Name an attraction or town close to home that you still haven’t got around to visiting.
I live in Fort Loudon, Pennsylvania which is in the United States. It’s an unincorporated village. Very small and very old. We have one of the oldest post offices in continuous use in Pennsylvania opening in 1814. This area used to be called Loudon but was changed to Fort Loudon in 1883.

And here is our post office. Notice the spelling of Fort Loudon on the building. The fort has it spelled the old way.

Interesting history! So it was built by Pennsylvanians for the British…and then 9 years later, a rebellion took it back?

Sure does look beautiful, overlooking the beautiful Tellico Lake. So peaceful and clean. 1 Red light Wow! No traffic jams there I bet? 🤭😊 No wonder you would not want to move, neither would I. Love the quaint post office and very interesting history attached to it. Being a Heritage Manager, I love reading about Historical Sites (SSSI’s) . To have a Native American history fascinates me too. I have a natural affinity with Native American’s. Fascinates me. Wonder what the population is there? Thank you for sharing Deanne

We have a lot of Civil War history around here that we’ve sort of ignored. Maybe a visit to the Guilford Courthouse National Military Park – On March 15, 1781, six years into the American Revolution, General Greene and Lord Cornwallis’ troops faced off at a small courthouse community. The battle would change the course of the Southern Campaign of the American Revolution.

Sorry, wrong war., Revolutionary War! Hillsborough is another Revolutionary War town – pops up in Outlander – but we’ve explored it.

The thing I’ve noticed is if you live close to a famous attraction you mostly ignore it, at least we do but there’s so much more history to explore and it’s fascinating.
