Describe a positive thing a family member has done for you.
My mother gave me my love of reading. She put those little chunky board books in my crib when I was little and my love of reading just took off. I tried that with my kids and some of them really enjoyed reading when they were younger into their teen years. Unfortunately none of them like reading like I do. There are too many distractions now for them, namely video games, computers and cell phones. Now no one needs to think for themselves anymore, they have a machine to do it for them and that’s pretty scary. 😦

I agree with you it scares me to think about the future no one seems to have manners or empathy. It’s a dog eat dog world 😐.

There is nothing like a book to take you on adventures. I do undetstand the lure of Youtube and Video games. The learning curve of having visual/ graphic learning enables us to get an a faster understanding of how to do things. The graphics in video games places us mentally in the action again with instant visual gratification.
Still, I believe it is equally important to read. Since stories like Jurassic Park, Halo, and so many others take on a deeper understanding and caveats of the stories that simply are edited out of movies anf games.
So finding a balance one can embrace all the avenues for a much richer experience. The key is not to skip the reading.

Both my parents were inveterate readers and gave me my love for reading. I passed this on to my daughter and grandchildren. My son, who is an ADHD guy, had trouble reading but eventually settled in. He loved being read to.

And pretty soon, we’ll have machines to do the thinking for us AND our machines. Then will come AHnold and SkyNet. Lol, sorta 🫤
