My Review

This is the third and final book in the Rocky Mountain Courage series. Now this can be read as a stand alone but I do recommend reading the others in this series as there is some character carry over from previous books.
I’ll admit to having never read a book quite like this before. It borders on sci-fiction but the author has done an excellent research job and everything cyber that happens in the story could actually happen. Now cyber intelligence is not my kind of thing that would be my first choice of reading material but I love this author’s books so I knew I had to give this book a try and I loved it. I read the book all at once over a several hours period.
It is feverishly paced with basically no down time at all.
In this book you’ll find a woman who is a cyber security expert hiding a past that she’s trying to forget about but will she have to go back to her old ways to save not only herself but those around her.
Angsty romance, that part was take it or leave it for me. I read it for the action not the romance.
To think of the things people with cyber intelligence can do is pretty scary as evidenced in this book. They control so much more than we are even aware of.
There was a part in there that hits you like a lightning bolt as it’s so unexpected.
I’ll be stepping up to the plate as soon as I know she has another book releasing.

Death by Bubble Tea (L.A. Night Market #1) by Jennifer J. Chow-Review

About The Book

Two cousins who start a food stall at their local night market get a serving of murder in this first novel of a delicious new cozy mystery series by Jennifer J. Chow, author of Mimi Lee Gets a Clue.

When Yale Yee discovers her cousin Celine is visiting from Hong Kong, she is obliged to play tour guide to a relative she hasn’t seen in twenty years. Not only that, but her father thinks it’s a wonderful idea for them to bond by running a food stall together at the Eastwood Village Night Market. Yale hasn’t cooked in years, and she hardly considers Celine’s career as a social media influencer as adequate experience, but because she’s just lost her job at her local bookstore, she feels she has no choice.

Yale and Celine serve small dishes and refreshing drinks, and while business is slow, it eventually picks up thanks to Celine’s surprisingly useful marketing ideas. They’re quite shocked that their bubble tea, in particular, is a hit–literally–when one of their customers turns up dead. Yale and Celine are prime suspects due to the gold flakes that Celine added to the sweet drink as a garnish. Though the two cousins are polar opposites in every way, they must work together to find out what really happened to the victim or the only thing they’ll be serving is time.

My Review

Death by Bubble Tea is written by a new to me author, Jennifer J. Chow. It is the first book in the L.A. Night Market cozy mystery series.
I enjoy reading cozies with animals and food in them. Now while this one doesn’t have animals in it it has plenty of authentic and delicious sounding Asian foods and drinks that we are introduced to including Bubble Tea. Bubble tea most commonly is a tea accompanied with chewy tapioca balls. It has many flavors and varieties but the two most popular varieties are black pearl milk tea and green pearl milk tea, fruity flavors are very popular as well.
Yale Yee and her cousin Celine, visiting from Hong Kong at the suggestion of Yale’s father run a food stand at the Eastwood Night Market. Now these cousins haven’t seen each other in over twenty years and have very different personalities
Celine has the brilliant idea to add a gold garnish to the bubble tea to make it more photogenic because she is a food influencer. It works and brings in lots of customers after this. But then one of their customers turns up dead after hours at the Night Market.
While every chapter is not nonstop action we are introduced to many characters. Are the cousins the guilty party or is it one of the many characters we meet who seem to have a motive for the killing? This kept me reading and guessing right to the end.
I will be looking for more in this series as they release.

About The Book

1906

After a summer of successful pirate-treasure hunting, Lady Emily Scofield and her friends must hide the unprecedented discoveries they’ve made, thanks to the betrayal of her own family. Horrified by her brother, who will stop at nothing to prove himself to their greedy father, Emily is forced to take a stand against her family–even if it means being cut off entirely.

Bram Sinclair, Earl of Telford, is fascinated with tales of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table–an interest he’s kept mostly hidden for the last decade. But when a diary is unearthed on the islands that could lead to a secret artifact, Bram is the only one able to piece the legends together.

As Bram and Emily seek out the whereabouts of the hidden artifact, they must dodge her family and a team of archeologists. In a race against time, it is up to them to decide what makes a hero worthy of legend. Is it fighting valiantly to claim the treasure . . . or sacrificing everything in the name of selfless love?

In Honor’s Defense (Hanger’s Horsemen #3) by Karen Witemeyer-Review

About The Book

He’s faced countless perils on the battlefield, but nothing so dangerous as falling in love.

Luke Davenport has been fighting all his life—for respect, for country, and for those unable to fight for themselves. But now that his Horsemen brothers are domesticated, he’s left alone to battle the wildness within. When an opportunity arises to take a job on his own, tracking down a group of rustlers, he jumps at the chance.

Damaris Baxter has mastered the art of invisibility. Plain and quiet, she hides in books and needlework, content to be overlooked. Until her brother dies suddenly, leaving her custody of her nephew. She moves to Texas to care for Nathaniel, determined to create the family for herself that she never thought she’d have and to give him the family he desperately needs.

When Nate finds himself knee-deep in trouble, Luke’s attempt to protect him leaves Damaris feeling indebted to the Horseman. But suspicions grow regarding the mysterious death of Damaris’s brother. And the more questions they ask, the more danger appears, threatening the family Luke may be unable to live without.

