Where can you reduce clutter in your life?
Clutter. Who wants it, who needs it. I’ve heard hoarders feel secure when they have their possessions all around that it gives them a good feeling. I am not a hoarder and it doesn’t make me feel happy, it actually makes me feel 🫥 depressed when I see a bunch of clutter so I try to stay on top of it. When I walked into a messy room before I would survey it and mentally calculate what needed done then scurry around with no plan just putting this away and that away from different sides of the room. Now I at least make a plan. I’ll start at the top of the room on one side and work my way down when I’m doing a deep cleaning 🧹🧼. Dust, wipe down walls, go through cabinets clear counters, what to keep, what to pitch what to give away. This way working on one side of a room at a time I have less chaos and can do a more thorough cleaning and it’s not as overwhelming as when I try to do the whole room at once.

if a cluttered desk is a sign of a cluttered mind then what does an empty desk imply. Joking aside I don’t like clutter either.

I’m still guilty of it myself. My bedside table is cluttered, books, tea mugs, cat toys, snacks and more. I’ll get mad when I put something on there and it falls off due to lack of room and I don’t feel like getting up to pick it up. I’ve made plans to clear it and my windowsill behind it tomorrow. I did a deep clean of my room a few days ago including moving the furniture around. It looks great but I didn’t do that area of the room. Like I said one section at a time. And it makes me pretty unhappy to look at that table right next to me. As far as an empty desk, now that’s just sad. It needs some type of personalization books, papers, coffee mug. Key is keeping it under control and hiding the rest in drawers. 🙂

About moving furniture around. I thought my wife was moving furniture around. I was thinking that she is never happy about where it is. Then I saw what was really going on. It was our big dog Bronco who bit the legs of the sofa chairs and sofas and then dragged them around the room. It was good exercise I guess.

Oh my that’s quite the strength if he was able to do that. 🤣

Yes he was surprisingly strong. In my estimate, about three times stronger than a German Shepherd (we had a German Shepherd too). However, a lot of it was technique. He was yanking the chair/sofa at the leg and it moved just a little, half an inch, he yanked it again, and he continued until it was on the other side of the room. I should say we had a wood floor so it was not too hard to drag. I stood there watching him in awe.

I am doing much better with clutter. I used to be one of those people with piles of stuff everywhere, but not anymore.

Glad to hear that, Carla. I know for me it’s easier to stay on top of it by constantly cleaning stuff up when it’s a small pile of stuff rather than waiting too long. I just did a major cleaning job in my bedroom a few days ago including moving furniture and sweeping and mopping the floor. Tomorrow I’m gonna sweep and mop and do some cleaning I didn’t get to in it just to keep up.

I did all that just before Christmas, but when I get home, I’m sure I’ll have to do it again as my son and his dog are there 3 days a week.

A cluttered desk is okay it shows character. You don’t dare touch a writer’s desk if you’re not said writer! 😉
