did.
This is based on two midwives in Europe during WW11 who are sent to Auschwitz along with so many others. In the face of adversity these woman gave the laboring women a ray of hope,a glimpse of goodness and kindness.
The midwives put these women’s needs ahead of their own, not knowing if they’d see their own families again. This didn’t stop them from giving the women and babies the best possible chance at life.
Reading this book book absolutely broke my heart. I have never read such a realistic book about Auschwitz! Though hard to read it’s such an important story that needed telling!

The Watchmaker’s Daughter BY Dianne Haley- Blog Tour

Today I am excited to bring you my stop for The Watchmaker’s Daughter Blog Tour. A completely gripping and heart-wrenching novel about love and bravery in a time of terrible danger. Fans of The Alice Network, The Nightingale and We Were the Lucky Ones will be swept away by The Watchmaker’s Daughter.

My Review

Debut author Dianne Haley has written a superb book.
There have been many WWII books written and they are good but one that has a different topic covered such as this one really catches your attention.
What keeps your attention is the page after page reading of danger, heart wrenching heartbreak the characters face though not of their own causing. Such injustice done to children just trying to escape to a better life.
You get very invested in the character’s lives, holding your breath as you read the risks they are taking through espionage and secret communications.
France has fallen to the Nazi’s and Switzerland’s people know they could be next but a long time jeweler needs the business with the Germans to survive. As his daughter does bike deliveries for him she, unknown to her father ,smuggles messages for the French Resistance, hidden among his watch deliveries.
It is a huge risk she is taking but she does it while thinking of Philippe, her childhood sweetheart who is a soldier based in secret military fortresses in the mountains.
When unexpected danger strikes will she stay safe, will her father?
Highly recommended!

Good Reads Synopsis

I have to help them,’ Valérie says, her eyes filling with tears at the thought of the frightened children shivering in the rain and hiding from the Nazis. ‘I know you do,’ Philippe replies as he pulls her tight, ‘And I love you so much for that. But will you promise to be careful? Remember how precious your life is too?’

1942: Gazing out of her shuttered bedroom window towards the snow-covered Alps, Valérie Hallez feels like a traitor to her beautiful country. France has fallen to the Nazis, and everyone knows that Switzerland could be invaded next. But her father Albert is a local watchmaker who relies on German trade. As she helps him entertain German customers, she sees their Nazi insignia sparkling in the firelight. And guilt fills her heart as she listens to her crackling radio which speaks of terrible camps in Germany. So when a friend asks her to hide Jewish refugee children who will be sent back to the Nazis if they are discovered, Valérie knows she must join the fight against evil…

In defiance of her father, Valérie smuggles messages for the French Resistance, hidden among his watch deliveries. And when darkness falls, she runs through narrow cobbled streets to hide children in his old workshop. Her heart is broken by their terrified faces, and it pains her to feel so distant from her father. But she finds comfort in letters from Philippe, her childhood sweetheart who is a soldier based in secret military fortresses in the mountains. And in his brief hours of leave, they snatch precious moments on their favourite bench by Lake Geneva.

Then a hidden document that could alter the course of the war tells her Philippe is in grave danger. And Valérie faces an impossible choice. Will she betray the Resistance to save the man she loves?

A completely gripping and heart-wrenching novel about love and bravery in a time of terrible danger. Fans of The Alice Network, The Nightingale and We Were the Lucky Ones will be swept away by The Watchmaker’s Daughter.