My Review

In Honor’s Defense by Karen Witemeyer was a book I was highly anticipating reading and it delivered every bit as much as I thought it would and then some. I believe this to be my favorite series by this author but I may just say that about all of her series because I LOVE them all!
Luke “Preach” Davenport is one of the Horsemen brothers but there’s really not as much for him to do now that his brothers have settled into domestic bliss.
Needing to keep busy he’s keeping up the fight for the good life, for the poor, weak and defenseless.
He’s taken on tracking down a group of cattle rustlers which will put him in more danger than he realizes.
Damaris Baxter is a single woman who enjoys the simple things in life, like needlepoint, canning, baking and reading. Quiet simplicity is her way of life and she’s fine with that.
When her brother dies unexpectedly she finds she is the guardian now of her nephew,Nathaniel.
To honor her brother’s memory she will take care of her nephew but they are having a hard time getting to know one another again now that her nephew is a teen and it’s been some years since she’s seen him.
He’s grieving the loss of his father but thinks it’s not manly to show his feelings so Nathaniel acts out and him locking her in the cellar looks like child’s play compared to what he gets blamed for next.
Nathaniel goes from a sullen, immature teen to a mature, trustworthy young man. I enjoyed seeing this. I enjoyed the interactions between Luke and Damaris. He is a fine person, trustworthy and an excellent protector. Luke enjoys reading scripture and sharing it also has a past and is battling his own demons but will this family help him keep the past there as he finds mercy and love?
I enjoyed the western feel of the book and it’s wide open spaces. This can be read as a stand alone but I do recommend to read this series in order to get the full benefit of it.

Among The Innocent by Mary Alford-Review

About The Book

When Leah Miller’s entire Amish family was murdered ten years ago, the person believed responsible took his own life. Since then, Leah left the Amish and joined the police force. Now, after another Amish woman is found murdered with the same MO, it becomes clear that the wrong man may have been blamed for her family’s deaths.

As Leah and the new police chief, Dalton Cooper, work long hours struggling to fit the pieces together in order to catch the killer, they can’t help but grow closer. When secrets from both of their pasts begin to surface, an unexpected connection between them is revealed. But this is only the beginning. Could it be that the former police chief framed an innocent man to keep the biggest secret of all buried? And what will it mean for Leah–and Dalton–when the full truth comes to light?

USA Today bestselling author Mary Alford keeps you guessing as two determined souls plumb the dark depths of the past in order to forge a brighter future–together.

My Review

The majority of young Amish women living at home lead a sheltered life. When they go through Rumspringa they are exposed to a lot of the things Englishers experience and some are led astray by these Englishers. Such as the case with Leah Miller, in over her head she feels excited to have an Englisher boyfriend and is happy to sneak out to see him at night.
Shortly after she starts seeing him her whole family is killed.
This Amish woman leaves the Amish faith and joins the police force seeking revenge.
When the killings start back up again after sometime Leah and her partner, police chief Dalton Cooper must prove without a doubt who the guilty party is.
After her family was killed Leah thought the murder was solved because the person that was blamed for the murders killed themselves. When innocent young Amish women start turning up dead again we know this isn’t the case and the killer is still among us.
As the book goes on we can see a pattern repeating itself so we have a good idea of who has done the killings.
The book is so hard to put down. I read it in less that 24 hours.
The suspense really grabbed my attention . Riveting, it kept me on the edge of my seat. I’ll admit to feeling uneasy a bit while reading this. The author does suspense very well.
Read it and find out the significance of the number ten.
If you’re just coasting through this book and I’m not sure how you could be doing that with all that’s going on there is a big reveal pretty close to the end that’ll give you a nice jolt.
Highly enjoyed and recommended!

Bookouture Blog Tour for A Home At Cornflower Cottage By Tilly Tennant

This is such a feel good, happy book. I think we can all use a little lift right about now.

About The Book

Escape to the flower-filled fields and hedgerows of the Cotswold countryside, to a tiny cottage and a summer that could change everything….

Amelie will never give up Cornflower Cottage, marooned in its island of wild fields and thick woodland. She did her homework at the scrubbed kitchen table and helped her mother hang washing on the line from the old oak tree. And when her beloved parents died, Cornflower Cottage became Amelie’s armour against the world.

The trouble is that it’s falling apart, and she’s struggling to make ends meet. The garden is a jungle of weeds, the roof leaks, the boiler is broken. Determined to keep hold of the home that is her last link to her parents, Amelie decides it’s time to take action.

Extra shifts at a local hotel, favours called in from old friends, and, reluctantly, a lodger. Could rude, hilarious, brown-eyed Xander be the answer to her problems? Or is he just going to come in and start changing things?

Just as Amelie manages to save the cottage from total collapse, and she starts getting used to the sound of laughter in her cosy farmhouse kitchen, a face from Xander’s past appears and Amelie’s future in the home she loves is shaken once again.

Can Amelie find a way to save her home and protect her heart? Can she trust Xander, or was the spark between them just in her imagination?

A completely beautiful romantic comedy about being brave, following your heart and moving on. Fans of Holly Martin, Jessica Redland and Nicola May will be swept away by A Home at Cornflower Cottage.

My Review

I have read many books by Tilly Tennant. They are the perfect light read for when you just want to put your feet up,kick back and relax with your tea and biscuits kind of books.
As I was reading this I was completely immersed in this feel good story.
The setting is so cozy, with it’s picturesque countryside filled with flowers and the memory filled Cornflower Cottage Amelie has lived in her whole life with her parents. Life was ideal and she really didn’t have a care in the world and wasn’t planning on changing anything soon. Life sometimes has a way of abruptly changing things though and this happened when her parents died.
Now her beloved Cornflower Cottage still holds these precious memories for her but she is seeing things in a different light. Repairs are costly as one thing after another goes on the blink in her cottage and her finances aren’t really being helped by her job where the boss is working her harder than anyone but sure not paying her more.
Bring her boyfriend into the picture, now this guy is a character in the book that I didn’t particularly make a connection with. He is pretty much a for himself kind of guy and pretty clingy in the relationship. I can’t see how he enriches the story at all. Her rabbit, Salad was an adorable addition to the story. I enjoyed reading about him. Probably because we have 2 lop eared rabbits.
Amelie comes up with a plan to get an additional income and I like how she went about it.
I enjoyed reading about Xander’s character he brings light and sunshine back into Amelie’s life.
Such a warm and entertaining read. I’ll always recommend this author’s books.

Sea Glass Summer (Seashell Harbor series #2) by Miranda Liasson review

My Review

Sea Glass Summer is the second book in the Seashell Harbor series. The first book, Coming Home to Seashell Harbor is Hadley and Cam’s story. Sea Glass Summer is Kit, Alex and Ollie’s story. Ollie is a sweet little boy, five years old. He is the son of Kit and her late husband Carson. He was a strong protector but never made it back from his military mission. Grieving Kit moved herself and her son into her parents house for support mentally but after three years there she is ready for them to have some breathing room and her to get on with her life.
The fixer upper Victorian beach house her late husband owns is a total money drain but she vows to put everything she has into it to fix it up and sell it. She’s noticed her son has lagging confidence and frankly she does as well. She’s convinced being out on their on will help this tremendously.
Grieving deeply for her husband she promises herself she will do all she can to keep her husband’s memory alive for her son.
Fixing the beach house has taken more money than she realizes so when her husband’s best friend Alex offers to help with the repairs at cost she finds it’s an offer she can’t refuse.
Alex is grieving right along with Kit because he and Carson have been best friends for so long.
Spending so much time with Alex she finds herself falling for him and he has had feelings for her for forever but with her being married never acted on them.
I love how the relationship between Kit and Alex moves slowly and respectfully. He loves Ollie and includes him in many things. All looks great in this relationship until Kit finds out a secret Alex has been keeping and it devastates her. Will the relationship be able to recover and go back to where it was? This book is so down to earth, homey and realistic. It brought me to tears a few times.
I highly recommend it!

Now she wants to reclaim her former self—finish her degree and find a better career to provide for their sweet little boy, Oliver. To do that, she’ll need to sell her late husband’s dilapidated Victorian in Seashell Harbor. But first, Kit intends to give Ollie the kind of unforgettable seaside summer she had growing up, making lifelong memories and friendships.

Of course, nothing goes exactly as she planned. Ollie is struggling with his confidence, and frankly, so is Kit. But everything changes when her husband’s best friend, Alex de la Cruz, returns to town, offering to help her renovate. She doesn’t expect Alex to temporarily move in…or for him to bond with Ollie…or for her numb heart to begin thawing. Slowly he’s helping Kit and Ollie heal, and it scares her to death.

Kit swore she wouldn’t leave herself open to the pain of loss again. But if she’s going to teach her son to be brave and move forward, Kit must first face her own fears.

Sunburst (Sky King Ranch #2)by Susan May Warren Review

My Review

I am always so excited when I see Susan May Warren has a new book out and I can start reading it. I shouldn’t be surprised I enjoyed it so much . But seriously this one just has to be her best yet!
Once I start reading a book by her everything else just disappears and it’s total concentration on the book.
This is the second book in the Sky King Ranch series and I already feel as though I know all the personalities of the characters . This one is former Navy Seal Ranger Kingston, who is a lifelong bachelor and Nigerian woman Noemi Sutton’s story.
Terrorist in Nigeria have Ranger’s brother Colt hostage and as he attempts to rescue him he lays eyes on another hostage a beautiful woman from his past that he could never get out of his mind,Noemi.
Escaping from Nigeria with their lives intact will take every possible move this former Seal has learned. This book provides nonstop exciting action to get out of many perilous situations.
I really enjoyed learning about the Nigerian culture, foods, customs, languages and descriptions of the area .
So many , how can they get out of that situation moments.
With the danger Noemi has following her is it possible for their marriage of convenience to actually turn into the real thing before one of them gets hurt? Contains faith based messages that she weaves into all of her books.
Excellent! Highly Recommended!
